This litter box cabinet is lovely. It's solid and sturdy. Putting it together was straight forward with the step-by-step instructions. The hardest part of putting it together was at one stage, you have to turn over a big flat piece with dowels in it, but the dowels kept falling out, so I just wet them so they'd hold long enough to get them maneuvered into the right spot. My cats took to it immediately. I started them with their old litter box inside and the door open so they wouldn't be scared (and their other box in it's usual spot so they had a comfortable alternative), but they liked the cabinet more and started using it immediately. After about a day, I closed the door because one cat was hopping through the opening as a game, so she seemed to not mind it at all. My big guy (a thin 12 pounder) goes in just fine. The opening is about the same size as a covered cat box.The reviewers of other litter cabinets recommended high sided or covered litter boxes for inside so there's no leaking or missing the box. I found 2 high sided/covered litter boxes that fit in it it. One is the "High Shield Litter Box" from Iris and the other is "Deluxe Hooded Pan" by Petmate. The opening on the Petmate box is a little higher, so I would recommend the Iris one if you're buying a new one because it fits just a little better. The open top on the Iris box makes scooping a little easier because you don't have to remove the lid. I have tried both of these in person. Once put together, it looks great. Our cat also used it right away. The size is perfect. Height is just above my knee and our cat fits perfectly inside with the litter box.The reason I knocked off two stars is because the quality of the material is very cheap. The wood split in areas where screws went in and some of the pieces had minor damage before being assembled. The doors are also both slightly crooked. I think that the manufacturer should take these comments into account and strive for better material and better craftsmanship - especially if they are going to charge this much. I feel like I could have bought a better version elsewhere and would encourage others to shop around. Overall the construction of this product is par for the course for this type of product, it’s fairly simple to put together. Mostly you need a screw driver. We are on day 3 and when we first assembled it my wife remarked on the smell so I put it outside for about 24 hours and brought it back in. It’s in the office but by day 3 when I got home from work the smell has taken over the whole house... it’s horrible I’m ready to put it outside permanently... so buyer beware. I really needed another cat litter concealer and I went with this one because it was much bigger than the one I bought for our bathroom. It's the perfect size and fit, but it came with some flaws and some damages, which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Most of the flaws and damages are hidden inside, except for the part where a small chunk came off when I opened the box. I wish I had purchased this years ago. I purchased two as I have 2 cats. The cats are 2 years old and have never used a covered litter box. I was afraid they wouldn't use it, but they hopped in with no hesitation. I use mine in the laundry room, but the unit is attractive enough to you in any room of the house. Would definitely buy again. Package came today. Put it together in less than an hour. 4 hands would be helpful, but 2 hands will do.However, I can't put the right side door in because the top pin is not on the edge of the metal bracket like all other metal door pins are. I can't turn the bracket with the pin on it around to put the pin in the right place, because that would require screwing the bracket to the front of the door, where there are no screw holes. I hope the pics explain it better.I will be following up with customer support to see if we can get this worked out, at which point I will update my review.Update 7/2: I never could figure out how to contact customer support, so I used E6000 glue to attach the bracket the other way around. Still not that thrilled overall, since the screws all loosened up a bit so you have to keep tightening them, I guess. Would not buy again. came packaged well. It took about 1 hour to put together. I was disappointed that if you use a large litter pan that is all you can put in there. I could not put up the little wall if I wanted to use the big pan. guess it would do ok with a smaller pan. they do love to sit on top and look out the window.it is nice looking. I love this. It's exactly what I was looking for. All I can say in regards to some people's reviews about it being "flimsy"... if you correctly put it together it's pretty sturdy. They're not asking you to be a full-on carpenter here. All the pieces are pre-cut, labeled and there are very detailed instructions. Lol
