Very happy with this purchase. The knife is light weight, very sharp out-of-the-box and easy to handle. For the price the quality is outstanding. It is also well balanced. I sometimes have trouble with some knives because I have tendinitis in my wrist. This knife doesn’t hurt my wrist and I’m able to use it for extended periods of time without pain or fatigue.
This knife does everything as advertised. Very sharp and easy to hold. Just the right shape to filet good sized fish, prepare Sashimi and also perfect for slicing your Maki Sushi. Enjoy!
For an inexpensive knife it's really not too bad. I use it for work. On an average day I'll cut a case of cantaloupe, a case of honeydew, 2 cases of pineapple, 120 pounds of cooked chicken breast, 50 pounds of red potatoes, 50 pounds of yellow onion, 25 pounds of red onion, and 44 pounds of green pepper. It's not as nice as my "real" knife, but it's leaps and bounds better than what we are provided with. The handle is comfortable and overall the knife is well balanced. After two months of heavy use I just now need to sharpen it. I do run it over a steel every day, but you should be doing that anyway. It straightens the blade, not sharpens, and makes cutting so much easier. The knife does keep an edge better than any other knife at this price point. All in all a good knife for the money.
I've used this knife on multiple items so far. It cut raw chicken & meats very easily for me. There was no sawing required like some of my other knives. The size is perfect to make it a versatile tool in the kitchen. The knife is hand washed and dried. I have had no issues with this knife and it seems like it will be a sturdy knife for everyday use. So that makes me feel like they are confident in the lifespan of this knife. I am very happy with this knife and I would definitely recommend it to others.
I really like this knife. I figure I would buy a cheap one and use it as a work horse and not need to worry to much about it. This knife came super sharp out of the box, mental feels very strong. Handle is very well designed well balance. This is sturdy enough where I don’t have to worry about it. This knife will go in my knife bag whenever I go out to cook. Chef knife is also long which I like in my chef knife which makes it versatile In the kitchen. Wonderful knife and good to have.
I am becoming a real 'fan boy' of Imarku products. I mean, just look at how sharp this cleaver is! Really? Right out of the box! This was a gift to my son-in-law, who does a LOT of cooking, grilling and Texas style smoking. I teased him with it for a bit, and just let him drool. When I finally gave it to him, he was like a fat kid in a candy store! This Japanese style cleaver/knife is fantastic. Made in the traditional fashion of folding the steel over and over in the forging process, it is incredibly hard. And, using the single bevel edge that is also a Japanese tradition for the sharpest edge, Imarku has provided a knife to be treasured and cared for. Bernard (my son-in-law) really loves this knife. So much so, that he has taken it to a professional knife sharpener for the final stage in creating that ungodly edge on it that can cut a green coconut in half in mid-air. I'm actually regretting giving this knife to him. I'm jealous now and will have to get another for myself. FIVE RAZOR SHARP STARS!
I was impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of the knives. I was looking for a boning knife and purchased the boning knife and the large butcher knife. The handles are a little small for my hands, but I have large hands, otherwise the handles are very nice and the knives arrived super sharp. Normally, I sharpen knives upon arrival and felt that I was not going to improve on the edge of these knives. I have not used enough to determine how well they hold their edge and what use will do, but upon initial evaluation, these seem to be very good quality and well worth the money.
Once you experience these premium cutteries, you could never go back. That’s why I say this little butcher knife is surprisingly good!
I’ve been looking for a heavy weight cleaver type for a while - my goto brand Shun does not really have that option. The main purpose for this knife is to butterfly large whole fish, so it can go through bones. Also occasionally splitting whole bbq chicken or Chinese style crispy pork.
This one totally gets the job done. Plus, as you can tell, the aesthetic side does match to my shun collection.
Highly recommended for anyone who need to swing this type of heavier knife.
