It did not take long to install, about 30 minutes and is engineered to install well. The clamps are quite good.
As others have said, this cover does not have easily adjustable tension. The Amazon description is wrong.
And it works, but I believe an inch longer would be better. 1/2" in front and 1/2 in back. Mostly because of the design of
the tailgate. That costs it 1 star.
I wrote to TruXedo about this cover not having the manual tensioning device. Their advice was for me to buy a different product if I wanted that. But their description says it has the device so how would I know what to order?
For that response I am reducing the stars. Very disingenuous on the part of TruXedo.
First of all the product came in before the date which was awesome. packaging was great and cover was packed great too.. Put on the truck with in 20 minutes but just read the instructions because my truck bed had a liner on it and it showed that I had to put the foam strip on the cover not the truck bed because it wouldn't stick. Instructions were detailed and completely understandable thank god. I would recommend it with out a doubt. Also I was very impressed that the person who packed it was put inside the box too. Pride and professionalism at its best..
Got this out of the box and on the truck in 30minutes. Stoopid easy install. Would have been done in 15 if i had noticed the gap under the rail that runs parallel to the cab. Had to disassemble and use the foam tape that came with kit to weather proof the bulkhead area. Had i read the instructions I probably would have caught that earlier but i do what i do. Looks good and looks the same to me as the ones that stores want 2-5x the money for. Time will tell how it weathers (that’s the reason for 4 vs 5 stars) but for this price I can just plan on replacing them every few yrs. It rained pretty hard yesterday and I checked the bed of the truck, not a drop, kinda impressed. Would recommend.
This cover installed relatively easy and looks really awesome on my RAM 1500 Crew Cab. My brother owns the TonnoPro cover and it looks great on his RAM, but the thing I noticed and have read in many reviews is that the TonnoPro cover doesn't cover the tailgate. The cover ends short of the tailgate and the rubber seal doesn't sit on top of the tailgate. The Tuxedo extends about an inch past where the tailgate closes and the rubber seal sits on top... yes, you'll need to just click open the cover, close the tailgate and then close the cover, but I like the fact it's sealed from the elements. That's the main reason I paid a bit more for this cover and I'm happy I did. The only advise I'd give is that definitely before you snug up the rails, make sure to put the cover on near the cab and click the levers under the rails... then go ahead and snug up the rails. I made the mistake of getting the rails in place and snagged up and then realized I didn't leave enough room for the cover to snap down under the rails so had to loosen everything back up and start again.
I've been using Truxedo covers for well over a decade, and they have always served me well. I bought this newer style to fit a new pickup with the RAMBox configuration. I like this style the best so far! The flat angled velcro attachments, as opposed to the original vertical velcro, allow the cover to easily roll up without the prior need to pull the vertical velcro loose first on both sides. And the new latch mechanism is VERY much improved over the old style using a small lanyard, that kept unhooking itself while driving. The new latch literally flys open, flipping the back edge of the cover forward to prepare to roll it up. As always, the seals hold up to pressure washing the truck, so cargo remains dry.
So I previously owned a 2015 Ram and had one of these and it worked great. I had to upgrade to a 2500 with the Rambox in 2018 to pull a trailer. I needed this cover for gear and luggage and we were expecting rain. So dropped $500 and got this cover. when it arrived i realized I it was missing the 3/8-16 x 5/8 inch bolts. So went to Home Depot thinking it would be an easy fix. the only ones they had were 3/4 inch long to use with washers. Did now work well, the rails were tilted at an odd angle. Called Truxedo and talked to two different very nice ladies and sent my order from Amazon--they appeared not to like that I ordered from Amazon and there must be a black market for these bolts. after a while got one to agree to send me the bolts. weeks later no bolts. Sent an email today and now they wanted the parts number---they apparently do not have access to the correct data. So finally out of desperation and another upcoming trip I got my Dremel tool some cutting discs and made the bolts. So now it fits and operates correctly. The rails are beat up but it works. without this problem and delay, would give it a 5 star. Should have sent it back if I had it to do over.
So update, they sent me the bolts and low and behold, it fits perfectly, So I have to get over the instillation problem, and go to the end result which is very good.
