Easy to put together and very sturdy .
Only negative thing is the slide is to straight.
My 4 year old son went down twice and both times he got hurt hitting hard at the bottom.
Same thing with my 6 year old grandson.
The slide was the main reason I bought this bed. Now I wish I would have saved my money..
Any suggestions on making the slide safe and fun for the kiddos?
Disappointed mommy..☹️
My wife and I were looking for a loft bed to make some more play space in my 3.5yr old son's bedroom. It's a fairly small room and we wanted more room for him to spread out his toys and things on the floor. He loves the new bed and spends quite a bit of time up on the bed part with his books as he does down below playing. We didn't think of how much he would like spending time in the bed part.
Assembly was fairly straight forward and the instructions are complete. The worst part of assembly is putting together the long side of the upper rails. Since there aren't separate fasteners, they have to be slid in at the same time as the end panels go on. Definitely requires two people.
When assembled as delivered, the bed is fairly sturdy. It's not too tall, so it would probably be livable. I decided to make a couple of improvements for its long-term use and peace of mind. The first was that I added 6 more slats to the part that supports the mattress. We are using a 5" thick foam mattress from IKEA and it just seemed too soft in places. With three 1x3's eight feet long, I cut six more slats at 39" and screwed them down just like the others. The next improvement was to use some self-tapping sheet metal screws to join the slats to the steel beam down the center. This made a huge difference in the rigidity of the bed. Finally, I added two anti-tip furniture straps to tie it to the wall.
Overall, I would say that this was a winner. I was hesitant to buy something instead of building it myself, but I think that in this case it was a success. With a couple of inexpensive improvements it became exactly what we needed.
We bought this as a Christmas Gift for our 3 year old daughter. It was the best purchase we made all year. Even though we downsized her bed from a queen to a twin, she has not complained once. The bed was easy to assemble, and only took my husband about 1.5-2 hours to put together. We did receive a cracked piece of wood, but had tremendous customer service and received a replacement within 2 days.
We have not had any issues with the slide being too straight. Both our kids have enjoyed having an indoor slide in the house.
There are lots of other loft with slides out there (we did a ridiculous amount of research), and while this one is a little more pricey than the others, it’s value is worth it in gold. I love that the slide can go on either side of the bed, and that the hardware matches the white wood. In addition, there is a high weight limit on this bed, so we are still able to lay with our kiddo and read her bedtime stories without being afraid of falling through.
The ONLY minute downside is that we had to go and purchase hardy board to go under the mattress so that the blankets wouldn’t go between the slats.
The bed is super cute! Fairly sturdy, however, I took off one star because the slats are spaced pretty far apart so the mattress we have up top (IKEA foam mattress) sinks down between them when weight is put on it. I’ve ordered a “bunkie board” that has slats going in the opposite direction, so I think that will solve the problem. The slide is a big hit, but trying to think of a solution for a cushion at the bottom. Overall a great bed at a good price!
Update - middle step broke - whole bed is completely useless now. Super disappointed.
Bed a bit wobbly when you are on the top. Not super thrilled about that.
This is great for my two grandsons who are 3 and 5. We bought them the loft bed version with the stairs, not the ladder, and put a full-sized foam mattress on the floor underneath, like a twin-full bunk bed. We chose this loft bed because it is low so if one of the kids jumps or rolls out, they don’t have far to fall and the full bed underneath adds about a foot more cushion to break a fall.
That being said, with a 10” twin foam mattress on top, there is still plenty of railing extending high enough to prevent accidental rolling out of bed, so that’s another plus.
The stairs are safe for even our youngest grandson to climb on - he is just over 1.
The only downside is that one of the parts of the stair railing arrived broken and we had to use wood glue to assemble it. Overall, including the wood glue, it took about three hours for two people to assemble. Even with the broken part, the price was right and the finished product is everything we hoped it would be. Great looking and very sturdy.
Good quality. Very sturdy- mom or dad can climb in and it feels sturdy. Solid wood. No smell. Three year old loves it. Slide is fast, but she figured out how to control her speed by the end of first day. We bought a standard twin 8” thick mattress to go with it, and there is 2-3” of extra space around edges of mattress and frame. We just put a pool noodle in between to keep things from getting wedged in there. Maybe a different mattress would fit differently but we wanted low profile thickness to keep the safety rails as high as possible.
Overall this bed is a well engineered bed, seems to be perfectly fine for a small child however I would not recommend getting anywhere close to max weight. Legs are smaller than 2x4 and held together with m6 bolts (2 per leg). You will get a bag of bolts, screws and dowels. Screws, bolts, washers are all different sizes and nothing is labelled whatsoever. The majority of the time putting together will be sorting the hardware box. They bothered to assign part numbers to the various screws and bolts but they mean nothing, as once again, nothing is labelled. One of the bottom bracing boards was cracked down the middle that was part of the staircase so I had to make my own due to once wooden dowel was slid in, it split right in half. Other than these factors overall it was a decent frame. At this price point one could expect some hardware to be labelled instead of thrown loosely in a bag.
