Made in Vietnam. We got the Merlot twin over twin with twin trundle. The stain is nice. The construction quality seems durable. It's got a small footprint and includes very nice storage options. The assembly directions could be clearer. If you switch the stair assembly to the right side then you will run out of hardware if you also want to install upper side rails on both sides. Luckily for us, our unit is up against the wall, and doesn't need both sides protected. I didn't realize there would be a book storage nook at the foot of the bottom bunk. This is very nice and the kid who sleeps above was a little jealous of the book nook. Ideally the hardware kit would include little merlot-stained wooden plugs to cover the visible screws but I guess you can't have everything. We're using the trundle assembly for clothing storage but I can see how great it would be for a future sleepover if there was a little futon mattress there instead. Shipping to Brooklyn went smoothly. There was no damage to the box. I would definitely recommend this item at the price I paid (~780$ i think). I would buy it again.
This bunk bed is super high quality -- far exceeding our expectations. My kids (2 years and 5 years) love it and we love how sturdy it is. We hired a handyman in our building to put it together and it took him about 4 hours.
The delivery company was HORRIBLE. They kept on missing the delivery date and not telling us -- I had to call daily to find out what was happening and reschedule plans to be home on constantly changing dates. I won't mark down the bunk bed for this but I do issue a strong warning for those purchasing this that you have to deal with a challenging delivery.
This may be the best piece of flatpack furniture I've ever purchased. The wood is solid and the finish is beautiful. The hardware is organized in shrinkwrapped, separately labeled bubbles on a large piece of cardboard so you can see everything you need. Most importantly, every hole is drilled exactly where it should be, and the pieces glide together quickly and easily. In the six months we've owned it we've already had to disassemble and reassemble it once (to move bedrooms) and it came together the second time just as magically as it did the first time.
The bed is AWESOME! The company was terrific as well. I had a significant problem with their shipping company Gold Coast Freight (they are worse than HORRIBLE!!) - shipping took almost a month! And the bed was only an hour and a half from my house. The shipping company NEVER returned my calls as promised. Each time I called Gold Coast - they never knew what was going on! So disappointing! I will NEVER do business with that shipping company ever again. I advise anyone and everyone to use alternative shipping companies.
BUT Discovery World Furniture ALWAYS returned my calls and emails and they were FANTASTIC! They truly worked to help rectify the shipping issues.
The bed itself is great and sturdy! My kids (4 & 7) love it.
Take your time and read the instructions - I switched the staircase to the shipping to the other side. It wasn't difficult - just follow the directions at the end of the instruction booklet.
Beautiful solid construction. This bed is definitely a cut above and well worth the price. Assembly took about three hours with the help of its intended occupants, but could probably be built faster without help :). I commend the manufacturer on laying out all of the hardware neatly in bubble packs with labels, which is makes it much easier to see what you have and what you need than throwing a bunch of parts in together in a bag like certain other furniture companies that require DIY assembly. I did not notice when I ordered the bed that there is a magazine rack on the lower level next to the stairs. This is a nice touch.
Staircase bunks are definitely far less common than ladders, but I really like this design as there is no chance of a sleepy kid rolling off the top of stumbling on a ladder.
Note that there is a stage in construction where you will need to place the assembled top onto the the bottom, so two adults might be useful for that step.
It's beautiful! No one has slept in the beds yet, but it should work great! The room is almost too nice for kids! It will be a guest room for grands and even adults if ;more than one couple show up!
This is a great bed. Bought it for my 7 and 4 year old. My husband had no problem putting it together probably took him 2-3 hours he only needed help when it came time to lift the top bed on. Seems extremely sturdy and looks great!
Bought this for my boys. This product is amazing, my sons love it. Easy to assemble, finished putting it together in 2 hrs.
