Pretty sure this is a fake set.... I bought the same set a few years ago from kohl’s. And compared to those, these are a lot smaller, feel much lighter, and are just a bit off. See pictures. My old set are the knives on top. The end of the new knives have a thinner black piece, which looks like it would be more steel, but they are actually a lot lighter and add to the thought that they may be fake. And the block, my old set is on the right which is much larger and more sturdy than the set on the left (new). I knew I should have been looking in stores for a new set, but seeing as though I thought it was the exact same set I bought a few years ago, I thought it would be fine. Guess not!
The knives were of poor quality steel. The knives rusted soon after I began using them. I learned that they did not hold up when sitting in water for any period of time. One of the sissor handles came off yesterday, I just threw them away. I have had the knives for about 6 or 8 weeks. The knives were sharp when I first began to use them but, got dull very quickly. They looked nice but, quality was bad. I will not buy an inexpensive set of knives again.
First thing I must say to never buy these Farberware 15-Piece Stamped Stainless Steel Knife Block Set. They rust very quick. It has taken me this long to write this review because I am an ill person and when the person I finally gave it too they showed and told me how they rusted. I was so embarrassed. Please do not buy these as you will be highly disappointed.
Bought this set three years ago with no issues. Just rebrought this set again, the knives are so much lighter and weaker. The steak knives aren't even serrated anymore. They even have a disclaimer that their not machine washable.
Well, it is true, you cannot place these in your sink of water to soak with the dishes. The handles are, in fact, full of water. I've never experienced anything like this and I hope never to again. I will heed the reviews in the future. This makes me more disappointed in the Farberware brand altogether! The knife holder has some sort of coating that does not go into the space where the knives are kept. I can see that part getting very grody very quickly. I avoid grodyness when I can. I'm going to give this to my neighbor, I don't want it.
My 1st knife set ever.. is this really a display only??!?!! The knifes are locked in the block... help please!
Not professional quality of course but very sharp. Comes with sharpener. Would buy again.
I love these knives! The only thing I'd get out to everyone looking to buy these. It says hand wash and DRY. Don't let it air dry. Dry them immediately after and then put them away. I know it sounds silly, but if you don't, they will rust. If you take good care of them, they'll last! My last set was almost 7 years old, and I just now replaced them with these.
This product is not what you might expect. The overall product is of very poor construction. Specifically the handles are hollow making the knives forward heavy. Some of the handles are not correctly sealed and as such stored water. This then leaked out at next use along with whatever is inside the handle onto whatever I was cutting.
One of the paring knives developed rust marks despite being hand washed only. I attempted to remove these marks by using a plastic scrub. This completely removed the finish on he blade.
In addition the knives arrived dull and They do not hold an edge well at all.
Overall a very disappointing product.
This set is stainless steel thinner than my old one but will perfectly do the job. I only want to say, because of some complaints, all blades have to be sharpening because in fact they are not really! If you do that correctly with the tool provided in that set, you will be happy an will not regret your buying. So to do this, each time you use a new one, take a few minutes to sharpening it and clean it before using for taking away all the residues of steel. For the cleaning, I have never put any knives in the water but only cleaning it immediately after use with a clothe and dry them, and it is recommend from all companies around the world. And at last, we are in 2020, this is the price we have to pay for a basic complete set. But because it is a basic one, you have to take care of it and do a bit more work... That way, you will enjoy this set if you cannot afford by now a more expensive one with a marble block...
