HONBAY Velvet Convertible Sectional Sofa L Shaped Couch with Storage Ottoman Reversible Sectional Couch Sofa for Small Space,Light Grey

Read reviews that mention:

Hey, so you're probably thinking this couch looks like a great deal! I thought the same. I purchased this couch recently, and had it arrive A DAY earlier than what amazon was showing for expected delivery ( which is great!). It took me an hour or two max to assemble, and the instruction manual was easy enough to follow. The instructions video, which was included in the manual helped me run through the assembly more efficiently. The couch is somewhat nice to sit on, however I do have two complaints/suggestions that future buyers who plan on purchasing this couch should keep in mind.

1. The couch sits a bit too low. This is something I somewhat expected from reading the other reviews, however if you're 5'8-5'9 or above, you will have to adjust the way you sit, because planting your feet on the ground will require proper posture with how low this couch sits from the cushion, to the ground. Makes sitting feel more formal, than casual.

2. The wooden separating bars underneath the cushions, can be felt on your tailbone. There are separating wooden bars, that divide each designated cushion evenly underneath the couches. This is extremely uncomfortable. I wish they would of assembled this mechanism different, to where those sitting on this couch could sit on each cushion easily, without worrying about hurting their tailbone from sitting on the wrong designated area the manufactures intended. I suggest placing the springs, over these bars instead. For those wondering, I counted three wooden bars total to be within this unit that separates each seat.

Now with that said, let's move onto what I actually like about the couch.

1. The appearance, it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
2. It's comfortable enough to fall asleep on. I've managed to fall asleep on this couch twice now, since it's arrived so that's great.
3. It came with an ottoman, which is pretty neat.
4. The Price point, is appealing.
5. Easy to assemble.
6. The length of the couch is nice. It takes up plenty of space in that aspect.

Overall, I would not recommend this couch for those who are 5'8-'59 or above. If they would of made the cushions sit a bit higher, and removed those wooden bars from blocking the seating area, I would feel like this couch was the perfect fit. I would return it, but I feel like that would be more of a hassle than actually ordering the unit. So you, there! Looking to furnish your brand new house/apartment? Or maybe you're just trying to replace an old couch in your existing home; Keep looking. This couch's price point is appealing, but you're compromising for overall comfort. So ask yourself, are you into purchasing a couch that just looks good, or do you want to actually sit on it someday, and be able to lounge? I think the answer is obvious.

Edit: I replaced the legs for the couch with wooden ones, so the couch sits higher. It's better now, but still buying 12 sets of legs costed nearly an extra $100 to resolve the proper foot placement for average height males.

Update 04/10/2020: I noticed the tufting for the pillows, where the little two indents that make the pillow look stylish has started to come loose, after a little over a month and a few days. I've been moderately using this couch, so the fact that this has happened so soon is a red flag. I contacted the seller, and they are sending me two new pillows for the two pillows that have lost their tufting. I will update the review if I notice anymore changes.

Also after carefully analyzing I've realized what has also contributed to this couch being so uncomfortable. It's the backside of it. It does not offer proper shoulder/head support for the upper body. What I mean by this is, the pillows for the back, for which one can lean back on, sits higher than the actual back frame of the couch. This is not a couch that you can lean your head back comfortably on full body wise with proper, comfortable support. If you have the funds, I'd recommend investing just a little bit more money into something more well-built, and comfortable. Especially if you don't plan on putting this couch up against a wall, as a substitute for back support. Also the seats are extremely shallow, causing the person sitting to have to re-adjust constantly.

UPDATE 06/18/2020: I've decided to get rid of this couch, and just buy a brand new one off amazon from one of their stone and beam selections. I wish the best of luck to those who do choose this couch in the future.

I bought this almost 2 years ago (December 2019) and getting rid of it today. This is the first couch I ever purchased (everything else has been hand me downs). and a learning experience for what I do and don't like. Overall I think it was worth the money spent, because now I know better, ,but don't expect it to be good for long term, or heavy use.

I am a couch potato, so I use my couch a lot. If you are a light user, then this is a great couch. If you sit on it for more than an hour or two a day expect problems.

Tips:
1. it is very long. Even using the measurements and spacing it out in my room it was longer than I expected. Make sure you have the space to get around it.

2. As long as it is, it is very narrow! I normally sit length wise on the couch, so it wasn't a big deal, but if you sit facing out, and you have longer legs, keep this in mind. It might not be deep enough

3. The cushions flatten in the first sitting. And the boards are placed in just the wrong spot that you can feel them and it is not comfortable. I did get 2 inch foam to but under the cushions and that fixed most of the problems. I used a flat bed sheet that is about the same color to cover the foam to it blended (I do not have the skills to recover cushions). I just wrapped the foam in the sheet and put the cushions over it. That also made it easy to clean, just toss the sheet in the washer, recover, and good to go.

4. If you tend to sit in the same spot on the couch, then you will have to rotate the cushions often (about every two weeks for me). They do puff back up over time, but flatten quickly, I found rotating them helped a lot. Because of this I never used the velcro. I wanted to have them set in place before attaching them, then found I needed to rotate them often and I didn't want to damage the felt it attaches to. I never had an issue with the cushions sliding out of place.

5. The remote holder seemed useless to me, because I had this couch in a corner and so I could never get to it, but then I put it under the cushion and over the edge of the ottoman, and was perfect.

Pros:
It stayed clean. I have 4 cats and I didn't have an issue with pet hair sticking to it. I did have one corner get abused by scratching. I didn't have an issue with staining, and a cloth with some dish soap got most spots out.

It went together easily, never had an issue with coming apart or pieces moving.

The storage ottoman is great, and that piece I will keep to use elsewhere in the living room. It is extra seating when we have company and holds a lot.

Cons:
The one area that is impossible to clean is under the cushions. The felt (that hold the velcro on) is a crumb magnet and no amount of vacuuming got it clean. The sticky rollers would probably help, but I never tried it.

Because the L piece of the couch doesn't attach in any way I could never use it as an L couch. That piece would slide with the slightest pressure. If you know you want it in one place you can probably use a drill and attach screws and a bolt to attach it where you want. Under the couch is very easy to get to, and this would probably be easy.

It is not great for the back if you sit for long. I liked the look of the tilted arms and back, but I realized that it is not comfortable. This was a learning experience for me.

Overall about a 3/5
I got the sofa with a defective peice. But the seller was really kind. They communicated regularly and were ready to offer product replacement and compensation. It was really nice of them.
I like this couch, it’s for my office/gaming area. The couch is roomy I’m 6’1 /200 lbs. Pretty firm, but comfortable. I’ve fallen asleep on it numerous times. The little throw pillow that it comes with are SMALL. We just bought some normal throw pillows for it at Home Goods. Like I say this isn’t a $2,000 couch, I don’t know what at people are expecting for $600. Great for a kids area or gaming area.
The only reason the cushions look like this is because they’re still airing out, hasn’t been 48 hours yet. Easiest couch assembly I’ve ever had. If you do get confused on anything search HONBAY couch and they have videos. Also, couch sits up high enough which I appreciate and comfortable
To not be a large couch, its a pretty good size as well as very nice and comfortable. It was easy to put together as well, which was a plus.
