This Amazon basics platform is doing it's job well as a foundation but has a big design flaw. The edges of the vertical supporting rods have sharp edges, they should be flattened or covered with some smooth surface. I just placed my brand new mattress on this platform. With just a little movement, it ripped off my new mattress at all the sharp edges making it's warranty void. Please think of this scenario before making any purchase or place smooth cloth cloth over the platform to save your mattress. I have bought a mattress cover too. But i just placed the mattress to check if it is fitting fine on this. But in the first attempt itself, it ripped off my mattress.
This bed frame surprised me, the price being as low as it was, i was expecting something of lesser quality, however i am pleasantly surprised to how well it is holding up so far.
I purchased this to go along with my new King sized Lucid memory foam mattress in January, i am 120lbs and my boyfriend is 170lbs and we sleep with out two pitbulls 50 and 60lbs and we have had no problems whatsoever. I have not experienced any creaking and the bed doesn't slide or sit weird on the frame.
It came in a box,in time (2 day shipping), and although it was a bit heavy i was able to carry it by myself down stairs to the our bedroom in the basement. I set this up with the help of my younger brother but I honestly could have done it myself as all he did was help me pull the thing out of the box and cut some zip ties. It is pretty easy, all you do is pull it out of the box and snaps some corners together and unfold the frame and done!
If this helped you please give it a thumbs up if this review helped you, I am trying to get better at writing reviews.
It's rare that I've ever gotten to say this, but Amazon finally got something right with one of their products. After reading reviews, I was expecting short posts, misaligned holes, broken latches, etc. It literally took more time getting the package in my house and unpacked than it took to assemble the frame and get my bed back on it and made. It was as simple as unfolding four auto-locking legs and then using two bolts and two odd little spacers to secure the frame pieces together. I was even able to toss my box spring.
This is a tall bed. Even without a box spring, the top of my mattress is now above the bottom of the window I sleep next to. I suppose I could get out a measuring tape, but that would take effort. Also, ignore the thing about this only supporting sleepers up to 240 pounds. Pretty sure that should have been 2400 pounds. I am a 360 pound fat boy, and this thing doesn't squeak, move, groan, anything.
This thing started out so quiet, but fast forward 6 months later, it’s squeaking up a storm! Great.
This type of bed frame quickly became a favorite because they offer incredible value, easy movability and STORAGE SPACE!
What I Love:
— Easy to put together. The legs lock open and the two frames attach to each other with a super easy connector. No tools needed.
— Sturdy.
— Easy storage The diagonal struts on the legs angle toward the head and foot ends of the bed allowing for easy slide in/slide out of storage boxes. Standard plastic storage boxes, such as Sterilite's 58 Qt, 12.25" high storage box fits perfectly underneath. Eight of those boxes will easily fit under this frame with slide in - slide out ease.
— Inset legs. The legs are inset a few inches from the edge of the frame, so less chance of stubbing a toe. My last one had legs that were flush to the outside edges of the frame and I was forever smacking into one of them. The inset legs are not visible if using a bedskirt; the flush legs are.
— Disassembles and folds up quickly for moving or clearing a room for painting, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning. This is a great bed frame for apartment dwellers and other renters who move fairly often. Very easy to move. Much easier and more compact than a box spring.
What I Did About the One Thing I Don't Love:
— No wheels or casters come on this frame. I bought a set of those round furniture moving dots and put them under the legs to make it easier to move for cleaning, etc.
I have bought my kids several bed sets all of which they ended up breaking due to cheap materials but I have bought 3 of these so far and they have stood the test of time! I have a older son who literally throws himself on the bed as if it were a wrestling ring and this thing still hasnt broken! I love how easy it is to fold up and move too. No more taking bed frames apart, no more broken box springs or lumpy mattresses due to unbalanced support!
You need to be very careful when unpacking this bed frame, I have a really deep cut in my thumb when I was pulling it out of the box, there is a very sharp metal protruding exactly by the rounded corner where you grab it to pull it out from the box. This product need better quality control or else more people can get serious injuries from this. I was so mad that I wanted to post a picture of my bloody thumb but decided not to because Amazon might not post my review.
This is a game changer for us. Our storage space is limited, but we wanted an upgrade from air mattresses for our guests. This folds up very compact, is easy to fold up, and provides a really great base for guest bedding. We used it with the Best Price Mattress 4" Trifold Memory Foam Mattress, Twin XL, which worked great. Our guests (aged 70 yrs old) both said they slept incredibly well. Would definitely buy again.
The rods in between the frame are not strong enough to hold for long. Mine didn't last even for 2 days being only used by me. I was using a 5 inch thick mattress yet the rods bend and one even came off the welding joints especially at the point where your back (whole body part between neck to waist) rests. Although not sure but maybe a 10 inch mattress won't put the body load on the metal.
