We purchased this cart to put a home freeze dryer on based on the reviews for stability that we read. I'm finding two issues with the cart after assembly. The first is that the little wrench for the wheels that was included does not fit the nuts. It works okay at first but when you put pressure on it to finish screwing down the wheels, it slips off - every time. So that is basically useless. The space between where the nut is and the bottom of the cart is pretty narrow so a traditional crescent wrench won't fit in that space. That was frustrating. Had to use needle nose vice grips to get in there.
The second concern is a big one for me. After assembly, the cart is skewed in such a way that I don't feel comfortable placing a very expensive freeze dryer on it. I can just see it hitting the floor because the cart failed.
Overall, it's nice looking but I doubt it will stand up to serious weight (60lbs) for any length of time. For that reason, this was a useless purchase for me.
Good solid table. The other reviews where correct in that the wheels suck. They just drag instead of roll on the floor. We went to our local Lowe’s and got replacement caster wheels. Now it rolls like a charm smoothly, no issues. The shelves were not the right height we needed so we drilled different holes and works perfectly for what we needed it for(indoor grill and air fryer).
1. I bought this unit to hold my tower PC. I expected the top shelf to be real wood. When I received the unit I found out that it is simply a wood laminate suck onto a composite.
2. I bought this particular unit over the darker stained version because this one was supposed to come with feet that I could screw into the bottom instead of using the wheels. The unit did not come with the feet. I even called the company to see if it would come with feet and they said that it would.
3. When I was putting this unit together I noticed that many of the bolts and nuts don't have the same thread so they wouldn't work together. Out of 24 bolts and nuts, 8 of them won't screw into each other. I will have to go and buy new bolts at the hardware store to make sure that they work.
4. These have two wire mesh shelves to put extra items on. I applied pressure on them with my hand to test how strong I noticed that they are quite sharp and that with only a little bit of pressure the welds that keep the mesh attached to the frame was starting to come apart. Again I had to go to the hardware store and buy shelving material to put over the mesh to make it stronger and to protect myself and my belongings against the sharpness of the shelves.
Overall I kept the shelves because I need something and I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning but I would not recommend it to anyone else. I really wanted this unit to work and I was really excited by it but it has just been one let down after another.
Just put this cart together and I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the quality of the whole thing and with how easy it was to assemble. This cart is sturdy but also not too heavy despite being made of mostly metal; the top most shelf is not solid wood but looks and almost feels like it. I will say, I basically stripped the little tool by tightening the screws so in future orders I'd hope to see a more sturdy tool but nonetheless, it served it's purpose. Just don't expect to use it for a second assembly.
After finding this little gem on Amazon and reading the many positive comments--I thought to myself, if this thing can survive for over a year in an elementary classroom, as a portable desk, then it'll DEFINITELY hold up standing still in our library/music room!
I chose to go wheel-less based on other reviews saying the wheels weren't functional. For our particular needs, we didn't need this cart to be portable anyway. However, if I did need a portable cart, I'd surely want to purchase this one again. With that being said, I greatly appreciated the option to use adjustable "feet" instead because our cart sits half on an area rug and half on the wood floor (another reason I chose to go wheel-less). The "feet" can be screwed into each of the 4 corners of the base and tightened to the desired height--I had no problem whatsoever getting my cart perfectly level by doing this.
If you're thinking of purchasing this cart, I'd highly recommend it.
Purchased two SONGMICS Vintage Serving Cart, 3-Tier Kitchen Utility Carts. The first unit assembled rather quick and when finished look great.
The second unit was a different story. After the unit was assembled the unit was skewed so much that I had to disassemble it and put it back together again rearranging the shelves and legs. After adjusting the feet to where one of the four legs is perfectly vertical then the other three legs weren't. Also the top shelf isn't square with the metal frame it's screwed to. Anyway I finally got the unit to where it acceptable.
The casters are very flimsy but in most situations they will work efficiently. Since in my situation I'm placing the two units end to end to where the tops of the units need to be aligned. In this case I decided to use the supplied feet rather than the casters.
I still plan to purchase a few additional units. I've noticed over the years that furniture units like this 'from many manufactures' all have the same issues.
My advice is not to fully tighten any of the screws until all the screws are in place. I also used a Tri and Mitre Square to help with the alignment.
Edit: 11/07/18 Pertaining to the second unit I decided again loosen all the screws and have a friend twist the frame (by holding onto the top shelf and twisting) until everything was in alignment. He held the unit in this position while I re-tightened all the screws. It now looks pretty good. As far as the casters are concerned better caster wheels can be easily purchased from Amazon or any hardware store.
I've now upgraded my four star rating to five stars.
Got this to use as my printer table. Almost the perfect size for my laser printer and fits nicely into the corner. The bottom shelf is for my UPS and NAS and the middle shelf is for my ONT and router. I installed the wheels so it would be easy to pull out from the corner when needed but I wish they had locks.
Small issue is the wire shelves have a slight warp but it doesn't matter too much for what I'm using it for.
Been meaning to post an update for a while. The wire mesh shelves bowed significantly with the weight of my UPS so I had to cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to 23 1/4" by 15 1/4" to put on top of the shelf before putting my UPS on the cart.
This arrived much faster than I anticipated! Simple instructions with the hardware and tools needed for a one person job. It fits the space beneath my cupboards perfectly for out of the way storage. It keeps my small appliances off the counter when not in use. I’m very happy with this product!
I recently purchased a 3D printer that I needed access to the other side quite often, so having it sitting on my credenza in the office was just too awkward. I purchased this stand, and it arrived next day. Very simple to assemble sitting in a chair. Very sturdy stand, that was within half an inch of the height of my credenza made it a perfect fit beside it. Setting the printer on some felt pads made it slide too easily on the upper shelf so I took 4 one inch ratchet tie down straps, ran 2 of them front to back and ran the other 2 side to side, making sure to run then over and under to create a basket weave sort of.
The stand rolls easily and is very flat on a flat floor and is so sturdy you can use it find where your floor is uneven. There is no flex to it when going across the floor.
This product is well made and nicely finished. It is sturdy and assembled really nicely. Casters are nice and large, rolls easily and is perfectly suited to my little man-cave music recording station. Would buy again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful, sturdy, easy to assemble.
Beware the casters are really free rolling as they do not have locks. So, the cart may be rolling free in certain circumstances.
Also, the board has the great vintage look of wood but this is made of particleboard. So, definitely not water resistant.
