Before I bought this I had these plastic bags just stuffed inside each other in my pantry cupboard and it looked really tacky, plus took up a lot of space on the bottom shelf. This thing is so simple and effective and looks WONDERFUL by comparison! It works as advertised for the most part, but I had a heck of a time trying to get this to stay stuck on the wall. It kept falling off! It took me buying and applying several additional command brand adhesive strips to stay on the wall which is lame. Were it not for that sticking problem I would've given it stars. Now that it stays on the wall I think it's great. The product itself is great for helping me organize my pantry, but they should really fix the sticking to the wall problem.
And for the record, I did NOT receive this product free or at a discount. I paid full price for it and am writing this review just to help other people who pay full price for stuff too!
Pros:
• flat profile fit well into a small pantry with a folding door
• the faux metal piece and the black plastic parts look good and are put together solidly
• it fits 35 bags just balling them up and stuffing into the top
• the bags come out the front really well and one at a time...it works exactly like it's supposed to
• screws included and mounting tape already on...I used the screws, so not sure how well the tape works...command strips would definitely work on this
• not a big thing, but packaged nicely
Cons:
• definitely light weight...I think it'll last just fine but it's very light...it's about what you'd expect for the price
• mounting with the screws worked fine but wasn't super easy...the holes on the back are 6 and 5/8 inches apart, so you really need to measure exactly
• the hole at the top is plastic and the ring at the bottom on the inside isn't rounded off, so it's fairly uncomfortable to put the bags in...it's not a huge issue but worth mentioning
There's only a few things that you need to know about something that merely holds plastic bags.
Number one: does it hold enough bags that it seems worth it? Yes.
Number two: When I jam way too many bags in there, does it fall off the wall? Fortunately, no.
Number three does it look stupid or cheap? Answer no.
Overall result: good product, good price, good fasteners so I didn't need to use any screw to install it. Win!
This is the worst plastic bag holder! When we moved into a new house, I got this simple human plastic bag holder bc it was more attractive than the ikea one I had in my old house. This thing holds very few bags- I was always taking mine out and bringing them back to the grocery store to recycle bc it fills up very quickly. It’s not easy to stuff bag in or to get bags out. I finally decided to go back to my ikea plastic bag holder- for $6 that flimsy piece of plastic is a workhorse that seems to hold an infinite number of bags. Do not bother w this item! Ikea instead!
I'd seen this product for years and never really considered buying it until grocery bags invaded the cabinet under my kitchen sink. I had collected so many bags, for trash disposal (small NYC apartment, small garbage chute) that I had to take them all out whenever I needed some cleaning supply hiding at the very back of the cabinet and then throw them all back in. I had never seen that cabinet as neat and tidy as I did when I finally decided to buy this bag dispenser and stick it to the door of the cabinet. Having the dispenser also helped me decide which bags were worth keeping and which were not (bags that were too small, for example). Setting it up was a breeze, so is putting the bags in the dispenser and pulling them out. The long slot on the front lets you see a good amount of bags, and, if you have more than one kind or size, you can simply pull the one you need at the moment.
Yes, plastic is bad, paper is good, but sometimes you don't have a choice.
So I bought one last year and absolutely love it. As my family has grown I've needed more ways of organizing. I found this product perfect for my kitchen. Good quality for a good price and a 10 year warranty!!! What more could u ask for? It's these type of products that keep customers. I just bought 3 more.
This product is what I expected. The dispenser is lightweight and comes with two mounting options. You can either hang it with a screw or you can use the double sided tape strips that are already attached to the back of the dispenser. I chose to use the screw so that I could easily take it off of the wall if needed. The dispenser holds a reasonable amount of bags for my family of 3 that uses a couple of bags a week. The product itself is lightweight; both the plastic no stainless are very thin with a flimsy feel. This "flimsy feel" is not a problem at all when you consider the function of this item. This dispenser is exactly what I needed and expected. It saves space and cleaned up my laundry room!
The screw holes are wimpy, the back is flimsy, so if you tighten down, it still moves around. There are two strips of the cheapest variety of double face tape that literally not only does not stick to any surface with the weight of the device itself but actually fall off the back of the dispenser. There is a 3M product that is super sticky and strong. Why not use that double face tape? Is it that much more expensive? The design is good, I guess I can't complain, but the hole at the top is too small by my estimation. And why not have a rubberized pull hole as well? Someone complained about their kid cutting his hand. I don't see that happening, but the edges are rolled and its not impossible. A rubberized cover would have been better. All in all a fair attempt at best.
This is the second one of these I ordered, this one was for a relative.
I've owned one for over 18 months now, and found it very good indeed.
As you can see from the picture its still looking in excellent condition, even in the sunlight (which tends to affect plastics usually)
No sharp edges, bags go in, and come out easily.
Its fixed to the wall, and has not come away.
So very happy with it.
I ordered 2 carrier bag holders that I have attached on the inside of a cupboard door.
Other reviewers said that they had used the sticky adhesive at the top and bottom of the carrier bag holder to attach this to their wall or cupboard door and after a short period of time the holder then fell off so I decided to put the 2 screws provided into the cupboard door and then slot the holder into place.
It was really easy to drill the screws in and the hook the carrier bag holder on, taking only a couple of minutes.
I have rated the product a 4 star as the description says that it can hold 30 carrier bags however I can fit 20 comfortably in mine.
I wouldn’t recommend this to store the new style of carrier bag that is thicker that you pay for at the supermarket, only the older thinner style.
As you can see by the photo I have taken I had put a thicker 5p carrier bag in the bottom carrier bag holder and they are hard to push into the holder and pull out and take up a lot of space, so if wanting to use for thicker bags you would fit less than 20 thick carrier bags in.
I decided to purchase a material drawstring carrier bag holder for the thick carrier bags that I have.
The carrier bag holder looks stylish and is easy to clean. I like the fact that you do not have to open it up as with some material carrier bag holders you have to undo the drawstring, you can just open the cupboard door and pull a carrier bag straight out so it is quick and easy to use.
you'll read that the sticky pads aren't strong enough and on their own they aren't, but before you install, if you push a bag in and pull it out it will be quite reasonable to establish that anything other than screws or an epoxy type pad wont keep this thing on the cupboard door, so use both and then one supports the other and i'm sure it will last a very long time. Good value for money at the moment for 9.99. I find simple human designing things along a similar idea to Joseph Joseph and both are great brands. Works just fine with bags for life too as thats all i have inside it,
No good for thicker plastic carrier bags like bags for life as they get stuck in the top and bottom. Would presumably be ok when secured to wall by screw mounts but the tape it comes with is not strong enough to support it when you are pushing bags in and pulling bags out. It just falls off the wall. Even tried it with some 3m command Velcro and it still fell off. Think I’ll get a canvas carrier bag holder instead. Looks nice though and I can vouch for its durability as it’s survived falling off the wall many times with not even a dent ;-)
I found the double sided tape provided was not strong enough to hold this and it fell off on day one. It was an easy fix though as I applied my own double sided tape to a wider area on the back. Seems solid as a rock now and now keeps things tidy. We installed ours on the inside door cupboard and is working great. Out of sight but easy access.