The iron rods wielded inside the bed frame are thin and weak. They bend within one week of usage. One of the weldings came off eithin 5 days if usage and the iron rod came out. Its now poking the person using the cot. Hence it has become the costly cloth hanger.
The bed is perfect for a short person like me. It doesn't creak at all which some people have faced. I have put 2 thick mattresses on the top so O haven't faced any difficulties of rods digging into my back. Material seems sturdy, but I don't kniw whether it will rust in the near future or not. The bed is definitely a value for money. I was searching for a foldable bed(unlike the other camp beds where you use ply on top and the material is made up of wrought iron) and I stumbled into this. The product description says that it is made up of durable steel, so hopefully it won't rust too quickly. Overall I am very much satisfied with the bed, as ot solves my purpose.
Works great as a guest bed frame. I can store it in a closet or the tub in the second bathroom since I only need that tub/ shower when I have guests anyway.
I put pool noodles on the ends to kept the frame from damaging the wall or bottom of tub.
My wife and I ordered this frame to serve as our son's first "big boy" bed. The frame has no lip to keep a mattress in place. Consequently, the mattress could easily slide right off the frame, which makes it an unsafe bed for our son. Based on other reviews and ratings, we were under the impression that the frame would support a mattress. Nope.
More upsetting - although this is an "Amazon Basics" frame, sold by Amazon, it is non-returnable! So now we are stuck with a useless $110 bed frame. Oh well, at least we won't have to eat the cost of shipping to send it back, since even Amazon doesn't want it.
The Twin XL was easy to unpack, unfold and setup. No tools needed. It is strong enough for up to 250 lbs. or more. However it is flat. Boards or box springs can slide off. All other bed frames I have had here in Canada, in the US and in South America had angle iron on the sides. This keeps the plywood or boards, or box springs, or the mattress itself in place without sliding. We have all natural, organic, memory-foam latex mattresses which are not that deep and are best with plywood or box springs support. I fastened plywood to the frame with screws and put several pieces of non-slip, rubber mat grips on the plywood to successfully solve the problem. The frame initially was also noisy, but I was able to solve that too. I am now pleased with the frame.
I have bought two of these type frames in the past (diff seller, it was a while ago) and we love them, DURABLE as heck, not terribly noisy (giggity!) and the extra room under the bed fits storage bins SO good.... so when we got low on space I thought i'd create some by replacing the old box spring in the spare room with one of these. First order never came - it shipped purolator and they have NEVER delivered to my house... they always SAY they do, but i've never successfully gotten a package from them. So amazon resent it at no cost to a different address, which was great, but when we drug the heavy thing home and up the stairs, we were missing one of the two bolts needed to hold the frame together. By this point we have the room tore apart, box spring and old frame already taken out, so I'll rig something up, a zip tie or something, but there was no way i was going to try and send it back. So 5 stars for amazon service in replacing the item, 1 star for the suckriffic shipping of purolator and 2 stars for quality - it's literally four pieces, two foldy bits and two bolts. The 3/4ths that i got were fine but missing a bolt is a giant pain.
I ordered this unit for delivery before Canadian Thanksgiving and it arrived in good grace. No one in my family assembled the unit prior to my holiday arrival. First night my second son slept on the mattress on the floor. I made the coffee next morning and had the unit assembled before filling the coffee cups! That simple. The comments from my son two mornings later was ... " like my own bed." No noise, simple to assemble, easy to dissassemble/collapse for moving. Smart and economical product for young and mobile families, such as a family of engineers. I am not an engineer. Only the father and husband to such. God help me.
Works great, no complaints. No assembly at all. Pretty heavy so it was kind of hard to get the box up the stairs to my room but I guess that’s also what makes it sturdy. I see some people complaining that the centre leg doesn’t touch the ground, but this is actually intentional by design. It’s called a “floating” leg and makes it so that there’s just a bit of give in the middle so that you don’t feel any pressure from the centre beam up through the mattress. It’s not enough to make it sag. I don’t experience any issue with the frame not unfolding totally flat, but I am using a fairly thick and heavy mattress (Casper). This is my primary bed, I sleep on it nightly and I’m very happy with it. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn’t care about looks and just needs a functional bed frame, especially for those who move frequently since it folds up totally flat. The storage space underneath is great too for small space living. I’m 5’2” and the twin size is perfect for me and leaves plenty of space in my room for my desk.
Reviewing this product after using for last one month, I must say it's a very good piece of product in midlow range budget for bachelor's or for single users. If Amazon could consider more 700/800 in price range that would be real delite for bachelor's
