I'll start off by saying I searched for a set like this for MONTHS. I had very particular needs as it had to fit in a small space (10ft x 7ft), I wanted 2 ottomans, enough seating for 5 or more people, I wanted bright, THICK (4" or more) waterproof cushions and I wasn't going to spend more than I did on my living room furniture. Believe it or not those are tough shoes to fill... until I found this set.
The frame feels very sturdy, the cushions are truly over 4" thick (after a few days of letting them fully expand), there is plenty of room for 5 or more adult size people (if you use the ottomans as additional seating) and they fit perfectly in my 10ft x 7ft space. Also, each of the pieces has an additional 3 inches of height on the back which is a big deal when it comes to comfort for this type of furniture because they are low to the ground. Out of all the sets I looked at within my particular search, this was the ONLY set that had that.
Another added bonus, this set comes with a cover for EACH piece of furniture... if you've priced patio furniture covers then you know this is a STEAL! And you can tighten them at the bottom so they don't blow away. I have used them a couple times so far during big rain storms and they worked great. The one thing I haven't determined yet is whether or not the cushion covers really are waterproof. The set is under a covered patio and I usually put the cushions up if I know it's going to rain but they have gotten sprinkled on and it didn't appear to penetrate the material. I also have 3 dogs and they love to jump on them with their dirty paws and so far the cushions have been easy to clean with just a damp rag.
My only complaint is that I wish the cushions would attach to the frame BUT that was an easy fix. I just bought a roll of self adhesive velcro and problem fixed. And yes, this set has to be assembled and it's a bit intimidating when you first open everything up. But I was prepared for that from reading other reviews. I assembled the majority of this by myself and used real tools to make it easier. It does come with tools incase you don't have any but if you do, save yourself some time and use them. I assembled this over a span of 3 days by choice but you absolutley could do it all in a day.
I've had this set for a few months now and I could not be happier with my purchase! If any of that changes I'll be sure to update my review. I rely heavily on reviews to make big purchases like this so if you're on the fence I hope my review helps you make your decision.
Love the color of the set and it wasn’t terrible to put together. It’s a great size for our backyard. My main complaint is that the covers are not waterproof. One of the main reasons we chose this set was because it included waterproof covers so we wouldn’t have to worry about taking the cushions in the house every time, especially living in south Florida with an uncovered patio. When it rains, the water pools on the cover and the cushions get soaked. I don’t want to bring the cushions in every night because there are ants on them from being outside and there’s no room to store them inside. I’m going to have to buy a separate cover that is actually waterproof. I even put the cushions on an angle so the water won’t pool and this is what happens to the cushions (see pics). They are completely soaked.
PROS: I love this set because it looks great, its comfy, and inexpensive ($610). The delivery came earlier than projected and customer service was great in that one small "plastic foot" came broken and they sent a replacement right away.
CONS: Perhaps I didn't read close enough but I didn't expect for there to be assembly required. Cheap allen wrenches kept wearing out. Luckily each box came with a new wrench. It didn't help that I have arthritis in my hands though. There were some parts that needed assembly where it was difficult to access, but not impossible. When sitting without the cushions, I would notice the seating area sink considerably. They didn't bounce back into shape right away, but I didn't notice drastic sinking when used with the cushions.
Overall I am quite happy with this patio set! My wife and I are spending more time outside and using it as an outdoor living room. Comparing to a comparable Broyhill set I saw at a local Home Goods store, I can tell the Broyhill was stronger and more durable, but at half the cost I'm fine with my purchase.
Overall, the set seems fairly well made and seems pretty sturdy. happy so far (just finished it yesterday)
You will DEFINITELY want to get a 5mm ball end hex wrench, and 5mm ball end hex for your socket wrench. all the screws are in places where access is somewhat limited. if you were to only use the included "L" shaped hex wrench, you would go nuts. About 100 screws in the 6 piece set) took about 3 hours not working too hard (hot!). light weight, assembled myself using table. the cushions are just acceptable as far as cushioning but the base is flexible too. no complaints. Fabric covers seem really nice, i expect them to last. hope the "rattan" holds up in the sun. Very comfy, and beers don't fall over on the arms. steel frame. 4 stars only because just started using, unknown durability.
This set is a great value for the money. Chairs and couch are comfortable, and the material the cushion covers are made of is durable and easy to clean. My only critique of the cushions is that they are softer than I would like, but again, at this price point, a great value. Be aware that you have to assemble everything. If you have successfully assembled Ikea-style furniture, then you will be able to handle this assembly job. Take your time putting them together, and you should be pretty satisfied with the results. One tip is to leave all the assembly hardware loose, and then tighten from the floor up, so to speak, while maintaining square and flush with the panels that the feet are attached to. This way, you avoid having a chair or couch that rocks back and forth on uneven feet.
