I found that when I cooked at home, the small trash can I had, could NOT hold all my food prep waste and trash, but it was inconvenient to have to take out the trash every single night. This can is 20L and for those like me who can't visualize volume, I added pictures with a half gallon milk carton for scale. I usually use the Glad Febreze and Gain trash bags so that my kitchen doesn't smell but I tried regular unscented bags and I couldn't really smell anything coming from the can! I am for sure going to get one to use for dirty towels and rags but I'm pretty sure these would do well as hampers as well (especialy for work out clothes and socks). I am not sure what all the complaints are about the hinge and lid. My trash can came fully assembled and I even stomped on the pedal but the lid never came off, nor any issues with the arm popping off. I love how when I step on the pedal, the lid comes up and stays up. Just a gentle nudge to close it. Way better than those electric sensor ones that never seem to open and close when you want it to.
I really like these trash cans! I was looking for a pair of large size kitchen cans that I could open without touching, I HATE touching the trash! I started with a pair of automatic electric cans but they were unreliable and had too small of a lid opening. Then I found these. They work well with a 30 gallon black trash bag from the rolls sold at Aldi. Those bags go all the way down to the bottom and don't cause the bag holder to slip. The one thing that I had to adjust to was the pedal. If you step too hard it flips past the point of gravity being able to close it and you'll have to touch it to close it, yuck. I just pay attention to how hard I press it and it closes fine on it's own. One of the cans has a little shipping wear on the front which just looks duller than the rest of the can (the left can in the photo) but it's not very noticeable. All in all I really like them and it is a great deal for the size and function!
Yes it's large. Also it's fairly inexpensive. BUT, huge BUT, the lid pops off A LOT. And by pop off I mean there's a metal hook that secures the lid in place and every other day that hook comes loose. Since there's no way to open the trash can other than pressing on the step with your foot (so the lid is stuck in place and you have to pry the lid off) so it gets kind of tricky to figure out how to get the hook back into the lid properly. If the lid comes loose when my kids are trying to throw something away, forget about it! They just leave their trash on the counter because they can't figure it out. (Mom to the rescue... and clean up
