I hadn't considered this faucet as it looks a little funky, but the 5-star reviews forced me to look into it. I then bought the stainless version and installed it today. One thing I noticed was the quality construction and fit and finish over a cheaper product I had tried (<$100). You could tell right away the braided hoses were beefier, the lock ring design for the main shaft was a better design (brass lock ring with two Phillips screws to secure the adjustment and prevent it from loosening - no cheap plastic material). The design of the Kraus also facilitated installation. Bottom line is you get what you pay for, but the price is not crazy stupid like a Moen.
As for function, this type of faucet design can't be beat, because you can swivel the gooseneck from side to side easily, so you can move it out of the way. The faucet handle is designed with a 90 degree sweep so you can install the faucet with little clearance to the back wall of the sink. And of course, the nozzle detaches and you can pull the hose out up to 2 feet so it can reach outside the sink. What I really like is the shower feature of the nozzle because it has very good pressure so I can use less water since I don't have to open the faucet handle more than 20% of max.
I was lucky because even though my house is 80 years old with an old sink, the nozzle of the Kraus aims exactly down the center of the drain after I installed it! The high water pressure of the nozzle spray helps to clean out the two sink screens I have so they don't clog so often anymore (like every 3-4 days they get clogged with food scum).
I installed the faucet and the hot water line leaks. It's broken form the inside and wiggles in place unlike the cold water line that works fine. It looks great on my dark grey granite counter top. The sprayer is light weight plastic so I'll be interested in seeing how long it lasts. The company had me send a video of the defect and told me that the water lines can not be replaced. I consider this a con for the product. The lines are built in to the faucet. They emailed me back and said that I need to install washers that I can buy separately to make them water tight. Not true. My cold water line works perfectly fine without an additional, un-supplied washer.. The hot water line is broken on the inside. I have no working kitchen faucet until this is resolved and I'm super frustrated.
***Update: Kraus said they will replace the entire faucet so once I receive it I hopefully will be all set.
****** Great custumer service. The new one works perfect and looks great.
We are very happy with this faucet. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit reluctant due to the complaints about the plastic head. To be honest, while waiting for it, I forgot that part. When it arrived, my husband was disappointed. We have been using it now for almost 2 months, and I have to say, we love it! We don't even realize that it's plastic. The faucet is very sleek and it looks great in the kitchen. I highly recommend it
I bought this Kraus model for my new kitchen, which is very modern & sleek in design with white shaker cabinetry and marble countertops, it looks right in place! It is also very functional with its extendable feature and option to switch the water flow which I love for quick power dish rinse or more soft fruit washing. I have owned other Kraus faucets and sinks and very happy with their quality and durability, sure that my new favorite addition will stand to same high standards!
This thing is perfect.
1. Who cares if the sprayer head isn't metal?? It's weight is appropriate for not pulling down on the hose. It stays in place. It is very functional and looks exactly like the rest of the faucet (Stainless version).
2. Incredible water pressure!
3. Instal was SUPER easy. Long hoses are already attached on the faucet. I didn't need anything else to put it in place. Also incorporates set screws to the plate underneath saving you the hassle of getting a wrench way up under your cabinets.
4. Packaged beautifully and with good information. Great company! No cons as of now!
5. What an incredible value. Beats out many $300+ faucets I've seen at our local stores.
No complaints or cons here at all. Highly recommended.
2020 update!
No leaks or other issues to speak of! We’re still thrilled with this faucet. The finish resists spotting very well, the sprayer continues to work perfectly and water pressure is great. Can’t recommend this highly enough!
It’s has the “wow” factor, upon installation. This was by far, NOT an impulse buy. I totally did my research, homework, by reading product reviews on multiple websites. However...I can say that after researching the top box stores pricing on this item, it was cheaper on Amazon, and I received it 2 days later, ordering it with my Amazon Prime membership. I love this faucet, and the reality exceeded my expectation. Sturdy, well designed, and well made. Very easy and quick installation, according to my husband.
Faucet was professionally installed by a plumber but the lower portion of the handle swivels from right to left, very odd. The faucet assembly itself is tightened all the way and the base itself is
not moving, see the video. Possibly defected but paid $100 to have this installed and will now have to spend another $100 to have another fixture put in. Spend your money elsewhere!
My plumber told me that he sees a lot of faucets and it's the nicest he's ever installed. He was very surprised by the price.I probably could have installed myself, but I was having other work done after a freeze/pipe burst. This faucet looks great and has good pressure too. It makes a very very quiet humming noise when on, but doesn't bother me. Very expensive looking and feels good for under $200. Thanks Kraus for making me a hit with my plumber
I was surprised at the quality of the faucet. It's heavy duty. The fasteners are heavy brass. Other manufacturers cheap out and use aluminum now, maybe because aluminum will flex a little on uneven surfaces? I don't know. Also, this is one of the last units Kraus makes now that is 100% mounted and secured from underneath the sink. It's very robust. All new designs from Kraus and other manufacturers now have transitioned over to "install from the top" - no longer need to go under the sink to install it. This is a bad idea, in my opinion, and the "top install" method is not as secure as there are only 2 wedges holding it in place. Nice idea, but more components in the top install method, and the two little wedges don't leave me with any confidence that they will hold up well. I would still poke my head under the sink to make sure the wedges are properly holding onto something anyway - so the entire idea is just another way for the industry to make things easier and cheaper, shortening the life of the product so you have to buy again.
The only downside to this unit is that i was not able to find a matching soap dispenser and unable to find a matching bar faucet for it. That's it. I was forced to move it to the laundry room and buy a coordinating Kohler set for nearly $1000.
I did a lot of research before buying a faucet and we chose this one, thankfully! It's fantastic. I love the spray setting - it doesn't get crazy and makes a mess like some do. I like that it auto switches back to stream when tap is turned off. the cord pulls out easily and fits back into clamp easily. Very happy with this faucet.
I'll update over time if this thing suddenly explodes. It installed easily enough, the feed hoses have a lot of extra length on them, I didn't even need half of it. No leaks and the hose is really easy to pull in / retract back when filling things. Make sure to adjust where you clamp the retraction weight to limit how much hose you want to pull out, and how it will retract.
About the only complaint I'd have is that I wash my own dishes, and when rinsing a bigger item I'll rinse with hot water meaning that the handle lever is pointed towards me. When moving around the big object to rinse it I'll sometimes tap the handle thus turning off the water or making it cold instead. I don't really see how that could be fixed without changing the handle type, I guess the pin on the end of the handle could be about half the length? Either way I've just started pulling out the hose and moving it around the item to rinse it .. which I guess is half the point of having a retractable hose faucet isn't it...
Realistically that's just a small nitpick. I went through Rona and Home Depot and all the faucets they had for up to 2x the price of this thing had more plastic components than this, and did I mention they were 2x the cost? I should add I bought an open box unit that arrived and looked like it was never even opened, so if you're looking for a deal check out those open box units...
