I bought another two. One for my work kitchen and one for home. I bought one when I was in culinary school and it lasted through many years of semi-trained help beating it up. My first one is finally semi-retired since my minions lost all the adjustment screws and somehow managed to chip the blade. I suggest taking the hardware that holds the julienne and other blades off when not in use to avoid losing them. Even though it has the safety guide, ALWAYS wear a cut glove. Mandoline injuries are no joke. My fixed-blade Euro mandoline cost several times what this one did and lost the edge almost immediately. The angled blade is far superior to the perpendicular Euro style.

Great product. Favorite madolin of all mandolins. My boss is very picky with his equipment. I remember the first time I borrowed it he said "please don't break it, it's my favorite".
Bought one myself and that's what I tell coworkers and classmates when they ask to borrow it.
What makes this superior to other mandolins is that it has the rubber stopper on the bottom so it stays put while you slice away. Better than having a complicated stand that folds in and out on french models.
My review has nothing to do with the product performance. I never used it. I ordered the Jumbo slicer, model BN-120. I expected it to come with extra blades for making julienne/matchstick vegetables. But the Jumbo only comes with one regular blade for slicing.

I was confused by the other models and photos that show multiple blades. It's only after I received the item, did I go back to the description and realize that the extra blades are not included with the Jumbo model. Again, the Jumbo model only slices and will not do julienne/matchstick style vegetables.

Although I never used the product, I was surprised to see that the prongs on the underside of the food holder are plastic (just like the holder itself). Most food holders I've seen have metal prongs that hold the food in place. Again, I never tried using the product. So maybe the plastic prongs aren't an issue.

To adjust the thickness, you rotate a knob on the bottom side of the slicer to the desired thickness. While doing this, you need to push down on the platform. Otherwise, the platform won't move by itself (the instructions mention this). When rotating the thickness knob, there are no "click stops", markings, or other thickness references. Therefore, determining the correct thickness is a matter of trial and error.

Overall, I'm going to look for something else. It appears that Benriner doesn't offer different blade types for the Jumbo model. And I want something that will do Julienne/matchstick slices.
After doing a lot of research, I guess my expectations were pretty high. This is the one brand that stood out more than any in all of the research.

Don't get me wrong. It's a good quality mandolin. It's easy to clean, and I expect it will last me a long time. I did find however that some vegetables are still really difficult to slice (Carrots and Jicama for example). I also hate how the vegetable tries really hard to work it's way into the corner (because of the slanted blade).

Also, as with any mandolin, you may want to get some Kevlar gloves. The little white hand protection will work for softer vegetables, but not for potato, carrot, jicama, and the like.

If you are used to mandolins, and you want a tough one that's easy to clean, you can't go wrong with this one.
I cook a lot of vegetable using knife or cutter. The old one I had was 'V' shape of blade which slice and shred so well. The blades of my old one became so dull, I had to purchase this one because I couldn't find the 'V' shape.
Slicing width is too narrow but ok to slice, but these extra blades that came with it to shredding doesn't work because of what the shapes are. I not only put 3 times more strength to shred such as carrots than the old one, but also I almost cut my hand every time I used it.
I dumped the whole thing in the garbage can!
This slicer works good. It sliced carrots well, but make sure you buy large carrots, because the thinner once will not be sliced much.

The only reason I gave 3stars is that it’s impossible to clean this sliced from orange color that occurred from slicing carrots. I even tried to scrub, but nothing helps.
The product dimensions said 4.5". The product name said 3.75". We received the item and the cutting surface was actually about 2.75". The cutting surface of the "original" is too small for average-sized apples, peppers, potatoes, etc. We returned the item. In addition, current pricing seems off.The "jumbo" is listed as the largest width at only $80 while the medium width one "wide body" is listed for more at $91. I think the product names, description, and pricing needs to be cleaned up. It was good quality though. We are returning with the hope that the product listings will be cleaned up. Then we will buy again. We really want one of these, just need the correct dimensions and correct pricing. Thank you, -JT
Over the last few decades I've worn out a few plastic V slicers. Eventually they just crack somewhere, and there's no way to repair them.

I decided to upgrade for this replacement, and so far I'm really impressed. The flat surface is nicely wide, the whole unit is very sturdy.

I like the fact that you can adjust things so the surface is entirely flat, screening the blade and protecting you from accidental exposure to the blade when the unit is in storage. The plastic holder is very sturdy and seems well designed.

Definitely well made, but I'm glad I got this one at a slightly discounted price.

Overall, this is a much simpler unit, and yet it has a more sophisticated design than the other mandolines I've tried over the past 40 years. Easy to get the slicing thickness where you want it (though not preset), easy to clean up, and easy to store.
I LOVE THIS MANDOLIN! I do miss some kind of case or system to store the spare blades together with the actual mandolin but it does work perfectly
Any household who dabbles in cooking should have one. We use ours several times a week. We can slide the thinest cucumber pieces ever. Superb product. Blade last a very long time. We just replaced ours that lasted 4 years.
Perfect as expected. Maybe a case to protect the blade when not in use would help...
Amazing mandoline, VERY SHARP, therefore use protector or you will cut yourself, but its proper knife, makes slicing so easy.
Love it
