Vibe 12-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress (Only) - Queen

Vibe 12-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress (Only) - Queen

Read reviews that mention:

It seems to be a common theme that those of us that need a new mattress, but at an affordable price, do a ton of research. I searched for weeks online for different mattresses at different stores and tried to see who was having specials (I tried to know which one I wanted by Amazon Prime week, but I just wasn't ready to decide by then!). I looked at beds that had thousands of reviews because I thought those would be most reliable due to the quantity of those that had tried the bed. I looked at beds that didn't have a ton of reviews (like this one with I think like 400-700 hundred, I can't remember), and I also did Google searches to find more thorough reviews from professionals. My goal was to buy a king size mattress for $250-$300. I was really close to picking the Amazon Basics (or something like that) and I can't remember exactly what pushed me to this bed, but I think this one was actually a bit less expensive for the 12in size vs the 10 inch and from my research I did gather that the general consensus was to get as many inches as possible (that's what she said) because a memory foam bed probably wouldn’t expand as largely as it should. So the Vibe bed it was!

I ordered on a Thursday and it was supposed to arrive on Saturday (the day my new bed was to arrive), but lo and behold I had it by Friday night! As you see the box came it a very good condition (something I think some have complained about). So I am a single woman and had to get it up to my bedroom on the second floor. I will say it took a bit of elbow grease, but I managed to walk it into the house and then slide the box upstairs and into my room. DEFINITELY do not remove the bed from the box until you are ready to open it.

Once upstairs, I laid some blankets down and then pulled the box off (while leaving the plastic on). I unrolled the mattress and it expanded to about 8 inches in less than 20 minutes and 10 in less than 20. I couldn't resist trying it out, so I cut the plastic a little bit and crawled in (seems weird, but with two kids I did not want that plastic off until the mattress was going to be immediately covered with a mattress protector and sheet!). It was decently comfy!

Like it wasn't super firm by any means, but my ideal bed is one that literally feels like a super soft pillow, so I did notice a difference there, but it was 95% fine. Like I know a topper would take this bed to 110% amazing so I am good with that.

Two days later (I didn't really check the next day) and the bed was fully at it's 12 inches. I was VERY impressed, because the pics in some review of memory foam beds made it look like the edges of the mattress never really took on a rounded square shape. Not this one! This bed fully looks like a completely even, regular mattress.

And I have been super tired lately so that could contribute, but honestly I have never slept better on a bed! I set an alarm to wake me up halfway though the night so I can see that I have more time to sleep, and with this bed I always miss that alarm!

I snuggle up in this bed with my nice warm comforter and that is all she wrote!

I have no comment about whether the mattress gets hot, because with comforters I would have no idea how someone is able to attribute being hot to the mattress and not, um the covers?

Overall the only thing that could make this bed better is if it was just a smidgen softer, but truly for the price I would definitely pick this bed again.

Some memory foam users complain that the sides begin to sag eventually so I am praying I don't encounter that. Overall, I know this review is rather lengthy, but I wanted to give a review that would have empowered me to take the plunge when I was shopping. Hope this helps!

8/5/20 Update:

As a single person I sleep on one side of the bed and I will admit this side is lower. Still would buy this mattress!

Alright let's start from the beginning, the mattress arrived in a box that appeared to survive some great battle. My guess is it was accosted by a secret society of ninjas sworn to a life of assassinating mattresses, no doubt hired by one of those big box mattress stores. But my mattress fought against all odds and came out the victor.

Once the box was removed I found the mattress quite flat and doubled bagged (it kinda looked liked it was trapped like General Zod in Superman 2 when he was trapped in that mirror thing then thrown into space), I set forth to remove the plastic and free my new mattress from its infernal prison to which it thanked me by springing to life. I positioned my new mattress on my platform bed frame and left it to get it's swole on.

After a few hours, I revisited my mattress with a tape measure and confirmed it reached its full potential. Now it was time to try it out. After making my new bed I settled in for the night and my bed instantly molded to me like a warm hug from all directions. Not to firm, not too soft, just right. The one drawback is when you try to move in the night. Because the mattress molds to you when you try to escape it's harder than getting away from that stage 5 clinger girlfriend you had in high school (I'm looking at you, Stacey!)

Honestly, the 10-year warranty is fairly useless given the percentages they will refund versus the cost of the mattress but at the same time that is cool with me. Even if I got a few years out of this mattress I've gotten my money's worth.

If you're on the fence about getting this or getting one of it's high priced cousins the answer is easy, get this mattress, it is fantastic. Just hope yours too will survive the ninja attacks in route!
Update: I have changed my 4 star rating to a 5 star rating. I realized that part of the problem with softness was actually my box springs. I am in love with this mattress so much. I just purchased a 2nd queen size mattress. The queen arrived with packaging intact this time. It’s the perfect firmness. Not too soft, not to hard. Just right. I was really excited about this mattress. It arrived with the packaging completely destroyed. Which seems to be a common theme reading the other reviews. Quite honestly, if actually made it getting out of the box a little easier.

First impressions:

Pros:
It is a full 12 inches
It did NOT have an odor
I was able to sleep on it the first night
It is very comfortable, not a hard mattress at all not too soft.
It doesn’t get hot.

