Pros
Plastic Cups seem thicker and more durable compared to my last ones
Blends Very Well: I questioned the strange shape of the cups until I started blending. It has bladed shaping on the bottom and sides to create a vortex that swallows everything you put in it. The blades look scarier than my last blender.
Cups/Lids/Blades are dishwasher safe
Cons
Only 2 Cups: Not much of a problem as long as they last. I had 4 cups with the last blender, and after 4 years I was down to 1.
Cups are Tall: Not horribly tall, but enough that I have to use a different shelf in the fridge at work.
Drinkability of Lids is limited: I drink fruit smoothies, and while the lid opening seems big enough, the air hole is too small to allow the smoothie to pour out fast enough and the air hole can easily get clogged by a tiny drop of smoothie. This wouldn't be much of a problem if all you had to do was drink a little slower, but the smoothie can't get back into the cup because of the bad airflow, which causes it to spill around the mouthpiece of the lid. Maybe it's not a big deal, but I don't like it.
UPDATE: If you don't cover the whole mouthpiece with your mouth so that there's room for air, the flow seems to be a lot better. Maybe my smoothie was just a bit less thick today too, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as before, so I guess I just figured out how to drink out of it.
2ND UPDATE: Yeah, thickness matters. A smoothie that’s really thick just requires you to take off the lid to drink it.
CAUTION - this item (per Shark) is NOT able to blend HOT or FROZEN ingredients. When making coffee - the top would explode right off the base. I purchased it 2/3 and decided to call the manufacturer. He told me they can't help to go thru Amazon and wouldn't you know... time to return is OVER! Boo.... be careful. Don't buy if you are planning to use for frozen or hot liquids!
I just received this today and was really excited to try it out. I did a trip to the grocery and stocked up on smoothie supplies and gave this baby a test run. I have to say, it did not disappoint and I can already tell this is going to be one of my top ten purchases (but behind my nespeesso, obviously).
First of all, it’s dummy proof. Seriously. In case your suspicious, there’s even easy 1-5 pictures on the inside of the box. second, this is not obnoxiously large that your scratching your head where to store it. I have it next to my nespeesso on a narrow cart. Third, it’s reasonable! Im not a big breakfast person so I’m really looking forward to using this bad boy for my morning smoothies.
The Good: It’s small and powerful. It can grind up frozen avocados to liquid. It’s less cleanup than breaking out the bigger blenders for making single smoothies.
The Bad: The cups included are hard to clean. There noocks and crannies that are hard to get to, especially that the cups are small in circumference. You have to have small hands or use a large bottle brush to clean it out well. Sometimes it also takes a lot to get the top ingredients mixed in. You may have to stop it, take it apart and stir to make sure everything will mix.
I’ll just deal with the drawbacks rather than return it because eventually it does the job I need it to do. Just not with the ease that I expected.
Very disappointed and wary about this product. Each time I blend w smoothie or juice always this funny smell and black dust comes out of the machine...
I'm still getting to know this little blender but so far it's proved it was worth every penny!
Blends up frozen fruit into a silky consistency like a champ, and at a work event blended up well over 29 milkshakes in under an hour!
I'm a fan and will continue to use this little blender.
Just so it's out there, I've been using it mainly to blend frozen fruit for breakfast smoothies.
I had a vitamix that I used primarily for smoothies and we lost it. I was dying for smoothies but didn’t want to spend another $500! For 1/10 the price I decided to try this and was really impressed! I love this thing!
If you’re just making smoothies or a milk shake it’s wonderful. I never really used my vitamix for anything else.
The only disadvantage is that you can only make 16 oz at a time so we have to run it a few times for our family. Which works out well for us because some of us like different things in our smoothies so I would have to make several anyway. It’s so fast and efficient, and easy to clean too, so it’s not a hassle at all.
I just fill the cup with hot soapy water and a little dish soap - screw the blade on, turn it upside and shake, and soak for 10 min. Then rinse with hot water. Super easy. Easier to clean than the vitamix.
Purchased for my daughter for Christmas to make her own iced chai in the morning. I have my own I bought last year and love it, I throw in 1/2 box vanilla premier protein drink, some ice cubes and 1/2 cup frozen berries and 1/2 banana- makes a great smoothy to drink during my commute to work and filling. The blender makes quick work of grinding the ice to very fine Margarita type consistency - going to try adding matcha powder.
This little guy shouldn't be underestimated. It blends my dates. Even my big Black and Decker can't blend it. Some reviewers complain it's too noisy. You're paying how much? It's not the price of a vitamix. So don't expect every bell and whistle for the price you are paying for. It does its blend well... It's a convenient one serving size ready to go and space saving. That's it. Appreciate it for what it is.
Literally blends ice to snow with no liquid lmao
I bought this product solely for protein shakes and smoothies. It is by far the best item I have purchased. I like to have ice in my smoothies and the ninja crushes it to perfection. Very happy with my ninja!
