seriously one of the easiest directions to follow - took us 4 hours to complete but just because there are a lot of steps (and we are so not handy!). Love the bed and we have gotten so many compliments. Seems quite sturdy and perfect for my kids!
If I could give this a zero star I would. When setting it up one of the bolts didn’t fit well into its space and splintered the entire board (of course it was the one for the top bunk). Now we are scrambling because it was our boys Christmas present. They have been avoiding that room because there’s ‘magic happening.’ Now this mommy needs a miracle to pull of a bunk bed reveal by Christmas.
I put this bed up a week ago. So far, the best part by far has been my kids' absolutely ecstatic response to it. It doubles as two play forts, sometimes they (3 and 6) play together in one bunk, sometimes they separate, but they still spend a ton of time it it. They absolutely love this bed.
I'm happy with it, too. Not pictured are the huge, 6-inch bolts that hold it very securely together. I've climbed up into the top bunk with both my kids, for a total load of about 250 pounds, and the bed didn't wobble a bit. The guard rails go all the way around the top bunk, and, with the five-inch mattresses I put on, there's plenty of space between the top of the mattress and the top of the rails to keep kids from falling off.
I put the bed together myself in a little over three hours. The parts are all individually labeled and the directions are clear and mostly easy to follow. I confused myself for a few minutes by holding the window assembly sideways, and I would have appreciated if the holes for the screws for the roof and window were either pre-drilled or even just marked with ink, but I was able to eyeball those bits, and they came together sturdy and straight.
It takes a lot of torque to tighten down the Allen bolts. If you have a really top-end drill, that might work, but I don't and wouldn't recommend trying it. I also don't recommend using the throwaway Allen wrenches in the box. Use a good Allen wrench with a comfortable handle, and you'll move faster and save yourself all sorts of pain.
There was one bolt where the hole for the Allen wrench wasn't cut all the way, so my Allen wrench wouldn't turn it. Since there's no extra bolts or screws included, I put the one bolt on a guardrail against the wall where it's unlikely to face much abuse, and tightened it down with pliers. This was the only obvious miss on quality of the product.
One other possible con is, the bunks use screwed-down slats, and the bottom mattress is about two inches off the ground, so I foresee having issues cleaning up dust under the bottom bunk.
Those are the only negatives at this point, and I think they're very minor. I fully expect my kids will outgrow sleeping in bunk beds at all, long before the bed itself develops any issues that require it to be taken down. This is a solid product that I feel safe letting my kids sleep on.
You will need two people to put this together. It’s great for my twins. They love it. I just wish they would actually sleep in it. The little blue fabric windows do not stuck well and rio easy.
Just assembled it last night with my wife and took us roughly around 4 hours to complete. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. Product material looks and feels sturdy but time will tell how good it is with handling two very active boys (2 & 4 yrs old). I'm expecting this to last us 2-3 years but in a few months I will be able to tell if it gets us that far.
Packaging: they use this really thin plywood type of material to protect all around between the box and the styrofoam that protects the parts but the front and back is only styrofoam so this can easily be damaged by courier. I think it would be worth paying a little extra for that same plywood material to be used to protect front and back which could potentially save them from a lot of claims and/or returns.
We're not too crazy about some of the damaged parts because they are either not visible once assembled, some are not that big, and others just kinda go with the rustic look of the bed. Additionally, we expected some damages to happen due to poor packaging considering all couriers are very careless (UPS, FEDEX, USPS, DHL., ect) and the amount of damages are minor all things considered including the cost of the bed.
Great product. Great customer service
This comes in three boxes and it is packed well. I had no damages and it arrived via UPS. This item came a lot faster than anticipated by all the shippimg warnings saying ships in one to two weeks and then 3-5 day ground shipping. I have put together a bunk bed before and this was surprisingly easy. While two people would make the job easy, I did assemble this on my own in just 3 hours, taking my time. The instructions are very easy to follow and there are pre-drilled holes that make assembly a snap. t's a real sturdy design that looks exactly as pictured. Awesome bunk bed!
This was a surprise for my son's fifth birthday and it couldn't have been a bigger hit. Took me a solid 4 hours to assemble but I was able to do it solo. I gave it a four out of five for sturdiness because it's not super heavy, never going to shake like the one I had as a kid but it's definitely very solid. The cloth pieces that cover the openings are attached with sticker backed Velcro that didn't stay on very long, probaby should have hooks or something instead. Other than that no complaints, very satisfied with it.
