This is a fantastic kitchen set for my 2 year old. It looks comparable to another higher end kitchen set that runs about $600 for a fraction of the cost. I wanted something not pink, blue, multicolor or white and this was the best grey one I found. The reason I docked a star is because the directions were terrible, worst than putting together something from Ikea. My husband almost gave up, so many screws, I mean who makes screws that are 1 mm different?! It was a bit time consuming to sort them out.
I purchased a bunch of play food and different kitchen items for the kids to play with, haven't put all of it out, less for me to clean up, ha. I do wish the oven had a shelf in it because I think it's a little lame you can fit more in it since it has the height room. I may purchase a wire rack later.
Overall it's a simple kitchen that has kept our daughter entertained for a long time, even my 9 month old likes to pull up on it (though I don't think the doors would withstand the weight of him pulling up).
I also purchased marble contact paper to "upgrade" the kitchen sick and stove area. I meaured it out and used an exacto knife to cut out the holes for the stove and sink. Most people who visit us think it came like that. We love this kitchen and would recommend it, just be patient while assembling it.
My daughter is pictured for height reference, she's 35 inches.
Do NOT buy this at the “full price” of $260. My husband is pretty upset we even paid $150 for it. I love the look of these modern kitchen and thought this was a steal compared to other $700 versions. But saving that money does mean a cut in quality, at least with this kitchen. Overall it’s a decent kitchen but it does need some help in the construction & quality aspect.
A LOT of our parts came with dings, scrapes and even different colored paint brushed on them. Luckily we could reverse most of them so it didn’t show but some were unavoidable. These are not natural wood marks (pretty sure none of this is natural wood anyways), they were all done after the gray paint was on and you could see the unfinished wood underneath. So obviously the care given when packaging and quality inspection could be better.
The faucet is EXTREMELY flimsy and needs more than just two threads for the screw to hold it in place. Our toddlers had it unintentionally off in no time. All the other handles feel secure which is a relief.
Some of the doors took a lot of work to line up and the fridge doors wouldn’t despite everything we tried. The pieces with dowpins are super wiggly and not secure, screws definitely would have been better. Luckily those aren’t crucial parts of the kitchen.
I did want to mention you there’s a dowpin holding the ice cube machine from actually allowing them through. If you remove it with some pliers the part will move freely and allow the ice cubes through. Our instructions never mentioned this so I figured I would put it here.
As far as instructions and assembly goes, if you can assemble IKEA furniture, you can assemble this. The instructions are little to no help but if you read a head and look at future diagrams it helps. We’ve put together other play kitchens and they’re all tedious and time consuming.
This kitchen looks good but it could be constructed better and quality control could be stricter. We’ve emailed for replacement parts for flaws that can’t be overlooked. Regardless of those flaws our girls still loved it on Christmas morning and still do. Your kids won’t care if there’s a broken timer, so email customer service for a replacement and let them play as usual.
My husband also wants me to stress his annoyance with the clocks reading two different times. I mean our kids can’t tell time and even if they could I’m not sure they’d care. But still it is weird.
It looks like they're selling the same product built by different manufacturers and there's no way to know which version of this product you're getting. Note that on the front of the refrigerator you can see the screws on the doors as well as no vent detail above the doors. On the product pictures and other customer review pictures you don't see the screws and the refrigerator top has the venting detail. The same goes for the oven/sink as you can see the screws on the face. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED as the one I received looks very cheap and poorly constructed. I would not have purchased this product had I known what it was ACTUALLY going to look like versus what is shown in pictures. Bought this for my child for Christmas and wonder if there's any chance to get this resolved before Christmas???? Not happy.
Did a lot of research for a new play kitchen and we can compare this one to our last kidkraft island play kitchen. With that being said, the look of this kitchen is very pleasing but for the price it is horrible. We thought we were getting a good deal for 150. Opening the box, everything looked beautiful packed and we were suprised to see rough sides and scratches once we were putting it together. The doors did not fit perfectly together and there was a missing metal piece that attaches the door to the shelf. (Still can work without it but it may be a future problem). It isn't as sturdy as we hoped and does not seem like it will last long. The look is what we were looking for but the quality is where it really lacks and for the price is not worth it. I think for this price it should have came with more accessories and battery powered options like for the fridge door screen or just anything else that could make this a little extra for the kids.
UPDATE THIS HAS BEEN IN MY HOME FOR A DAY AND IT HAS BECOME A SERIOUS HAZARD. THE DOOR JUST BROKE AND COULD HAVE INJURED MY KIDS THANK GOD IT DIDNT. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISPLEASED. RETURNING IT.
The assembly was painstaking, but the instructions were relatively easy to follow, so I had it done in about two hours. It looks absolutely gorgeous, even better than my own kitchen! It’s pretty sturdy, but if your toddler loves slamming doors then keep an eye on them unless you have the kitchen screwed to the wall. My girl absolutely loves it, plays with it everyday and it’s the best thing we’ve ever bought her. The little ice machine is such a fun touch and she laughed her head off when we showed her it on Christmas Day.
I highly recommend this kitchen, but make sure you’ve got a glass of wine/coffee at hand during the assembly!
Considering the poor quality of the materials and of the functional design, this item's worth significantly less than what I paid for it (£140), in my view (I'd say £70 tops). If I'd known about these issues beforehand, I wouldn't have bought this item; if the item weren't so big and heavy, I would have already returned it for a refund. Let's review the details.
First off, the box of the item's heavy, so you'll want at least one strong adult to carry it to the place where you want to assemble it.
The problems with this item start when you open the packaging. The styrofoam, which is probably of the worst quality I've ever seen, easily breaks upon unpacking, leaving small pieces everywhere.
Inspecting the different parts, it's clear that the manufacturer's materials choices and quality-assurance standards are far below par—especially considering the item's price. In my case, one of the key parts of the item (the hob top) was chipped, out of the box. In other cases, parts didn't properly align, in one case meaning that I had to cut a wooden sheet for it to properly properly slot in. Generally, there were a lot of minor cosmetic issues. See the photos for an illustration of these problems.
While lengthy (around 2 hours), assembly is simple thanks to the clear instructions and clever labeling of the different parts (stickers with letters).
Once it's built, the item looks nice, and my kids (aged 2.5 and 4) have been quite happy with it so far.
The build quality is my main gripe with this item. For the most part, it's made of "fake wood" (specifically, MDF, or medium-density fibreboard). The pieces tend to be very thin and, as noted above, of poor quality. Within half an hour's play time (!), my 4-year-old broke off the ice-cube dispenser in the item's fridge door; there were only 2 short screws holding the dispenser in place, which when I fixed it I replaced by sharper, longer screws. To close the different doors, you're supposed to gently lift and close them at the same time. Most young children won't have the patience nor the skill to do this—even I as an adult find it difficult. So, I wonder how long it'll take before the doors will break under the force exerted on them by the kids when they (try to) close them. Time will tell how long this item will last, but my sense is it won't be long before it ends up in the rubbish.
Damaged shelf’s
Fridge doors don’t close
Chipped wood
When assembling the kitchen the hole didn’t fit in the right place
The finishing is appalling
Amazon service has also been appalling
Complete waste of money and time
Very unhappy with this product
I asked my child to cook me something nice and i was brought back a piece of plastic roast (which by the way didn't even come with it!) and then I said if eat it later and stored it in the fridge (as you do)....and to my disbelief the fridge was room tempersture.....shocking
Item returned as it arrived with paint chipped off and scratches on worktop. It also did not look the same as the image on Amazon. All screws were visible and not a slick neat finish as shown in image! Very disappointed and would really not recommend this product. Not worth the money!
