This was only after using for 3 days. DEEP knife cuts, hard to clean food out of the knife cuts. Plastic shedding into my food. throwing these out!! Going back to pampered chef as I have a board that is over 10 yrs old that needed to be replaced. I cook almost everyday and being vegetarian I chop a LOT of veges!! The good ratings have to be bogus! Nope, no attempts to improve, just look at the 1 star ratings and pictures- they are aware and do not care. Looks like many are having this problem and they are choosing not to fix it!! Look back as this has been a complaint since December of 2016!!
I hate to write bad reviews, but these cutting boards simply did not meet my expectations. I do not know if they were a bit warped or what , but they slid all over the granite countertop when I tried to use them. I expected the handle part to grip the countertop, but they didn't. I should have sent them back, but somehow the hassle of doing that seemed like more work that it was worth. I would not recommend purchasing them.
I am very unhappy with these cutting boards. They are not hard as described. When using a sharp knife, it cuts big ridges in the cutting board where bacteria can gather. I would really like my money back.
Gorilla Grip Cutting Board- We purchased this cutting board set because it was so well reviewed on Amazon. We greatly appreciate reviewers and put trust into making purchases largely based upon reviews.
And so with a bit of sadness and total honesty, we have to say we are completely unhappy with the Gorilla Grip cutting board set after just a couple of weeks of use at home. At home! No commercial use. Mostly cutting veggies which DID NOT entail any chopping whatsoever!
The good: This is a very nice LOOKING set of cutting boards. The white cutting prep area is contrasted by the soft pink handles. There is a trough going around the boards to catch liquids such as blood and meat juice, which is a nice feature.
The bad: The cutting surface simply performs POORLY! Please take a look at the photos. After just two weeks of occasional household use, the cutting surfaces are cut and scarred. Worse yet, these cuts in the board become harbors for staining juices and bacteria. It’s just gross! And this makes cleaning all of the cutting marks a total chore!
We are experienced “foodies.” So we are well aware of how to use a soft touch with the knife. We train to cut our food during prep, not the cutting board. We don’t chop on the board and don’t use any cleavers. Mostly paring knives and a French chef knife. The durability of this set of cutting boards is dismal! Further, we like using cutting boards as a way to serve fruit and cheese...NOPE! Not with this set of boards! Not serving food on Battlescar Gallactica!
I’m in the market for replacement cutting boards after just two weeks... still hopeful I’ll get help from the review community that steers me to a better product. And that’s why I post reviews. We are in this together!
I used the small board first to cut green Chili and the knife
completely tore into the board.
These boards splinter. I've used them twice and on both occasions slivers of curled white plastic from the cutting boards have ended up in our food. I never should have tossed my old cutting boards, these are no good. Do not purchase them. You will regret it.
First I'll say these cutting boards are NOT thick. They work very well and we like the juice/liquid catching trough around the perimeter of each board, but the boards are thin and the troughs are shallow. The biggest cutting board barely fits in our dishwasher, so cleanup is easy. They do a fair job of not slipping on the counter (certainly NOT gorilla grip though!), but it would have been nicer if the black rubber ends were larger. We have some older Kitchen Aid cutting boards that are excellent with think boards and large non-skid rubber ends, but they are no longer available, so these Gorilla boards were a reasonable addition, but not as high quality as the old Kitchen Aid boards. For the price, these are a good purchase
I have owned plastic cutting boards for many years. Of all the ones I have owned, these are by far the best, and probably the last ones I will own (meaning I will not have to replace them or find another brand). They take a knife very well and, although the knives to leave marks, they are shallow - almost like light scratches - not a gouge like the softer boards. The non-skid edges are raised slightly so they grip the counters very well. They also clean up amazingly. Carrots, chili peppers, roasted tomatoes, etc. all come off without leaving stains (I wash the boards almost immediately, so I have not let the foods sit for long on the boards). The only thing I can say negatively about them, is that they have a hole in them for the handle. I personally do not like that, I like solid cutting boards, but most plastic boards do and it does not take anything away from their ability to perform their task. I would recommend these for anyone who likes high quality cutting boards that are easy to clean and do not gouge from the knives.
I am very disappointed when I received these cutting boards. Despite the name, they do not have a steady grip of the countertop at all. They moved around when I pretended cutting on them. This alone is disappointing enough for me to return the products without even having the try them.
Also, why is there no company logo on the boards?
Very disappointed - every knife slice marks boards & they don't grip granite well.
Return shipping costs exceeded $20 offered by Amazon/Seller.
Will be careful when ordering anything shipped from the US even if fulfilled by Amazon.
This is a great deal. 3 sizes and very well made. Have to give Amazon credit on the delivery because they went the distance on the delivery. I'm in Canada and they came from Kentucky and were delivered an hour and half from my address. Voiced a complaint and got them about 4 days later. Well made and I bought a 3 pack so good for all kinds of cutting needs from cleaning fish to cutting up small vegetables.
For a product with GRIP in the name, there are no non-slip feet on any of the 3 cutting boards. They slide all over the place, and are simply not safe in my opinion.
Beautiful colors and amazing other products by Gorilla, however, they really missed the mark on the cutting board design. I can't imagine how anyone buying this design isn't expecting it to have a GRIP to the counter top. It has literally ZERO GRIP.
The smaller 2 boards are fine, but the largest was warped. The rubber edges don't meet the surface and it spins on the counter when you cut. I have to put a towel or similar under it so it's safe to use.
They're also noisy and dull knives fast.
