Easy to assemble and reasonably well made. As a woodworker I am somewhat surprised at what is sold as a near $100 piece of furniture. Initial impression is that it seems to be sturdy and comfortable. The finish is applied to the surface and not a stain. A dropped screwdriver put a small scratch on one of the legs and when I rubbed it with my finger more of the applied coating flaked off. I was able to cover it up with a stain marker but it doesn't bode well for the future appearance of the wooden parts.
These chairs are really pieces of s---. But, you get what you pay for. So, for that price, I guess they will do. I was really surprised at how poorly they installed the black fabric that covers the undersides. Yeah, it's the undersides, but still...
The instructions could be improved, especially when they tighten down the mounting brackets at about 90 degrees to what they need to be for assembly. I get it - it ships better that way. So, just let us know to loosen the back brackets so they can line up with the holes in the seat backs.
The chair looks great. Very firm padded seat and back. My only issue is that the casters are not wood floor friendly and I could not find casters that would replace these. We spend a lot of money putting wood floors in the whole house 12 years ago and recently had them refinished. I do not want to ruin the floors with these plastic (not rubber) casters. Returned the 4 I purchased.
This chair looks amazing and gives a very royal feel to the room. Not just the looks it is also very comfortable to sit on. Its been about a month and I use this chair daily for approx 5-6 hrs daily and have had no issues. The assembly was easy and i was able to set it up in about 30 min. Directions are just pictures but if you have assembled IKEA furniture before you are good to go. i used it for my daughter's bithday shoot and was very pleased by how it looked. Only reason for 4 stars is that my chair came with a little scratch and i noticed it only after fully assembling it and throwing out the box. but as a product i will say it definitely is 5 star
Good looking and comfortable. Is chair constructed of actual mahogany or would it be more accurate to say "blown on red mahogany finish" ? Concerned about the long-term stability of the caster attachments: They appear vulnerable.
I have read many of the reviews for this item and ones which were similar, and I agree with those who gave it a 5 star. I'm not sure about those who said it was very difficult to put together as I'm a 69 year old lady and I put 2 chairs together in 1 1/2 hours. All you need is a Phillips screw driver.
I bought 2 chairs to fit a kitchen table-height bar, and they not only fit well (arms under the counter) but look great and can be used for additional seating at the dining table as well as in the family room. I bought the bomber-jacket finish so wear and spots should never be a problem.
We moved the folks to assisted living and they got a new dining set for the apartment. He missed his rolling chairs from the house so we got him this chair. He loves it. I followed other recommendations and did not tighten any of the screws until I had it all assembled and then went back and tightened everything. Glad I followed those directions. Had very little trouble putting it together (with my sis-in-laws help holding things with me. Not too bad for a couple of 65 year old women... =)
This is an okay chair for the money, but difficult to assemble unless you have the sense not too tighten the bolts all the way until you've fit them them into their holes. Tight partially and then fully after all screws and bolts are in. Also, the Burgundy I order looks more like a purplish dark brown and I wanted a REDDISH brown Burgundy. Didn't want to go through the trouble of exchanging it, so I'm kind of satisfied with it. I use it as a living room desk chair, nicer than an office looking chair.
