My family and I were getting bitten by bedbugs and I wanted to try a cheaper remedy before paying a professional. I purchased this in March 2017 for all the mattresses and box springs in my home and since then none of us have gotten a single bite and almost 1 year later the covers are holding out strong with no rips or holes. Will definitely recommend this product!!!

UPDATE: Receiced an email from amazon about this review and wanted to provide another update. Its now March 2019 which is exactly 2 years after I purchased this product and we still haven’t gotten any bites and the covers are still holding out strong. Some say the bed bugs should be dead by now and the covers can be removed but I’m not taking any chances!

This mattress-protector seems designed for children having bed-wetting problems. If you're an adult who perhaps wishes to protect your mattress from bedbugs/fleas/spilled drinks/etc., forget it. This thing is lined with plastic, so you have a constant, loud rustling from it, not to mention intense body-heat/sweat bouncing back at you non-stop. Not sure what adult could tolerate sleeping on this, but I returned it immediately, and purchased a different brand (not sure why I strayed in the first place, my fault for trusting reviews). Check out the photo and notice the sheen on the lining. Look comfy?

We ordered this as part of dealing with a bed bug issue earlier this year. I truly believe because of these covers we were able to capture most of them, and without the covers we still would be dealing with the issue. We are bed bug free for several months now. They are some sneaky little suckers but if you're diligent and try to eradicate the issue as quickly as you can, it's possible to get rid of them. We did have to throw out our couch, but we were able to not let the issue get to far out of hand. It was hell for a few months though. Do not call pest control - they do not have the means to get rid of your problem permanently. It takes using these covers, diatomaceous earth powder, vacuuming. Setting sticky traps. OMG I'm getting itchy just thinking about those blood-sucking boogers! I hate them! Anyway.....these covers totally worth it!!

Not waterproof. My daughter had an accident the first day I put this on her brand new mattress and the pee went right through the mattress protector. Other than that I like the product but the whole reason I bought it was to have a waterproof protector and that it is not.

GREAT PRODUCT & fast shipping! My husband is the general manager of a well know pest control company that treats bed bug infestations and they supply matress covers (that are NOT cheap and run his company $60+) to thier customers after treatments. He was the one who put this cover on our matress and was very impressed with quality and price. He even made mention that he had to UNZIP the cover to let the air out so you know its completely sealed at the seems!

This is a great addition to a new or existing bed. I recently purchased a brand new Tempurpedic Pro Adapt and decided I'd buy one since I didn't have a "sealed" mattress protector on my previous bed! This is an tiny investment on my $$$$$$$ bed. I layered my bed using the Tempurpedic bed case, then the waterproof stain protector sheet then encased it with the Utopia. My first problem was hoping that the Utopia wouldn't be able to house all those layer and that it may have a tight fit, but it encased everything just fine. I probably could have purchased a pillow topper and it would have enough room (don't quote me on that though)! The zipper is the best part! It makes sure no dust mites or bed bugs (ewwww) can get into my mattress...EVER! I've recommended it to at least 5 friends and they've all agreed with what I said! NOW GO BUY IT!!!

This was purchased due to having a significant dust mite allergy. It was easy to get onto the mattress and fits our deep 13" mattress with material to spare. It doesn't feel like plastic or vinyl and we can't even tell it's on the bed. It has made a significant impact with my allergies.

So I ended up getting bed bugs from a trip I went on. I wanted to burn the house down! After a ton of cleaning and washing everything in my house a well reputable exterminator came to my home to treat it.
He sold me mattress covers for 2 beds and one box spring. It came to over $200. He didn’t have them with him so he was bringing them to my house on Monday. (It was a Friday he was here)
I decided to look on Amazon to see prices and I came across these. I ended up ordering them. When the exterminator came back with the ones I bought from him I told him I bought some on Amazon. Well he pretty much laughed at me. Told me I can’t buy anything like theirs. He said that the ones I bought would make noise, aren’t water proof, the zipper seam would rip, bugs can get in at the zipper pull because there is always space there, they are thin and would rip... blah blah blah... (he didn’t know I had them on my bed all ready.)
He pulls his out of the package to show me how “great” his was! He then proceeded to show me the zipper pull on his and said. “I put a zip tie here to make sure the zipper stays closed and no chance of bugs crawling in.” It was all I could do to refrain from rolling my eyes.
I then proceeded to tell him that the ones I bought are water proof. Same material as his and that there is a Velcro flap at the zipper pull that attaches firmly over the zipper pull and I wouldn’t need to “zip tie” it. He then told me I would be sorry when they arrived because sellers will say anything to sell their products and there are no protectors out there better then theirs. Lol
Sooo I asked him if he wanted to see them. He looked surprised and said “oh you already have them?!
So I brought him up. Showed him the protector I bought and the Velcro flap over the zipper pull and he was speechless! He honestly didn’t know what to say.
Bottom line: These were BETTER then the ones the exterminator brought!
They don’t make noise when you move in bed, the material is soft yet sturdy enough to not rip, the zipper is well made.
These protectors are AMAZING!
I highly recommend them!!

Does what it is purchased for, that is protect the mattresses from accidents involving small children and diaper mishaps...

While it does that, the next most important thing is there is no sound if you toss around on the bed...which is what forced us to buy this protector coz the existing one used to emit painful noises if anyone moved on the bed.

