Like many, many other reviewers, I received a product with a defective battery. I checked the battery voltage before charging and it showed almost 0 volts and after charging the 12hr period per the instructions, it still showed close to zero volts and did not cause the pump to begin pumping even slowly...nothing happened. The pump only operates off a battery so if it isn't working, you can't plug the pump directly into your car 12V supply. It is really badly designed and poorly thought out. I am going to buy an external pump and pump it up through the nozzle.
I should have known the quality was abysmal when I first saw the battery label and it was written in what appeared to be English at first glance, but "WHEN THE BATTERY RUN PLEASE PROMPTLY CHARGING, WHEN NOT IN USE PLEASE ENSURE THE INSIDE HAVE ENOUGH ELECTRICITY" told me it was probably designed and built is some sweat shop in China with poor quality control.
Note that there is no charge status indicator and the warnings are adamant about not going beyond the specified charge time. The product does not come with the DC charging connector and that must be ordered separately. It only comes with a small AC adapter that puts out a measly 200mA...trickle charge rates. The battery is Nickel Metal Hydride - not lithium ion, but that makes sense because NiMH is better for driving a pump motor in colder temperatures.
We bought this air bed, a little skeptical, but wanting sometime for our truck bed to go with our SUV tent setup. When it arrived, I charged the battery as directed, 12-hours. Then I inflated the air mattress and it held air great for about an hour. Deflated it, and packed it up to move. According to instructions, battery should work for "multiple uses" so I packed it for my trip. On the camping trip, the battery died about 1/3 full and the air mattress had to be deflated and packed away, we could not use it. So very disappointed. I only wish I could get the seller to contact me to replace the battery, I would be willing to give another try. I guess I will keep searching, but if I don't find a way to contact them, I will return the air bed.
I bought this to sleep in while at a music festival. This mattress is amazing! slept great with my girlfriend in the bed of my F-150, stayed aired up for 5 days of drunk fun, and you know what else, placed a sheet over it and my double sleeping bag and it was amazing! Highly recommend product.
Worst thing I ever bought!!! I feel scammed. Can't believe amazon sells this. Bought one right before summer ended to take on our Labor Day camping trip. The value to hold the air in was stuck open. So you can assume, our camping trip was ruined. Called Amazon and returned it for a new one. Didn't use the new one right away because it was winter. Finally got around to using the new air mattress this last weekend. I was happy to see the bed inflated. Until I woke on on the hard surface of my truck bed. The damn thing doesn't air. Also the battery only had enough juice to blow air mattress up twice. Yes I charged it for two days to make sure it would work. Now I can't return this one so I'm screwed. Do not waist your $200 like I did.
I was super excited about this product. It gives you a firm bed, and fit well in my 1st gen tacoma. Unfortunately I have only gotten to use it twice and it failed in new and unexpected ways each time.
The first time I used this I was camping for an extended amount of time. The second night it would not hold air. Somehow it got a small leak underneath the top and over the wheel well in the fold. I don't think it even made contact there, and I had swept out the bed prior to use. No big dieal, I used the included patch kit and fixed it.
The next time I used this was just last week. I went for another extended camping trip. This time the mattress started growing on the same side as the puncture until the wheel well cutout fully inflated and started rising up. (see pics) I have no idea how to fix it now and of course its just out of warranty.
I guess I'll hold onto it for car camping trips and use the big side for the lower part of the ground...
It's too expensive for the durability. I got a big agnes sleeping pad for half the price that fits in my 72" bed. It is almost 30" wide which allows me to keep the rest of my supplies in the bed and sleep below the windows. It also can be left in the truck on hot days which the instructions for the airbedz mattress specifically tell you not to do.
Will definitely tell my friends to not buy airbedz products.
Was very excited and proud of my AirBedz - it's a great idea and the design (pump built in, wheel well cut outs, etc) is fantastic however given the price point and marketing towards adventurous trips, it's incredibly disappointing how often I had to spend hours trying to find the leak, then patch it, only to find a few nights later that I again woke up on the metal of my bed because the Air Bedz had completely deflated overnight. Most recently I grew tired of this cycle and, facing a particularly difficult part to patch (the seams were beginning to come undone), I reached out to Air Bedz in hopes of a repair service or any kind of relief to get back to a functional and durable product and, now three weeks later, I haven't heard back from anyone. At a time where similarly priced outdoor equipment will last decades and be backed by incredible customer service and warranties, stay away from this product. They're clearly out to sell as many units as possible for a big price and then leave you hanging when your two hundred dollar mattress is as airtight as a cotton t-shirt.
Used it on recent camping roadtrip in a truck tent and was pleased. Most time I've spent on air mattress for a while. Did not deflate over night and comfortable and we are a bigger couple. Built in pump with battery worked well. Bag and patch included.
Got full length model to use with my short box truck, note tail gate must be down if you want full with short; worked perfect for truck tent I have with just enough space on tail gate in tent between mattress.
Can deflate if you hit knob crawling in and out, should deflate during day so as not to ruin seam seals, and battery charger seems to lack overcharge protection are only warnings.
Nothing to say but WOW excellent purchase!!! Saw a lot of jealous pick up owner for the last 2 summers ;-). Crossed 2 times Canada
