We love the look and the sturdiness of this bed, and are glad to have storage space beneath it, but the legs should be inset by at least an inch. It's too easy to walk a bare toe into one and fall into bed cursing. We are aiming to be more careful in the future.

I have a 12 inch mattress and the headboard is half obscured on the bottom row of panels. The headboard is shorter than I thought it would be. I would say that a 10 inch mattress is probably ideal. It went together easily enough by myself even though it recommended two people to put it together. Instructions are mostly clear and does a good job of supporting the mattress without a box spring. It was well packaged and come without damage. I just wish the headboard was taller to fit a thicker mattress.

I was a little nervous about throwing away my box mattress. It's all good though. I'm able to store stuff under my bed, and I never hear it creak.
