This a great solution for us. Here is the recipe we use for our nine year old Boxer.
3.5lbs HK veggie and nut base
10lbs 73% lean ground beef
7 scoops of NuPro suppliment ( For glocosumine joint support and other vitamins)
7 quarts water

Crumble ground beef into a large pot (we use our canning kettle)
Add water and heat on high on your stove. Continue heating and stirring until water and beef is no longer pink. You do not need to boil, just heat until meat is cooked.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes
While water is still warm, Mix in the HK. 3.5lbs is half of the large box.
Mix thoroughly and let cool for about 30 minutes. You want it at 160 F or cooler when you add your suppliment.
Add the NuPro (or whatever suppliment, if any)
Stir again and cool until the mixture thickens.
Using an ice cream scoop and small kitchen scale, portion out into 8-9 oz portions, into freezer safe containers. (We use cheap Rubbermaid 1.2 cup containers with the screw on lids, but you can use baggies or even Saran wrap). Yield should be about 48-50 cups.
Place in freezer.
We feed 1 cup (8-9 Oz serving) per 20lbs of the dogs weight, per day, Our female boxer is about 53lbs, so she gets three servings per day, morning, late afternoon and early evening.

 My boy chihuahua has a sensitive digestive system. I have tried pumpkin or chicken and rice, and within two days he reverts to loose stool. This dog food hydrated from the water used to boil the chicken not only inspires him to dance for his dinner, but keeps his digestive system in good condition. Since I have acquired a second chihuahua, who often speaks through a growl, she enjoys it so much this is the only food that makes her growl through the whole meal. She says, "It's goooooddddd!" It's hilarious!!! Sometimes she even lets out a bark between bites, and she spins around in circles when she smells me carrying the bowl to her dining mat. No other food makes her as wild about dinner as this one. — I find it challenging to prepare per meal, so I make a large batch that will last for most of the week and keep it refrigerated then hit it with a bit of hot water to warm the temperature overall. If I were to become a sales representative for a dog food, this would be my choice. We love it!

Love this concept! Took my dogs a bit to eat it, but now they practically climb the counters when they hear me mixing. A much more convenient way to feed raw (I add raw protein). I fed raw years ago but stopped because of the time consuming chore of it, along with the not knowing if I was balancing their diet properly. This takes most of the guess work out. I have 3 very large German Shepherds and I had to adjust the diet as needed to meet their needs. The poop is a little weird on this though. Yes you can see bits of hydrated pieces like carrots and broccoli pieces. The poop is softer than I would like but ehh. One main reason I wanted to try this and stop kibble was the horrible amount of gas! Imagine coming home to 3 GSD who have farted all day....disgusting!! This issue has been eliminated. The food itself smells great, reminds me of a soup or vegetable dip mix and it looks awesome displayed on my counter.
