I bought this same (same knives/scissors etc) almost maybe or more 20 years ago?
I've had them since. They were as amazing as the stupid tv commercial said they were. I still have them. 20 years later. Never sharpened them. Never really took very good care of them (I was a young 20 years ago). Now the plastic on them, my old 20 year old knives, part of the handle, is cracking, and the handles fill up with water, and you cant get the water out. I dont think this is hygenic. They were awesome knives for 20 years. I wanted to buy a new set of the same.
Anyway, this was the closest I could find to what I already own.
I got them. They are complete garbage compared with the Ginsu knives from the 90s.
My problems with this junk.
1. The metal is half as thin. My Ginsu knives are thick. The blade is strong. These are not. The blade thin. They bend easily.
2. The serration. My Ginsu knives have a very sharp, and close serration. This cuts through almost anything. Just by sliding the blade over it with its weight. The new Ginsu have a rounded serration. It is horrible. There is no cut to these knives unless you really press down. This ruins bread/tomatoes. Etc. My old knives, even at 20 years old with no sharpening will cut your hand if you run it across them, these dont cut anything like that. They are junk.
3. These blades rust. Im not a slob, but Im not martha either. I throw my stuff in the sink overnight to soak. To clean it the next day. If you leave these in the sink overnight, they will have rust spots. Mine do. My Ginsu from the 90's I've left them in the sink and gone on vacation for 2 weeks. No rust. 20 years old, NO RUST. These knew knives are garbage.
I dont know what to say. Other than these are garbage. Dont buy them.
Kmart/Sears is going out of business. Look for an old store around you that no one ever goes to and maybe they have and old set of these knives that was made in the 80s or 90s. BUY THEM. They are worth it. The modern ones? Garbage.
