These are really handy to cover up SMALL marks in wood furniture. I have used it on cabinets (I have cherry) and floors and it does help hide some of the smaller dings.
Its not perfect but does help make somethings look almost new again.
I would recommend this to anyone who has small marks. It is not a solution to larger marks though.
You have to test this first!! It looked terrible on my kitchen table, which is java colored, but worked good on our bedroom set, which is also java colored. It's not going to make your product look new, because that chipped off area is always going to show, and it may have a different sheen, but it made those chipped areas much less noticeable.
I colored in the bad area, then immediately wiped over it with a wet cloth so the marker didn't get anywhere except for the bad spot. If there was marker on top of the original finish, it looked bad. It is a gamble to buy the markers because there's no guarantee you will get a good result.
Worked great! The scratches my kid put in my coffee table are all but gone now so I went ahead and retouched my bookshelf, too. It was banged up from a couple of relocations and now looks great!
Rub it off with your finger after applying, it’ll take it off the undamaged surface and stay on/soak into the scratches. Washes off fingers fine. Bit of an odor so be careful if you’re sensitive to that.
I bought these to try to downplay some scratches on laminate flooring from previous owners of the place where I live. You have to be a little creative to get it to be natural looking, mixing colors and following patterns. Also, I recommend having a paper towel and some spray floor cleaner handy - when the marker liquid is on the surrounding area on my floor, you can see it. But applying it carefully and wiping excess off between colors has seemed to work. Just have to be patient and careful.
I have medium oak cabinets I need to touch up and figured one of these had to match. My last light colored marker dried up after 20 years and that brand is no longer on the market. So I ordered these up. They came a day early which was nice (hence the 1 star). The 2 lightest shades have so much red in them that they stand out completely on my cabinets. The rest are all very dark. So if you have light to medium oak DO NOT ORDER THESE.
Tried it on different surfaces and even though I cleaned up/ wiped down after each use, it still looked like a child took a permanent marker to the surface.
The only reason I didn't give it a 1 star is because it works well on corners. But that's it. I definitely wouldn't purchase again.
I have cherry cabinets and they got a few dings over the decade. I tried Minwax, a Sharpie and some other stain, none of which had any impact. I thought maybe the wood was too hard, the old stain wouldn't allow anything in...whatever. I got these today and in short, they worked great. I tried two of the colors to get what I needed. Do they look brand new...of course not. But from 10 feet away you can't see any dings anymore. I am pleasantly surprised.
These markers don't blend at all, it's like using a red Sharpie and leaves lines.
They are all red, not oak, or maple, etc. Garbage! Not usable!
The oak is red, the maple is red, the walnut is green. And they don't blend into the wood. They just leave a red line like I wrote on the wood with a red Sharpie marker.
And now I'm hassling with Amazon to return these and get my money back.
