The bed frame would be great but they sent one slat that was the wrong size. We already assembled the bed and called them. They would not send a replacement piece. They wanted us to unassailable the bed and ship it back. Not too easy when I am on crutches due to knee surgery. Now I have to inconvenience my husband and his dad to have them saw the piece that doesn’t fit. I used to never have problems with Amazon but I’m starting to not be a happy customer.
I was able to assemble the bed frame in about 30 minutes. The only difficulty I had was getting the four vertical screws started that lock the legs in place in the second step of construction. I found if you loosen the screws installed in the first step so there is a little play the screws start quite easily. --I thought I had a defective frame at first until I discovered this. I'm using this frame with a 14" memory foam mattress I picked up locally at one of the big membership warehouse stores. With 14" of bed frame, and 14" of mattress, my bed is a little higher than I'd like, but I love the storage underneath. One final thing to note the AmazonBasics upholstered headboard will not directly bolt up to this AmazonBasics Bed Frame. I needed to fashion an adapter plate. This is somewhat disappointing. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this purchase. Its fairly easy to assemble, seems to be sturdy, and doesn't make any noise.
I am giving this 3 stars just to highlight its problem with innerspring mattresses. This is a sturdy, easy-to-put-together bed frame, and I like the legs. It would be excellent for most mattresses. However, we discovered when we took delivery of our Beautyrest innerspring mattresses that in order for the warranty to be in effect, the spaces between the bars cannot be more than 2" ... this is more like 4" As we had already built the frames, we bought some 1/2" plywood and cut it to fit the frame to give the mattress a firm base. If you are using an innerspring mattress, I would suggest you choose a different frame - or get a box spring Also, I hadn't thought about the problem of a bedskirt sliding around on the metal.
I am shocked that it does not squeak. It is very sturdy and easy to assemble as long as you read the instructions carefully. My old bed frame would squeak every time I moved. Not this one.
This frame was fairly simple to put together. My two suggestions for assembly are 1. Don’t tighten the screws down until all are in place and 2. You will need a small hammer to get the slats in. I love the storage space underneath the bed. I got small fabric cubes to place on the side you can see and plastic storage for the other side. By the time I added a mattress and gel topper, the top of the bed is far enough off the ground that my dogs can’t jump on it. This is just what I needed.
I always start reading the 1-star reviews before making any purchase. It's good to know what the problems may be ahead of clicking that "Check-Out" button attached to your cart. I was prepared ahead of time for the tools I knew I needed ( see the photo above)...yes you are going to need these tools to assemble this frame, so go ahead and get out there and round up everything you will need. The useless wrench that is included with these is a complete waste of time, and a "knuckle-buster" ( to say the least). Yes, you are going to need a rubber mallet.
In my case, I ran into a BIG Glitch right out of the box ! (See the photos of the BENT post). Instead of dealing with sending this thing back, or waiting a few weeks for a replacement post, I just got out my trusty hammer and pounded the thing into place so it could slide into the adjoining post. I had one slight problem at the end with this malformed section when it came time to insert the screw. I loosened up the other screw and was able to make this end fit together securely.
Now to the "nuts & bolts" and the honest review of this product....it is so well designed ( an engineering marvel to behold ) and after everything is assembled it is "Extremely Sturdy" !!!! I have a heavy iSerta Hybrid Queen Mattress , and it is well supported on this frame. I did use the advise from a previous review, and I used a fitted sheet on the underside of the mattress , but it is not necessary to keep this mattress from sliding.
It took a good 2 hours to assemble ( this was due to the bent section that had to be pounded into shape )...there was nothing complicated and the instruction book was simple to follow along... ( all pictures ).
In the future, if need be, this frame will be easy-peazy to break down and fold up for moving.
I am proudly giving a FIVE STAR rating, and think this is one of the best bangs for my piddily, ever shrinking, buck.
On slide in slot was flattened I guess during the packing process but my son didnt want to send it back so he opened it with the back end of a hammer then slid the cross part in and with the help of a mallet it went in. Good thing I am single because the mattress slides around on it, I will have to look for something that will hold it still, not safe if you turn over alot. But other than this it held me and I am a heavy Plus Size woman.
Arrived well packaged with no damage. Easy to assemble. Took about 15-20 minutes. The slats do fit VERY snugly (which is good) so you do have to pound them in a bit. Very sturdy frame. Fits my queen mattress exactly. No slipping or sliding of mattress. No squeaking of the frame when I roll over.
This frame squeaks an insane amount when fooling around with your partner.
Bought this bed for my 22 year old after her IKEA bed fell apart. This bed is so much better! Easy to set up (10 minutes from when we opened the box), very sturdy and it looks just fine with the 1940’s headboard we already have. The bed does not squeak and the mattress does not slide. We are very impressed!
I am actually kind of annoyed that I didn't get this bedframe for my own bed a couple years ago when we got a new mattress. I just set this up for my son and it literally could not have been easier. It pieces were sturdy, the paint/coating didn't scrape off if I accidentally bumped the pieces together and probably took me 10 minutes to set up. The directions were super simple and easy to follow. Get this bed.
Both the frame itself and the mattress on the frame slip all over the place.
Twin mattress sits on the edges, not in them, so it's sliding around on top all the time.
Until I put some non stick pads on the legs, the frame itself would not stay in place on a wood floor.
Would be great if Amazon also sold a drawer/storage add on for the under bed storage.
We need a new bedframe, this one will support up to 350 lbs and has 2 feet of space from bed to floor for storage. This should work nicely. It is a Christmas gift so I'll update this review once it is installed. Fast delivery. Thank you
