This bed is great!! I gotta say that assembly is not hard to do but there is a lot of bolts and nuts.. i am pretty saavy assembling furniture but this bed took me about 3hrs to complete. Be aware of the gas struts as they go one way only in the assembly and make sure they are on the right position before screwing the 'lock nuts' which they are hard to remove once they are in. There was a review here about been to hard to fold the bed once you have open the storage comparment and that person is correct, the pressure on the gas struts seems to make it hard to fold, i am not saying is a bad thing to me is OK but it may be hard for some to apply a bit of extra muscle every time you push down the bed back in place. Mounting the mattress holder to the gas strut assembly was hard, you need an 2 person to asemble that part. I try by myself and i place a bolt to keep it in place but the weight bent the bolt and broke it and BTW there is NO spare parts.

Pros:
Okay the price was right for this bed.
Storage is spacious and works as described.
The texture of the bed was good.
It looks solid and good quality with minor details.
It looks nice after assembly and the edges are soft.

Cons:
The gas strut bolt mount TURNS while fastening and removing nut (There is NO counter hold.)
There is NO spare parts.

Important Note To Seller: The gas struts bolts' mounts turn at the same time you are fastening the nut into the bolt and the bolt mount does not have a counter hold to grip while fastening therefore making it extremely hard to fasten and remove the nuts. It extendend my assembly time 45min since i first mount the gas struts the wrong position and the nuts were not coming off as i hace to use pliers to hold the mount to counter my wrench to remove the nut.

It took my daughter and I about 4 hours to put this together but we love it. Looks and feels very high quality. We have a 14 inch mattress on it so you don't see much of the headboard once the pillows are on the bed. I was worried that the lift mechanism might not work or not work well but once it was all put together it is perfect. My daughter is extremely happy with her beautiful new bed and I'm thrilled that we have that storage space but I do with it was a few inches deeper.
This is a fantastic bed for a New Yorker in a small apartment. My closet is literally one foot wide so having the extra storage for out of season clothing, extra bedding and luggage really saves my life. You could put those things under a normal bed in a normal bedroom, but this completely prevents having to lug out under bed bins and also not having tons of space on either side to do so.

The depth is about a foot. I do have one very large suitcase that won't fit underneath, but all my carry on luggage fits below. I have four large rolling underbed storage boxes inside, two carry on sized suitcases (filled with other travel paraphernalia and duffes, tote bags etc, my laptop bag, extra towels, 3 sheets sets with pillowcases and random small items that I just don't need to have out but cant part with.

I'm 5'6" and have no issues lifting the bed up to access the storage or putting it back down, although I do have to reach and give a hard push down. It might be difficult for someone very short or without a lot of strength. There is a pull strap at the foot of the frame to assist with this if you can't reach the top but I feel like it's a lot harder to pull down that way.

Assembly was not super easy. We made a few missteps and had to retrace our steps to get it right. I'm probably not going to enjoy moving this when the time comes either, but that's not in the near future and since I got the full size, I would imagine I might be able to move it intact.

There is a gridlike support base inside of the storage area - so the bed isn't open to the floor. You would have to be careful to put smaller heavier objects onto the support base and not in the space in between, though there is a thin fabric covered liner that goes on top of the base... it just didn't feel incredibly strong to me.

I am using this with a memory foam mattress and no box spring. I understand that this bed can be used with both, but personally, I think it would look weird and cover up a large portion of the headboard. There is a full sprung wood base that's part of the bed, so I think most mattresses could be used on this without a box spring. My memory foam seemed much more comfortable and seemed to have more give after taking it off of the old box spring I was using previously.

I paid around $275 for this bed on Amazon. It's the same bed you can find on Ostock although it's listed as a different manufacturer on their website. When I was shopping around for a new bed, they had it listed for almost $100 more on their website.

One caveat - I was missing pieces important for Step 2 when I initially received the bed. However, DHP had the parts sent out to me fairly quickly, but required a lot of documentation to get them. Still. Worth it. I love this bed.
