Locks into place and stays in position very well when car is in motion.Bonus*Doubles as a cooler if your tailgating or simply would like to have some cold refreshments while on the road. There is no “drain” since this was technically not designed to be a cooler. But as I said earlier, it’s no hassle to detach and vice versa.Update - we purchased on December of 2016 and with heavy usage (especially when one is being used as cooler with ice and beverages) both Space Savers seem to be holding up pretty well. No signs of cracks or damage. It is now February of 2018, so we’ve owned it for a little over a year now.12/31/18..With much continuous use we still have no complaints as we approach 2019. Hope this helps. I have had this box for one year exactly. In the picture I've attached there are two bullet cases, each point to a crack in the case. The one on the left happened 3 months in. The one on the right happened at 6 months. I've been doing my best to baby this thing so it doesn't break anymore, but now the retaining clip that holds the yellow handle and retains the spring has fallen off and is nowhere to be found. What kind of warranty do I get for this? Because one year for a $180 product is pretty horrible.Edit: It's been 6 months since I made this review, no one has reached out to me to try and fix the situation. Obviously this company doesn't seem to care. Purchase cautiously. Pros -1. Easy to install2. Box Swings out for easy access.3. Box is removable.4. Adequate storage space.Cons -1. Box itself is plastic and which appears thin and therefore durability/longevity are concerns. With this said, no issues thus far (approximately 4.5 months)2. In my opinion, the box needs an inside cushioned liner of some sort to help protect tools, the box itself, etc...3. Already experienced a box to bed wall frame latch issue (stuck latch where I could not re-latch the box back to the frame). I was able to get the latch mechanism to pop back out using a screwdriver. I lubricated the mechanism well to prevent further sticking. Plan to do so on a routine basis. So far all is good. Note: My box sits under a hard tonneau cover so it is not exposed to the elements. We purchased this for our 2017 GMC Colorado. Our prior vehicle was a suburban so going to this truck was "downsizing" as far as storage space. We were not exactly thrilled with drilling into our brand new 40k truck but boy are we gald we did now that its on! Install was a breeze, a drill and 30 minutes of my husband's time. We have lots of space to keep our jumper cables, tow hitch, cargo straps, reusable grocery bags, gloves and still have room inside! And it locks too! And believe it or not people comment on it all the time when we are out shopping too! Its a great idea and a must have for anyone that has a pickup and needs extra storage space! Check what one will fit your truck.