Cons
Package was destroyed
It’s a little difficult to sit up for long periods of time as you sink into it
Getting out of bed takes some getting used to.

UPDATE! IVE HAD THE MATTRESS FOR A MONTH NOW AND MY OPINION HAS CHNAGED. IT DOESNT KEEP ITS MEMORY FOAM SHAPE. I HAVE AN INDENTATION IN THE MATTRESS WHERE I SLEEP. TUE MATTRESS NOW CAUSES ME PAIN BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE ITS SUPPORT HAS LESSENED.

I will most likely purchase a newer, more expensive, tried and tested mattress in the very near future.
Read all of the reviews and this bed sounded very promising. Have been using the bed for one week and two of us are getting no sleep. We toss and turn all night and I am waking up sore. Last night I couldn't take it anymore and slept on our sofa. I am approx 140 lbs and Hubby is around 240 lbs and firmness does not work for either one of us.
Now reading back on reviews, my guess is that most of the hype was all about the mattress expanding more than the actual comfort of the mattress and those who were used to a firm mattress to begin with. To be fair I have given a 2 star rating based on the fact that we went from a soft mattress to firm. Will try to sell the mattress as I don't even want it in the spare room. I would be upset with myself for allowing good Company to sleep on this mattress.

I have had this for about a month, it’s a nice mattress well packaged, and fast deliver,
Expanded to the full 12” on 3 corner. The 4th corner only 10” I would Give a higher rating otherwise. Don’t feel the pressure point like I do with my $2k memory foam mattress, this mattress is not for the spare bedroom. To be fair I but 2 mattresses the second one there were no issues at all.
Intro. A discussion about the health value of sound sleep. This one may be a little longer than usual and will speak about: biology, neurology, a shout out to Nicolas Tesla and a bit of history about beds and my personal sleep platforms over the years. But mostly it is about the new bed and first sleep.
The stats. It is a Classics Brand Vibe 12 inch gel memory foam, it is 75 inches by 54 inches by 12 inches. It has 3 layers, 2 inches of gel infused memory foam, 3 inches of gel memory comfort foam and a 7 inch high density polysomething foam. It is anti microbial, hypoallergenic, anti dust mites and certified R pur. It weights 74 lbs. It came in a box, puffed up like a marshmallow when the plastic was removed and had absolutely no smell. It has a 10 year warrantee. It comes from CHAI -NAA as Trump likes to pronounce it. It was an Amazon Prime deal, so I managed to give Trump the finger on 2 fronts.
The pictures. The first one is the old bed but mostly shows a cool picture of the bed spread. Second, a better shot of the lump, the third, the biohazard in the raw. The fourth the new bed with the mattress pad in place and finally the new bed made up. I know, Spider-Man, because he can do whatever a spider can.
A little personal sleep history. I have a gypsy soul and the biggest impactful statement from an esteemed social work prof who said "you can have one year of experience repeated 20 times or you can have 20 years of experience" was a guiding principal in my career. With that philosophical tenet in hand I moved around a lot. As a result, I have slept on many a bed, in many places including an uninsulated cabin in the high arctic on musk-ox and caribou skins. Sleep health has been varied but by far the worst period was the last 6 years of a 10 year stint at the hospital. 4 hours a night with a 45 minute snooze after supper. Some of you may have seen me at my most irritable best. Good sleep and lenght of sleep is very important. Now for a little biology, neurology and my buddy Tesla. Sleep is restorative, I think of it as the equivalent of charging your batteries. The brain goes into a process that is not unlike battery theory. Tesla was convinced that he could distribute electrical energy without wires. We can see this theory coming of age with WiFi, Bluetooth and we may just get there one day. So with that it mind think of your bed as sort of a charging pad. Just like charging cables some pads are better than others. When you lay down, close your eyes in the dark your brain begins to connect to restorative energy. The cerebral cortex, plugs in and starts secreting melatonin putting you into deep sleep. Next comes REM sleep, rapid eye movement and twitch. During this reoccurring but successively shorter periods you dream. This I posit it is the actual period of energy uptake. It is similar to amperage replacement in batteries as the battery fills the push of amperage gets lighter. During these period you cortex has paralyzed your major body movements. As said some sleep platforms are better than others. In the late 1800's spring mattress was the bed technology wonder of the age. When foam came of age it was usually as a topper to spring bed technology. In the late 1950 memory foam was developed for pressure relief in space flights. It found its way into medical applications and then finally beds made out of the stuff was developed. The chief complaint was that memory foam made for hot sleep. Evolution to solve this problem was gel infusion to draw heat away from the body. I've always slept sweaty hot so some concerns when I bought this bed. One night sleep summary, slept well just a little warm but only my head on the soon to be replaced pillows. One thing I noticed is that my sinus was clear. I really think the bio-hazard futon was impacting my musculoskeletal pain and my allergies. I was blaming it on my age. I'm curious to see how it does long term. Total cost, mattress, pad and 2 pillows to come 460 dollars. Small price to pay for proper self care.
Not excellent but fine. It was rolled up for delivery which kind of concerned me when I first opened it. It got to its regular size in about 5 hours. Got a bit of that “new” smell still, don’t know how to get rid of it. Not sure if I’d buy it again if I needed another bed.
