We got the full-over-full bed with trundle in November and had it professionally assembled through Amazon. From the start, I regretted getting a full-over-full. It was too bulky in the room, and more importantly, I was very nervous about the weight of a full over my three year old. The wood slats that came with our bed did not seem adequate and it bent with every movement.
Maybe it was the "professional" assembly job? We'll never know.
Now back to the bed. We lived with it for a few months until I just couldn't take the nervousness any time one of my boys climbed on top, not to mention if my husband climbed on to snuggle with a kid.
So, I called Max and Lily and voiced my concerns, and asked if there was an option to purchase a twin to go on top of our current full.
Nope, that's not what they did.
INSTEAD, they sent me out a brand new, upgraded twin-over-full bunk bed from their Jackpot line (which is TWICE AS EXPENSIVE) with no questions asked. Zero dollars extra. Not even shipping.
Not kidding.
The new bed arrived less than a week later, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way.
So, while I cannot personally recommend the full over full, I will shout from the rooftops how amazing this company is and how high quality my new twin-over-full is.
When I asked the rep why they were so willing to go above and beyond, she just said, "We like to make our customers happy, and we want you to not worry at night. We hope that you'll think of us the next time you look to buy some furniture."
Oh believe me, I will.
Just put it together, so far great first impressions. I did it alone, and with a half charged power drill for the screws. Took around 90 minutes with zero stress.
Quite easy to do and the instructions are very clear.
We put an 8” mattress on it and it might look a bit better with a 6”, but we wanted something that would be comfy even for adults, just in case.
It is real solid wood, and besides the pictures and having to replace the footboard wich ended up costing us 40 dollars plus time to replace everything else was fine.. it would be helpful to have a number to call or way to get ahold of someone who can at least pay us for the difference for replacing items shipped to us broken
Very nice product - pretty easy to put together - took me 2 hr. Will note (and not reduce the 5 star rating) instructions can use improvement and parts can be labeled better.
Spent a lot of time reviewing options and opted for M&L brand. Bought 2 units. They are part of Maxwood Furniture - US owned and fast polite customer service. Wood is solid, non-toxic, no off-gas etc. When built, this is a solid unit. Comfortably manages a 190lb adult and a 50lb kid on the top bunk to read stories. No wobble. Selected a shallower mattress for the top to fit below the rail and a deeper mattress at the bottom. Kids LOVE these beds and with the trundle, you have room to sleep 3 or 4 kids no problem - or adults! Make sure you know exactly where you want them, as moving once assembled is a beast. I bought some slim stick-up lights to affix to the 'ceiling' of the lower bunk to read stories by. Only downside I see is the stickers to cover the screw holes are just ok - there's likely a better way to cover the holes than these. Overall, strong recommend for this product.
We absolutely love these (full over full) bunk beds. It’s great quality, cute, and easy to put together. We have not installed the trundle, but we have it ready to be put together when we decide the storage space under the bed isn’t needed more.
Just built 2 of these. It is helpful to have a power drill with bits. I would guess it will cut time by 30 to 45 minutes. It took about 2 hours to build the first and 1:45 to build the second. I used 6 inch mattresses and put thin OSB at $14 a piece from the local lumber yard for each as a better base.
The slats and metal are fine but based on the mattresses and my 5 boys, I have had good lucknwoth thin wood. Boxes work well to spread the weight as well. The slats were a bit far apart for my taste so the small investment in wood solved that and only added .5 inches. Be careful about getting mattresses that are 6,7 or maybe 8 inches so you have plenty of height so kids don't roll off the bunks and have the protection they need. This is true of any bunk. A high matress reduces the preotection.
We paid $740 for each. Seems solid, boards make the mattresses we bought feel even better. Overall, so far we are happy amd these are very nice looking and sturdy.
Very good quality and the bed was easy to assemble. It was a little higher than I thought it would be, so my 2 year old daughter struggles a little to climb in (We have an 8'' mattress). She did roll off the bed on the first night, but thankfully, I had the trundle open so she landed on another mattress and didn't even wake up.
Great buy!
Looks very nice, however, the wooden planks at the base of each mattress are very breakable. On the first day, my brother sat on the bed and a plank on the bottom bunk broke. Not too long after that one broke under me as I was kneeling on the top bunk while making the bed. The description says that each bed should hold up to 400 lbs, yet both my brother and I are less than 200 lbs
Good bunk bed quite sturdy and came earlier than expected, good experience overall
