Nice over sink dish rack. could use some minor improvements but overall nice.
Matches the wall mount rack I also have which is nice. the powder coat?? finish is very nice and its all stainless.
height is good easily clears the sink and faucets with plenty of room to spare.
one issue I found. when install the top two bolts. careful tightening you can easily "squish" the square tubing by over tightening. I would suggest the manufacturer put a cylinder inside their to reinforce that section so it does not squish.
a suggestion. I would really like a second "horizontal rail" on the back side. maybe an adjustable one? I want to hang the little rack back their for my spongers but its a little low their. another H Rail on the back would let me mount it up higher. not a flaw just a "would be nice" addition.
This dish rack deserves a good rating because it works as advertised and it was easy to put together and seems to be sturdy. I am sure it would be a very useful thing to have in a small kitchen. I will tell you why I am giving it 4 stars.
The dish with the crab is from Fritz and Floyd. It is available on Amazon at B084RKMBB8. I got it for writing a review, and I love it. It is dirty because I used it to serve some fries I made in the frying pan at B08F6XK5V3. If you want to know how to make fries check out my reviews for those things. The fries came out great and the dirty dish sat on the counter for a couple days because it looked so cute.
So I just got my dish rack set up and now I am cleaning up the kitchen, and don't look too close because it is a work in progress. The rack manages to hold my plates. The hooks for the cups seem a bit precarious. I wasn't sure where to put the knife. I put it in the open basket first and pricked my finger on it a few minutes later and moved it to the closed basket.
Then came the hard part, the Fritz and Floyd plate. I sponged it off carefully on the counter, and then rinsed it very carefully under the faucet. It was nerve-wracking. I had to dodge chunks of metal sticking out at every level. There are faucets and the silverware racks, and the side bars, and the great big bar that projects right at eye level and if I bend over too quickly I might hit my forehead on it.
So I rinsed and dodged with focused concentration, and then I had to lift this heavy, precious platter, that is brand new and so far doesn't have even one chip in it, way up high to put it in the only part of the rack that was available. My heart was pounding. I was sure I was going to screw it up and destroy my brand new Fritz and Floyd plate. But I managed it! I set it down carefully, grabbed the camera and snapped the picture.
Now I just have to take it out and wipe it off and put it away somewhere safe. And perhaps never touch it again because this episode stressed me out so much.
This is one of those items you didn't realize you needed until you get it. Amazing! So easy to set up with the accompanied hardware, and in minutes you have a space saving setup for washing and racking dishes right by your sink. It opened up an entire area for more cooking fun! Now I can actually have another person in the kitchen with me doing cooking and prep without getting in each other's way. The baskets have a variety of wiring designs, so one is perfect for plates, one for cups and one for bowls. The bowl basket is very versatile, because the grooves for the bowls are not raised so you can put cups flat on it. The cutting board rack is also a great idea and helps keep the big stuff tidy. It is quite sturdy and spacious, I managed to fit most of my dishes on it once when I had procrastinated cleaning a little too long. It does not fit any pans, and I would not put that much weight on it, but it is good for the tabletop basics. The suction cups at the bottom are very helpful and keep it in place on a slippery counter. It is very stable, it does not tilt even when one side is propped up on an uneven surface. They are even rather heat resistant for plastic (as I found out when I absentmindedly turned my oven on without moving it and the suction cups did not melt or warp at all). My one issue with it is that the silverware section is too small, it only fits silverware but no cooking utensils (like spatulas and tongs). Overall, I would recommend this dish rack for anyone trying to save some space and make their kitchen more efficient. It is sturdy, well designed, and easy to put together to boot!
