Had I written this review 6 months ago it would have gone something like this...
I have used Glad ForceFlex trash bags for years and never buy anything else! They are super stretchy so you can fit a little more in than your average garbage bag. The Febreze scent is great and keeps stinky smells at bay! These have always been my go to choice for my kitchen trash bags!
But now..
I would only recommend these if you like dropping trash all over the floor when you go to empty your garbage can! I have had a subscribe and save subscription for these bags for as long as I can remember. However, when I got my last shipment, I noticed that the design has changed. The strings are no longer red, but black. Apparently they are also using less plastic, which is great. More eco friendly right? Well that would be great... If they still worked like they're supposed to! Every single time I pull the bag out of the trash can now, the string breaks, the bag falls to the floor and I am left cleaning up trash. I even filled a bag halfway with light toys such as stuffed animals that I was donating, and the strings ripped right off of it when I lifted it as well.
Read the recent reviews that mention the design change. They aren't wrong! I would gladly keep buying them if they went back to the old bags, but until then I am cancelling my subscription. Time to find a new go-to trash bag!
I have bought these bags from the store for years without a single problem. This product from Amazon seemed like a knock off or fake. They were the thinnest and most flimsy bags that I have ever used. I had to throw the entire box away. I will only be buying these from the store from now on.
Horrible. If I could give a negative review I would in a heartbeat. We have had three blowouts with these bags half full. A family of two, we rarely have full bags and take the trash out regularly. After two stupid messy blowouts, we started double-bagging (horrible price per bag!) but had to try to prevent spills. I just took half full bag out and it busted out at the seams in ten feet! I got two bags to clean up-half in each ... my husband took those another three feet to garage to take to garage and one of THOSE ripped out at the seams!!! It was at MOST 25% full. Incredibly horrible quality. I've never considered the quality of a trash bag, but never buy provide label. NOW--I will purchase anything BUT Glad!!! What an incredible disappointment.
Quality issues in the last year (2018). I've used these bags for 5 years ever since I had children because the febreeze feature for diapers was awesome until this year when the bag would fall apart when removing to take out to the trashcan. Every single bag has ripped and we've received multiple shipments because I've forgotten to take this bag off of the subscribe and save so it's not just a bad batch.
Target sells a similar bag that smells nice and ties that works really well if you need a good substitute. Don't buy the Glad bags.
Literal garbage bags. The string is the worst design I have ever experienced--it's rigid and sticky, and doesn't work as a drawstring, so you end up having to tie the entire top of the bag shut. I was motivated to write this review after trying to tie up a bag of paper towels that I had just used to clean up some lovely vomit and diarrhea my dog made for me this morning. Couldn't think of a better time for a bag to tie shut properly. Worst design ever.
• The top 2” of bags rips open 25% of the time, even when the bag’s only 75% full; very weak area.
• The black plastic drawstring, which you have to use to secure the bag, is often glued to the plastic that’s supposed to be folded over it, making it impossible to secure the bags.
• The actual opening is too small for most trash cans, based on three different 14 gallon cans that I tested. Needs to be at least an inch larger, maybe 1.5”
Overall, these can’t hold a candle to Hefty bags. Problem is, I bought one order of 280 of these Glad bags, so I get to deal with their awfulness for another year. Ugh.
The quality of these bags has gone down. They have a weakness at the top and they’re ripping apart as i take them out of the box. The ones that aren’t ripping you can still see the weakness and they will definitely rip. I will be switching to another brand.
I've been getting those on auto-delivery for a couple of years now, used to be happy with spending a bit more for a stronger bag (I use them for diapers of special needs adolescents, that gets very heavy). The last time I got them though I noticed they changed. Now they keep breaking - it is very unpleasant to say the least to pick up dirty diapers from the alley way. Whatever they changed, they shouldn't have. I'll cancel my subscription and buy cheaper bags instead.
