This bed is beautiful! Nice clean look and solid design. I was really afraid to buy something like this online, but I am very happy that I did. I had two concerns that made me leery, 1) the color and look of the wood. I ordered the pine. And when it arrived I was super happy with it. Beautiful color and looks to be of real wood and has nice "wood grain". See attached pics. 2) I was concerned it wouldn't be sturdy enough. One reviewer said the slats were very thin and weak. I found that not to be true. I have a VERY heavy king mattress. My husband, myself, and our two kids sleep on the bed. The foundation is solid and can hold this weight! I also love how the slats hold on with the Velcro. They stay in place and give a good support for the mattress. I'm very happy with my purchase!
I have been using this queen sized frame for 3 weeks now and must say that I am pleasantly surprised by it and would have no reservations recommending it to others. I was looking for a solid wooden slat frame for my soon to arrive bed in a box. I confess that some of the previous reviews for this product made me think twice before ordering, but I certainly am glad I did.
The box arrived quickly through prime. Although there was a fair amount of damage to the one corner of the box which revealed the packing under it, the frame itself remained unscathed. Several other reviewers had similar experiences so I can only conclude that packing is sufficient enough to prevent anything serious from happening. The box is extremely heavy so I can understand why the damage occurs. (I felt rather bad for the delivery man). The box is roughly 90 pounds so make sure you either have help moving it or are willing to move it piece by piece to prevent injury.
The product is well wrapped and everything you need to assemble it is included. All of the pieces were the correct length. (That was something I was concerned about after reading reviews. Some people had issues with the legs being different lengths so I checked them all before constructing the frame). Several reviews also stated that the instructions were rather vague. As long as you can read illustrations and know how the pieces are labeled, you should be fine. The only thing that seemed vague to me was the bar which goes from head to foot in the middle of the bed. One side of it had a black velvet strip running the length of it. That side faces up so when the slats are laid upon it, it prevents noise and movement. I put the frame together by myself and it took around ten minutes. The trick is not to tighten any screws until the entire frame is constructed. All the pre-drilled holes matched up well except the ones on the crossbar (which is the last piece installed). The holes for the crossbar were slightly off, not enough to make it an issue, but enough that I had to "pull" the bar a bit to line it up for the screws. Even before I had all the screws tightened, the frame was solid.
The slats were the biggest concern for me as everyone had a different opinion on them. No one seemed to agree on the thickness, distance between, durability, etc. Here's my take on them (pic included). The slats were uniform. Slats are just under 3 inches in width with 2.5 inch spacing between each. They came in two bundles. One end slat from each bundle had holes drilled into it which lined up with pegs on the frame so there was no mistaking how to place the slats on the frame and the ends are secure. Velcro strips adhered on both ends of the slats hold the slats together and sync up with Velcro on the frame. This made it easy to lay them down as it kept them uniform in distance, flush to the frame, and prevented slippage/movement. There are two slats which have white stickers on them. Removing the stickers is supposed to make the two slats adhere to the bottom of the mattress. I decided not to remove the stickers as I rotate my mattress. My mattress is 89 pounds and I have not had it move on the slats unless I purposely move it.
The frame is very sturdy. The queen size has 9 evenly spaced legs to support the weight of a mattress. I like the 2.5 inch spacing between the slats. I know many bed companies state up to 4 inches is acceptable, but I feel better with the 2.5 for warranty purposes and hope that it will make the frame more durable through the years. I know that the space beneath the bed is about 8 inches for me. I have no issues sliding my storage bins under which is a plus! (Just have to be aware that 3 support legs break up the space underneath). An added bonus is having my feet flat on the floor when I sit on the edge of the mattress. Great height for getting in and out of bed without struggling! For the price, you can't go wrong.
We were super pleased with the style and affordability of the bed frame initially. After 6 months of ownership we are now having to replace the frame entirely or hack some kind of fix. The center beam support is cheap metal like other reviews mention and has bent so we are unable to remove it the leg or replace it. The bed now sags in the middle and is super uncomfortable.
Buyer beware, although it seems like a steal initially you get what you pay for in the end.
On an unrelated note, the bed does slide when you sit on it on wood floors as others have mentioned.
I researched bed frames for a lonnnng time. Like 3 months ;) I finally decided on this one - it is a great price & most of the reviews were good. My husband was able to put it all together in around 15 minutes. It is sturdy and our queen tuft and needle mattress fits perfectly on it. The slats are great and we don't have use a box spring! I love the color of the wood and am happy with my purchase :)
I would give this a higher rating, but of the 6 legs, I received one that was an inch shorter than the others. I attempted to inform the seller but got no reply. Other than that, this bed is nice. the non-slip pad that the frame came with was super useful.
Love it. It doesn't make any noise when you move on it. Made of heavy solid wood. The only issue is that the whole frame slides when you sit up on the bed and lean against a wall or headboard. Maybe need a rug underneath or some kind of pads for the legs.
Between 2 people 160, and 180 lb. and a queen size mattress and bedding approx 70lb. This bed frame still has troubles supporting the weight. After finding out today that the center support bar under the bed frame has bent we have to do a DIY to add side supports to help displace weight for the center. As you can see the 4 corner supports Just do not work correctly. I hope this review helps other people not make the same mistake. Especially if you weigh more than 200 lbs this bed frame may not be right for you.
The overall looks good but the velcro is twisted 380 degree around, which is unacceptable for me. How could a worker be careless? How this so simple task be poorly made? I asked for a part replacement but Amazon only offer a whole-item replacement, which I don't want to carry a heavy, bulky package back to the postal code. There is no part replacement through this service. Disappointed with the lack of part replacement rather than a item/product replacement.
