I love this so much. I'm going to add some pics to show what it looks like in my kitchen. First of all, the hardware was very well organized and labelled on a shrink wrapped card so that everything was easy to find. It took my husband just about half an hour to assemble. The allen wrench that came with it has a phillips screwdriver at one end and we put that one in the household tool kit for future use. We don't normally keep those since we would end up with dozens but this one seems pretty useful. The only thing hubby brought out the screw gun for was attaching the casters, as the holes were a bit smaller than the screws and would have taken a long time and a lot of effort to do manually since the wood they attach to is very solid. The photos are true to color and match our cabinets beautifully. I did end up deciding to sand the top since it seemed a little fuzzy for my preference. Then I treated it with a good butcher block conditioner, which I definitely recommend, and the top came out just beautiful. The casters are metal, not plastic, and seem like they will hold up well over time. Over all for the price the quality is great and we are very happy with it.
I would have given this cabinet 5 stars because I liked this cabinet. Its smaller design is perfect for a small space kitchen. I was surprised at the excellent quality given the price, and it was relatively easy to put together. But...there are 3 stickers, in various languages, on the butcher block top warning you not to sit on the cabinet which I get they are required to warn people not to do stupid things. I had a very hard time trying to find something that would remove the glue from the stickers. I tried vegetable oil, very hot water and dish soap, window cleaner, I finally resorted to a product that contains an acetone solvent, I didn't want to use it since this was a butcher block and I assume could be used for food prep. It worked, I guess I won't be chopping any food on it. I still like it and would recommend it. Maybe someone knows something that would get the glue off that is safe for food.
I have had my island a few weeks now and I really liking it! Easy assembly and there was a small defect on one of the doors so I had to contact dorel living customer service and they were very friendly and sent a new door and it arrived within 5 days.
I received my Doral island. The shipping box was in tact, but when my husband unpacked the box we found the piece for the drawer to slide on was split and also the narrow strip on the back of the drawer was split. My husband glued it , also the rods for the towel rack and the spice rack were missing. The island is a good quality for the money, but I think the manufacturer is careless with products not being checked thoroughly before shipping. I will be in touch with the manufacturer.
Love the cart! We especially like the look of the top of it. After putting on the protective coatings it has a nice golden color. We didn't realize quite how useful and handy it would be. I took away one star for the casters only. They don't keep it locked very well. The extra storage was a big help. We put a some tubs inside to keep our plastics in. So nice to have them organized all in one place!
For the price, this is a nice little kitchen island. It’s easy to assemble and looks nice too. It says not to put appliances on top BUT I put my microwave on top and it is sturdy. I have it against the wall so it is more secure. Very happy with this purchase. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a kitchen island. It freed up much needed counter space.
It's a cheap stand. Emphasis on cheap. It functions well for what it is. But don't buy it for its features, and certainly don't buy it for its quality. It won't fall apart on you, but it isn't a nice, high-quality piece. Buy it because it's cheaper than what you can find at Wal-mart.
Expect to spend 1-3 hours putting it together, depending on how good you are at that sort of thing. Don't be surprised if you need to make a run to the hardware store. Mine arrived with a couple of broken pieces. I had to fashion a new guide for the drawer. The packaging was excellent. It didn't break in transit. In fact, given where I found the broken piece, I would say that the person who packed it knew it was broken, but didn't want to unpack it to replace the damaged part.
There's nothing wrong with this item. Just know what you're getting - a cheap, functional piece.
First, leet me say that when I ended up having problem with this item, Amazon worked with me, and I have money coming back to me now for this horrible item...
That said, the magnets that were pre-screwed into the fake wood (another thing I will get into in a moment) were not screwed in properly. One of them was also not working properly (there was one for each door) and was not set into the plastic right.
The metal 'screws' that were to be put into the 'wood' was slowly and sometimes quickly falling out. One of the bolts that was supposed to sit in one of the peg holes to hold up the shelf kept falling out due to the peg hole not being drilled properly.
This was MDF. It says it's not in the description, but it is. I hate MDF because it gathers moisture over time, it doesn't last, and it tends to ship and break when it's bumped. I would not have purchased this anyway if I knew this was MDF.
Then there were the wheels. They were supposed to lock. They kind of did... but really didn't. They were horrible when it came to the locking mechanism.
This was easily the worst item I have ever purchased through Amazon, and I purchase a LOT of stuff through here.
I still will make future purchases, however, due to the fact that Amazon handled this right.