Finish is almost nylony...and if your mattress is thinner than the maximum thickness of the cover- thinner than 19 odd inches...it wil be a wobbly fit-like it is for ours.

We've used a few mattress covers in the past and these are by far the best build quality I have seen to date. The mattress cover has a soft, cloth like texture to it whereas the previous ones I have owned felt like vinyl or abrasive plastic. The zippers are heavier and more durable than the other mattress covers I've used as well. Just be aware that these mattress covers will fit large as they are meant to hold a mattress and boxsping together or an oversize mattress.

Really is waterproof and not crinkly like a packet! It has a soft fabric feel, but still waterproof. Our friends brought one a while back from a store for many times the price of this and it’s identical. Prevented a cat pee from getting to a new mattress, not a spec, no moisture, nothing got through at all. Very happy with this. Will be buying more of these.

I have been looking for a new mattress protector that actually protects. I have 2 issues
-I have fibromyalgia and one of my symptoms is crazy night sweats
-I have 4 smaller dogs that like to sleep on the bed with me and sometimes they have small accidents.

I much prefer this to the protectors that just go over the corner like a fitted sheet. This protector zips up and covers the whole mattress. I did have a little trouble with air getting stuck in it, but I left the zipper open a few inches and it works great.

It’s very easy to put on, both sides feel like the same material. There is no noise or feel of plastic moving when you move which is super important to me.

I’m really happy with it.

These are amazing. I bought one initially for my daughter's bed and dust mite allergies and then bought 3 more for the rest of the beds in our house. I accidentally put my water bottle on the bed, not realizing the lid wasn't screwed on yet. The entire bottle poured onto the sheet, and once i noticed, i removed the sheet to find a puddle of water just sitting on top of this encasement. I soaked it up with a towel, and then i checked the mattress underneath. 100 percent dry. What a huge difference between that and the 80 dollar mattress protector that was sold with the mattress and would still soak the mattress when she used to pee the bed and didn't even block mites or bugs. It's easy to zip on and doesn't make noise when you're on it either.

Very well made, good zipper and flap protecting it.

It stays in place and it is not noisy at all.

Only issue though is that it's very tall. If your mattress is a standard thickness instead of those super high ones, it will be oversized and you'll have to tuck the wrinkles on the bottom. It doesn't seem to affect the performance though.

Too big, but good for allergies. Suitable only for deep-pocket mattresses, not standard full size. Description states 18 inches deep and STRETCHES to fit deep-pocket mattresses... in fact is already fitted for deep-pocket without stretching.... way too much fabric (extremely loose fitting) for a standard depth full size mattress (9 inches deep). First night I slept on it, my allergies didn't bother me half as much... good for allergy sufferers. Didn't mind the rustling sound... like ocean waves or street traffic... I got used to it very quickly as background noise. Would have preferred the "The Original Sleep Defense System" but for some reason they are only sold in Canada on Amazon for exponentially more money than in the states... not sure why.

I really like this cover. We got the single size one for our toddlers bed. I was able to put it on all on my own. (Id imagine a queen- king would be 2 people) As per the previous reviews it is dramatically over sized I could essentially fit both matress and box spring in it. I ended up pushing out the air and tucking the acess under the matress. It is a nice bright white. I did pour water onto it as a test and none went through. It makes a slight noise when on it but not as bad as some. Paired up well with thwe same brand of sheets and blankets.

i just try and see is it waterproof on my mattress, but it absorb all the water. thats very disappointing. i am not very happy with this since it stated waterproof and also this is the main purpose i brought this cover...but which is not waterproof at all goes all onto my mattress sad

We've had this on my son's bed for 3 weeks. Last night he had an accident and it completely leaked through this cover into his brand new mattress as if the cover wasn't even there. Incredibly disappointed with this.

I can't comment on the water resistant claim because I tried to test it with water and it seems to absorb it a little. Not sure it it's just absorbed by the top layer and it doesn't get to the actual mattress. I guess it must be quite air tight because there's always a pouff of air inside, kind of like an air bubble! I ordered this for our king size bed and it's a pretty thick mattress. This didn't fit snugly. There is a lot of extra room. I wish it was a little less baggy. As for the noise, I would say it "crinkles" but it definitely makes your bed noisier. You can hear it when you slide your feet around etc. Wish it were soundless.

This mattress cover made me so HOT! I was sweating like a pig for the entire week that I used this. I couldn’t stand it. Took it off the mattress and got a different cover from the place we bought our new mattress and all is well again.

This is actually the second zippered mattress cover from Utopia Bedding. We are very happy with the first purchase, and wanted to get another for the new mattress in my son's bedroom. The quality is excellent, the sleep-ability of the cover is excellent~no noise, non-sweaty and super easy to put on. The velcro'd cover that goes over the zipper end is a nice touch, so the zipper end does not catch on anything. Excellent purchase all around!

The product arrived as intended and it was easy to install with help from another person as it indicates is needed. Originally attempted to put it on myself and it’s not possible being a short person. Maybe someone close to or the length of a mattress could do it alone. A couple of these bed covers were bought for all the mattresses in the house and they are all queen size. My mattress appears to be either a small queen or the others are large queens because it fit somewhat baggy on mine and fitted on the others, that’s why I’ve given the product 4 stars. The pillow top versions are all different in the house which could explain my queen Euro fitting the way it did or I was given a king bed cover instead on a product labeled queen. Overall it’s still doing the job and glad I had a gift card to buy the two I purchased.