This bed is exactly like the picture, sturdy and has enough supports underneath that if you like to jump onto your bed or have sex the legs wont snap. (why I had to go with a solid wood frame!)
Dont get me wrong this us not something you want if you plan on jumping on your bed. Its about on par with IKEA quality. The redeeming quality lies in the 9 support legs. 6 of which are solid wood. So it does feel sturdy to sleep on. We will most likely swap the wood slats for plywood at some point just to get the support to be a little more uniform.
I've bought other zinus products and again I was not disappointed! Came very fast and assembly was ridiculously easy. Very sturdy. I'm so impressed with this company. Even the styrofoam that helps protect the wood from damage was wrapped in plastic so you dont have little chunks of styrofoam falling off during unpacking, whichbis always a pain to clean up. I will say that I thought there was going to be a ledge which would allow the mattress to sit inside the frame so it didn't move around. This isn't the case and it is flush and the mattress just sits on top. I think it will be fine and shouldn't slide with the adhesive strips and weight but time will tell. Still not fazed tho! I love it.
I cant say enough good things about this company. Zinus takes pride in the details and yet the cost is still low and the product is quality. I will purchase more from this company if the opportunity arises... wish they made other furniture!
Ordered a hybrid mattress from Lucid so I thought I would snag one of their frames as well. Seemed relatively cheap but I initially chalked that up to simplicity done right. While the overall frame is nice wood, the middle supports are cheap hollow metal. We padded all the feet, but the metal leg sides quickly pierced their own pads and our additional ones. The damage to our beautiful hardwood floors was astounding (see pic). My thoughts are that Lucid should perhaps suggest using this frame exclusively in carpeted areas....
I was very glad to be rid of my box spring and frame which, as the years go on, was seeming rather high. I love this platform bed. It was quite easy to put together, with the exception of one screw that finally went into place. The bed is very sturdy, the slats are strung together and Velcro to the frame. I’m very happy with my purchase.
I buy a lot of Amazon, but I never thought of buying furniture before. I was in the market for a new bed frame and with a new mattress on the way already, in a bigger size than my current frame, I had to act fast. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this frame!! I read the reviews before purchasing, most were good but some were not so good.. but I said to myself, worst case scenario: we send it back! Well. Honestly, this bed turned out to be the BEST case scenario. It was so easy to assemble (like way easier than IKEA furniture, easy.) and it's super sturdy. The frame doesn't keep your mattress in place itself, so they added sticky pieces to the slates. It's definitely doing the trick. We've been sleeping on it for a few weeks now and it's awesome. If it can handle two people, and two rottweilers and not feel like we're going to collapse, I'd say that's pretty great. Oh, and my Dad, who helped me build the bed, really wanted me to add how awesome the ratchet tool was that was included! While building the bed, it was very clear that this company really cares about the products it is putting out. Bravo!
This bed took 2 people about 20 minutes to build.
I would recommend it to anybody.
This is our third Zinus bed frame this year, two in Florida and one in Canada. They are a breeze to assemble, everything is supplied, even the tools and even spare bolts and nuts. There is no more wave action when my husband rolls over. It is a nice looking, solid piece of furniture. Our neighbour purchased one as well, and I know they are happy too.
I'll preface this by saying that I have no trouble with Ikea assembly instructions, and have only rarely run into an assembly manual that I did not understand. If you are the type that is confused by super simple instructions (like Ikea), I really don't think that it's the instructions that are causing your difficulties, and you should probably just spend the money on pre-assembled furniture.
That being said:
- I found the instructions extremely simple to follow
- All of the branded materials inside were nice quality and well designed
- All of the holes lined up the way they should, and there were no missing pieces
- I easily assembled the frame by myself
- All the materials were very high quality
- I trust the durability of this frame
- The price was an excellent value, especially when considering I didn't pay for the 2 day Prime shipping
- The box was WAY heavier that I expected based on the size... I'm 25 and I'm saying watch your back on this one folks
We're 9 months into using it, and it's stayed sturdy, and wobble and squeak-free. I've recommended this frame to multiple friends and family members for the quality and value, and would absolutely buy it again.
Based on my experience with this, my other Zinus bed frame, and my two Zinus mattresses, I'd say this company has cornered the market on quality, affordable bedroom furniture.
I am so impressed with this bed! The kit they send is great, includes the tool you need, PLUS a ratcheting one as a bonus! Made getting the longer screws in faster :) I appreciate that allot.
Another bonus is the thank you package the people a Zinus send along, my wife LOVES IT!
The bed itself is very solid, thoughtful touches like velcro to hold the slats in place and sticky tape to hold the mattress in place are very nice.
Well worth the low price!
This bed is super easy to put together. I did it with a partner in about 20 minutes, but it would be easy to do by yourself. It comes with a brilliant ratchet Allen key which makes assembly so much easier -- honestly worth it just for that. The bed is also really sturdy. Pretty standard platform bed. Great quality for the price!
Colour and texture looks like the picture. IKEA quality but more stylish in my opinion. Also less expensive than Ikea. Glad I got this bed frame on amazon because it was double the price on Wayfair.com. Super easy to put together. I would definitely opt for the deluxe deluxe or whatever its called for a bit more $ because it’s more sturdy. (For reference my bed is hella heavy, took 4 grown men to get it up the stairs and I’m 205lbs)
This product was easy to assemble and can be done by one person. It is sturdy and well designed. There are optional sticky strips on the slats to help hold mattress in place. The "natural" colour is actually a stain on the rustic side. I would have preferred an unstained option or a more neutral shade. Rather than return the frame, I painted it to match my decor. There are only 4 pieces of long flat wood and 4 legs. Painting them was quick and easy. The slats didn't need to be painted as they were already a neutral colour and cannot be seen once the mattress is installed.
