I purchased this trash can bc of “petguard technology” and nowhere in the description does it say what that means. I should have trusted my instincts because I have learned when things are not described up front, then the company is likely hiding something.
Also, the trashcan requires D batteries and they are not included. Oh yeah, and the electrical cord doesn’t come with it either. So in order to use the touchless feature you have to purchase one of these separately. Who has D batteries sitting around these days?
Feedback for the company: Include what is needed in the box to use your product. Add the batteries and/or adapter and explain what pet lock technology is (including a video or picture). Omitting information makes you look untrustworthy. It’s a huge inconvenience to receive something only to learn you don’t have what you need to use it.
DEFINITELY NOT PET PROOF ! ! ! ! !
The “Pet Proof” claim is frankly, untrue.
There is a little plastic lock on one side of the thin plastic lid. The entire top (which contains the mechanical lid) does not secure to the can, so a large dog only has to push the can over & voila - top is off & trash is everywhere. A determined dog weighing at least 40# will be into this can in under 2 minutes at the most. The dog doesn’t have to knock it over either. The mechanical lid is flimsy & my dog can easily get his nose under it on the side without the lock, and at that point, either the entire top pops off or the lid snaps & breaks. Either way, the dog is welcome to whatever is in the trash at that point.
I feel We’ve been very misled by iTouch’s misinformation in this regard. If you need to keep a medium to large animal out of the trash, do not buy this item. Save yourself the effort & just throw $70 into the trash can that you now have.
This is a good size trash can for a family of 5. I like how its rectangular in shape versus the round ones that I previously had. I never had a trash can like this and although it is a bit pricy, I don’t regret my decision on this purchase. The motion detector is cool but not as fast for me when I am holding something wet and gross in my hands to dispose. There is an option to press the open button lid and it will stay open ( I just learned that ) so no problems anymore about that. Oh yeah, mine didn't come with a cord that you plug into the wall. I knew that already but was a little worried on how it will work...Low and behold! Batteries are also an option..problem solved again. We have been using regular batteries for the trash can and haven't had to change it yet. The quality seems heavy duty. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a motion type of trash can.
