The storage container itself is fine, but no better than other brands. However, there is only ONE small mention on this listing (and buried amidst a lot of other text) that “Lids are available” for the product, and it was not clear enough that the lids were not included. I could have bought this cheaper elsewhere with a lid, had I known that they were not included. There needs to be more obvious notification that the lid is not included with purchase.
I love these. I have some that are 17 years old and still look as good as the brand new ones. They're perfect storage for everything from flours to sugars to oatmeal to rice to dry beans to muesli to barley and other grains... Anything I like to buy in bulk goes in these. I've moved several times since starting to use them so have had them on individual shelves in a large pantry of a big house and stacked tall on top of the frig in a small apartment. Either way they're convenient and keep things fresh. I've stacked them as high as 5 or 6 and they nest in the lid of the one beneath perfectly and remain stable not tippy and the weight does not misshape the lids. When baking, there is no substitute for how much easier it is to scoop out the right amount of an ingredient than from bags. I like to buy Bob's Red Mill products in bulk from Subscribe and Save on Amazon and these containers are perfect for storing them or anything from the bulk aisle at the grocery store. Most recently I've bought some of the smaller ones for things like loose leaf tea. I like that they're square and all the same footprint size which makes them so easy to stack. My latest configuration is in a small apartment kitchen where the only space is above the cabinets. Visitors always comment on how cheerful, colorful, and homey they look - almost a decorative feature [see pictures]. Since they're clear you can see exactly what you have both in terms of ingredient and amount remaining. Since I've started using lots of different flours and grains that are similar in appearance, I printed out clear labels with names. At first they seem a bit expensive, but I've built my collection slowly over the years and they last forever and perform so well that I think they're worth every penny. When my daughter got her first apartment, she asked for some of these the first Christmas because it was so inconvenient to bake out of bags of flour and sugar compared to these that she was used to at home. I've been using these for nearly 20 years now and every one I ever bought is still in excellent condition, nearly indistinguishable from brand new ones - you just can't beat that. I'm obviously a big fan and continue adding to my collection. I can't recommend them highly enough!
Container labeled as containing a chemical that causes birth defects. How on eart is this a food storage container??????
Works well with my Anova Sous Vide controller. A great size for three or four steaks. This container goes with lid number FG652300WHT. You can see that I use it with the lid's corner cut out in the photo.
This was not advertised properly. Why in the world would you sell it without a top. Add the top and save the packaging. Why would someone by this for just the bottom for suos vide? No I would not order this again. I would have sent it back but I was traveling around Christmas time when it arrived. By the time I opened the box and discovered the missing top, 30 days had run. So I had to order the stupid top. Save your money and clip your suos vide to the side of your pot.
This is the perfect size (8 Quart) for use with the Anova Immersion Cooker. I also purchased the matching Rubbermaid lid: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R8E164
The counter space required is about 10" x 10" and you will need about 17" height from counter when you attach the Anova (just in case you want to use it under your cabinets.)
From the pictures I did not think this was going to be as big as I wanted for sous vide but I was pleasantly surprised. So far I have cooked 8 large rib eye steaks at once and 3 racks of spare ribs with no problems. So basically most of your sous vide needs will be handled with this size ( both of those meals were for more than 10 people. This setup works SO much better than the large stock pot I was using. The square shape is much better suited for lining up meat pouches than a round pot.
Perfect for the new Bluetooth/Wifi Anova Precision Cooker. At lowest seating position, the Anova has around 1/2" below it to the bottom of this container which is perfect. I bought the lid with it, Rubbermaid Commercial FG652300WHT right here on Amazon. I used a set of Sharpie along with the Anova clip to draw out a cutting template on the lid edge. THen, I used a set of really sharp scissors to cut right through the plastic lid which created an exact template of the Anova Precision Cooker. The end results look like this container was designed specifically for the Anova. Couldn't be happier.
I tried very hard to find this in my town but nobody stocks it. It seems pretty basic but I eventually gave up and ordered it here and I am very happy with it. It’s a nice shape and can fit a medium-sized roast easily. The edges are only slightly curved and I had no trouble attaching my sous-vide device onto it. To make a “cover” I cut some pieces of packing foam into the shape of the bin and cut a hole out for the sous-vide machine. Works perfectly as the foam floats and keeps evaporation to a minimum. Photo is for scale.
I purchased this to use with the Anova Precision Cooker and have found it to work brilliantly. The square shape ensures that i can fit a decent number of bags into it efficiently which is much better than the round pan I was using previously. The Anova fits firmly and easily onto the container and the slight lip causes no issues with fit. I either just put cling film over the top to reduce evaporation or use the separate lid for this model (lid model no. FG652300WHT)
Like many other people, I bought this container for my Anova sous vide. It fits perfectly and I'm able to cook multiple things in it without hassle. I bought the lid and cut the slot to fit the sous vide. This works great because the lid can hold the bags in place and still maintain a tight fit so you get less water and temperature loss. Be warned that Amazon recomnmended the wrong lid for my container (the 6509). I had to refund and purchase the proper lid afterwards. The appropriate lid is FG652300WHT
I use this in conjunction with my Anova Sous Vide machine as I didn't have a pot big enough for large pieces of meat or multiple guests. For long cooks a seperate lid can be bought and cut out to prevent the water evaporating
If, like me, you make a lot of sourdough bread and use the 'turns' method rather than kneading, then having a polycarbonate tub is very useful. Some books would have you believe you need a massive tub. This is more than big enough for doughs using upwards of kilogram of flour. I could almost certainly get away with something a bit smaller. There is also a lid available for this tub, however it's advertised as for the 7.5L Rubbermaid container, whereas this is advertised as 7.6L. Anyway, it fits.
