Lets face it, you're reading this review because you want to know if a super cheap sofa can actually be decent. Well. It isn't the best sofa you can buy, its not the most comfortable or the most sturdy. But its perfectly adequate and does the job. Where it really shines is in the value. Its firm and low off the ground, but has decent padding. It's a small 3-seater, but it does seat 3 people comfortably enough. Back is a bit low for me, but im 6 foot tall. No screws or bolts - this thing slides together like bricks. Buy this is you're on a budget and need the cheapest sofa that functions. If you can afford to buy a better sofa then you might want to though.
Just got this today. Set up was relatively easy, would've been easier with two people but aside from that it was breeze. One thing I should mention is in the package the instructions state that there's extra hardware included in the storage area of the seat. The only thing that were there were the legs. The metal brackets which hold the couch together are already installed. Made it a tad frustrating and confusing but meh.
The seat is firm, but I find this to be beneficial. My old couch was super soft and sitting long term would screw my back and neck up leaving me with a migraine. The best way I can describe this couch is that it's similar to a couch you'd find in a waiting room of a doctor's office. I'm 5'6" and the back of the couch is just right below my shoulder blades.
The legs are black plastic, the frame is wood, and the brackets are metal. The couch's color is more cool gray then gray. Google Pantone Cool Gray C to get an idea.
I'm weary of the legs as I feel like the bottom will scratch the floor over time. Not a problem. I can always get those felt pads from the dollar store.
I've read some reviews on this site and others stating that the couch is small. Is it? Yes. Look at the measurements before you make your purchase.
I'll update my review within the next several weeks if I find any downfalls or anything of the sort.
Awesome couch! But arrived damaged. I can fix it and it’ll be a great couch, I don’t want to return it, but it is kind of annoying that I paid full price for a damaged item.
I've purchased this sofa twice now. I've moved a few times so the fact that this disassembles and reassembles easily is awesome. Plus once you break it in after a few weeks it's comfy AF.
After lugging the large box up the steps and into my mud room, unboxing the sofa was pretty easy. There were no instructions included but putting the sofa together was straightforward, there were a series of metal brackets on each large piece that fit together like a puzzle and the legs screw on the bottom. The cushions are fairly firm but comfortable (much better than the previous sofa and the sinking cushions). Great for a new rental home and a family on a tight budget.
I just got it assembled and I have to say, overall, I'm impressed. The cushions are firm so they can support fairly heavy people. It's not long enough for someone over about 5'5 to lay out on, but that's not an issue for me.
My biggest complaint is with how cheap it feels...I mean, it's nice that the whole thing can be broken down easily, makes moving it a breeze, all but the back of it can be stored in the underside for transport. But the little pieces you see to the side of the back are NOT part of the back, they're add-ons, and they're wobbly. They don't fit firmly. I don't see why it was necessary to make them separate parts from the back. The legs are also made of cheap plastic. I'm going to look into finding better, possibly wooden ones to replace them. Ah well, you get what you pay for, right? And for some reason good couches cost a small fortune. If you're a bachelor looking for a cheap couch for your apartment, look no further.
Some things people might want to know:
Cushions have no springs in them, and are not nearly as thick as they look because the underside can be used as storage
Legs feel cheap and I'm afraid they'll break if I sit down too hard
If you're tall, like me, you have to slouch as the back isn't very high
Comes in 10 pieces - 4 legs, 2 arms, seat, back, and the two 'ears' on each side of the back
Overall seating area is 68x21 inches
None of the cushions are removable
Super easy to put together and very comfortable! Firm cushions and a supportive back. The color borders on light blue, but that's better than grey, in my opinion. Only real drawback on this couch is a tag above the left armrest--it's sewn in like the tag on the neck of a t-shirt, so there's no way to cut it out without damaging the couch.
So far so good! Sofa is comfy! The fabric feels amazing. It was super easy to put together. Couldn’t have asked for better value.
Had to add to this...my bulldogs shed and will drool a lot. When they get off the couch there is obviously evidence of the comfort they took on couch. All you need to did is get one of those sponges with the Brillo style on one side and it cleans up amazingly! Hair and all. Love this couch!
