This Amazon basics platform is doing it's job well as a foundation but has a big design flaw. The edges of the vertical supporting rods have sharp edges, they should be flattened or covered with some smooth surface. I just placed my brand new mattress on this platform. With just a little movement, it ripped off my new mattress at all the sharp edges making it's warranty void. Please think of this scenario before making any purchase or place smooth cloth cloth over the platform to save your mattress. I have bought a mattress cover too. But i just placed the mattress to check if it is fitting fine on this. But in the first attempt itself, it ripped off my mattress.
This bed frame surprised me, the price being as low as it was, i was expecting something of lesser quality, however i am pleasantly surprised to how well it is holding up so far.
I purchased this to go along with my new King sized Lucid memory foam mattress in January, i am 120lbs and my boyfriend is 170lbs and we sleep with out two pitbulls 50 and 60lbs and we have had no problems whatsoever. I have not experienced any creaking and the bed doesn't slide or sit weird on the frame.
It came in a box,in time (2 day shipping), and although it was a bit heavy i was able to carry it by myself down stairs to the our bedroom in the basement. I set this up with the help of my younger brother but I honestly could have done it myself as all he did was help me pull the thing out of the box and cut some zip ties. It is pretty easy, all you do is pull it out of the box and snaps some corners together and unfold the frame and done!
If this helped you please give it a thumbs up if this review helped you, I am trying to get better at writing reviews.
It's rare that I've ever gotten to say this, but Amazon finally got something right with one of their products. After reading reviews, I was expecting short posts, misaligned holes, broken latches, etc. It literally took more time getting the package in my house and unpacked than it took to assemble the frame and get my bed back on it and made. It was as simple as unfolding four auto-locking legs and then using two bolts and two odd little spacers to secure the frame pieces together. I was even able to toss my box spring.
This is a tall bed. Even without a box spring, the top of my mattress is now above the bottom of the window I sleep next to. I suppose I could get out a measuring tape, but that would take effort. Also, ignore the thing about this only supporting sleepers up to 240 pounds. Pretty sure that should have been 2400 pounds. I am a 360 pound fat boy, and this thing doesn't squeak, move, groan, anything.
You need to be very careful when unpacking this bed frame, I have a really deep cut in my thumb when I was pulling it out of the box, there is a very sharp metal protruding exactly by the rounded corner where you grab it to pull it out from the box. This product need better quality control or else more people can get serious injuries from this. I was so mad that I wanted to post a picture of my bloody thumb but decided not to because Amazon might not post my review.
This thing started out so quiet, but fast forward 6 months later, it’s squeaking up a storm! Great.
Well constructed and easy to set up but has two issues to be aware of. There is no lip to hold mattress in place so a light mattress or one with a smooth bottom will slip, which occurred with my full size mattress. However my queen size is very heavy and has a soft bottom and stays put.
The second issue is the side legs which are inset only half an inch and those are the ones you'll kick getting into bed - I do that nightly!
To fix the legs I wrapped them in bubble wrap. I still kick them but at least it doesn't hurt.
To keep the full size mattress in place I made corner "collars" that are the size and shape of the plastic corner protectors found on standard box springs. I attached the collars to the holes in the platform bed intended for the headboard.
For 2 cents the manufacturer could include some foam tubes and snap on plastic collars and if they did they would get five stars. As it is, they get three and I get the other two.
This type of bed frame quickly became a favorite because they offer incredible value, easy movability and STORAGE SPACE!
What I Love:
— Easy to put together. The legs lock open and the two frames attach to each other with a super easy connector. No tools needed.
— Sturdy.
— Easy storage The diagonal struts on the legs angle toward the head and foot ends of the bed allowing for easy slide in/slide out of storage boxes. Standard plastic storage boxes, such as Sterilite's 58 Qt, 12.25" high storage box fits perfectly underneath. Eight of those boxes will easily fit under this frame with slide in - slide out ease.
— Inset legs. The legs are inset a few inches from the edge of the frame, so less chance of stubbing a toe. My last one had legs that were flush to the outside edges of the frame and I was forever smacking into one of them. The inset legs are not visible if using a bedskirt; the flush legs are.
— Disassembles and folds up quickly for moving or clearing a room for painting, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning. This is a great bed frame for apartment dwellers and other renters who move fairly often. Very easy to move. Much easier and more compact than a box spring.
What I Did About the One Thing I Don't Love:
— No wheels or casters come on this frame. I bought a set of those round furniture moving dots and put them under the legs to make it easier to move for cleaning, etc.
I have bought my kids several bed sets all of which they ended up breaking due to cheap materials but I have bought 3 of these so far and they have stood the test of time! I have a older son who literally throws himself on the bed as if it were a wrestling ring and this thing still hasnt broken! I love how easy it is to fold up and move too. No more taking bed frames apart, no more broken box springs or lumpy mattresses due to unbalanced support!
Works great as a guest bed frame. I can store it in a closet or the tub in the second bathroom since I only need that tub/ shower when I have guests anyway.
I put pool noodles on the ends to kept the frame from damaging the wall or bottom of tub.
The iron rods wielded inside the bed frame are thin and weak. They bend within one week of usage. One of the weldings came off eithin 5 days if usage and the iron rod came out. Its now poking the person using the cot. Hence it has become the costly cloth hanger.
The rods in between the frame are not strong enough to hold for long. Mine didn't last even for 2 days being only used by me. I was using a 5 inch thick mattress yet the rods bend and one even came off the welding joints especially at the point where your back (whole body part between neck to waist) rests. Although not sure but maybe a 10 inch mattress won't put the body load on the metal.
The bed is perfect for a short person like me. It doesn't creak at all which some people have faced. I have put 2 thick mattresses on the top so O haven't faced any difficulties of rods digging into my back. Material seems sturdy, but I don't kniw whether it will rust in the near future or not. The bed is definitely a value for money. I was searching for a foldable bed(unlike the other camp beds where you use ply on top and the material is made up of wrought iron) and I stumbled into this. The product description says that it is made up of durable steel, so hopefully it won't rust too quickly. Overall I am very much satisfied with the bed, as ot solves my purpose.
My wife and I ordered this frame to serve as our son's first "big boy" bed. The frame has no lip to keep a mattress in place. Consequently, the mattress could easily slide right off the frame, which makes it an unsafe bed for our son. Based on other reviews and ratings, we were under the impression that the frame would support a mattress. Nope.
More upsetting - although this is an "Amazon Basics" frame, sold by Amazon, it is non-returnable! So now we are stuck with a useless $110 bed frame. Oh well, at least we won't have to eat the cost of shipping to send it back, since even Amazon doesn't want it.
