Do you have a nephew in seminary school? A daughter who watches far too much anime to consider getting a date? A jilted girlfriend who's sworn off of men forever? Or even a romantic partner who prefers his/her bedroom activities to be as gentle as possible? Have I got a bed frame for you!
For the rest of us though, consider an alternative. Pic related.
This bed is a complete design fail! Don’t waste your time building it only to send it back.
I am a mechanically inclined person that has worked at an engineering firm for the last 12 years. So you can believe me when I tell you this bed design was a complete failure. The headboard cross bars only have one bolt each on either end which means even when they are tight the joint pivots allowing that whole end of the bed to shimmy about 2 inches back and forth while the legs/feet don’t move. Please watch the video to see what I am talking about. Basically I decided right after building this bed that it was junk and it wasn’t going to last especially for my 15 year old that we bought it for. We only used it for 2 days until another bed frame arrived.
I did contact Zinus as amazon suggested I do so when I tried to return this bed. I thought they may give me a discount toward a different designed bed frame but that didn’t happen. They basically told me to return it through amazon which is what I was trying to already do. I ended up returning this bed and ordering a different bed from zinus that was designed differently and so far we have had no issues.
I will say that we have other bed frames from this company and they are great but this twin bed frame design is a complete failure that they need to stop selling or redesign. I am not sure if the larger frame sizes are designed the same but the twin is most certainly unusable.
This product was easy to set up. But after only two months of use by one 100-pound person, it began squeaking, and I found that the center piece that supports the mattress had broken and bent. I had registered by product on the Zinus website to take advantage of the "warranty" for the bed frame, so I contacted Zinus customer service asking for a replacement part and screw (it is an 11-inch piece of metal). I have submitted two difference ticket claims, emailed them at least 8 times, even messaged them on instagram, and have not received a single response that was not the automated "we will contact you." I called the customer service number, and was told that they could not do anything and that I had to wait for the other department to respond to my emails. It has been 3 weeks, and I can't even get a reply about getting a replacement part. I am very disappointed in this product and the company who doesn't stand behind their products.
Update: 5 months in and the joints of this frame have cracked, making it unsafe to use. I'll have to put my mattress on the floor while I get a new frame. For reference I'm 200 lbs, my partner is 180lbs and we have "date night" about once a week. Not a good buy. Now a giant hassle to get rid of and replace.
Original review: Had this 4 months now. It's attractive, easy to assemble, and would be sturdy enough if all you did was sleep in it.
Bummed out on this purchase, and surprised this has so many good reviews. It simply did not do its job as a bed frame.
Easy to install and looks fine were the only two positive things I have to say about this product.
Extremely squeaky, very unstable, cheap material and broke in multiple places after a couple months normal bed use. I regret purchasing this bed and not spending a little more and buying a nicer one.
Bought the King size model and plan to have it replaced via warranty which is nice...but will not be using this bed when we get the replacement.
I purchased the queen size bed and I love it so much! I'm a female and I put this bed together by myself it was super easy and everything went smooth sailing putting it together. You really don't even need to look at the directions to put it together. I didn't run into any problems at all about parts being too short or not long enough. This bed is very sturdy and really strong. It doesn't make any noise at all when moving around in this bed. I have a 9 inch memory foam mattress and it's the perfect height for me. If I added a box spring it would be way too high. So it's really great with just my 9 inch memory foam mattress. Make sure when your putting the bed together you tighten everything as tight as you can. I'm just in love with this bed. This was a really great purchase, I am sooooo happy I bought this bed! I will be updating this review in a couple of months to let everyone know how the bed is holding up. The bed is shipped in a box with in a box. It's one long heavy box.
UPDATE: September 13, 2017
I still have this bed and it's still great!
UPDATE: April 19, 2018
I still have this bed and it's still doing good, IF I GOT A NEW BED the only reason eould be because I'm tired of this plain black metal headboard I want a tufted one.
Colour me impressed. I don't often write reviews but I felt I had to give credit where credit is due.
Pros:
Really well packed and arrived on time,
Super easy to put together so easy in fact my 2.5 year old son helped with most of it.
Instructions are really easy to follow
It comes with extra screws(this was helpful as my 2.5 year old hid one in a pocket dimension while we were working).
It comes with a little ratchet tool and an Allen key that's long enough to hold and use without poking into your hand. (If you've put together Ikea furniture you know what I mean).
Cons:
It's too easy. This bed will not test the limits of your patience and strain relationships like an Ikea bed will. If you're looking for a test to see how your spouse deals with stress and aggravation you'll have to look somewhere else.
Seems too durable, if you like to furniture shop but use the excuse it needs to be replaced because it's just not holding up. This may not be the bed for you because this bed is clearly built to last.
It was squeaky, which was very annoying, but we loved the look and sturdiness of the bed and didn’t want to return it, so we just took some thin pieces of rubber (you could probably use rubber washers) and loosened the joints enough to slide the rubber between the metal frame pieces and the squeaks are gone. I suggest the manufacturers have thin rubber already adhered so customers don’t have to do it themselves. We have the daybed twin as well and it has never squeaked.
I was so happy when I first got this bed, but then 6 months down the road and we’ve had it warrentied once already(which took 2 months to get a replacement). The thing squeaks terribly loud every time you move. The hardware backs off and needs to be constantly tightened. It’s cheap so it did in a pinch but I won’t be buying another one. Save your money for something better.
I had read some bad reviews about this slat bed--but--for me the price was right-I also purchased a 14" foam/coil spring hybrid mattress-they work very well together.
The Mattress slats have Velcro on the ends so they do not slip and two of the slats have sticky tape so the mattress does not slide.
Assembly was easy and simple--I did it alone with no problems-
I was concerned that the slates would not be strong enough as I am 6'1" and 265 pounds- but collectively and with the mattress I have a great firm bed--will get a second one for the spare room in the near future.
If you are used to inexpensive wooden bed frames, be prepared to move to the next level. The wooden ones do the job, but they are not meant to be taken apart and re assembled too often. They tend to loosen up and get sloppy. I thought I'd give a metal bed frame a go instead. This one bolts together, yet it doesn't look at all industrial and the fit of the pieces is pretty good. No weird blind nuts and threaded tubes either. Its all done with bolts. You even get a ratchet wrench with it. Yes, it has a center post, and the wooden slats are held in with Velcro; none of the "other" style with the slats held in with peg posts at the end. The slats are one piece - they go across from side to side in one length and are held in place with Velcro. I am SO tired doing hand to hand combat with 2 piece slats with the peg posts on the first slat Grrrrrr..... . So what stops the mattress from sliding off the end? Two slats have a sticky strip that the mattress sits on. Its literally held on with double sided tape. No worries. The Velcro slats and the sticky tape have the mattress locked down good.
This bed frame is SOLID. Its nothing special.... not really, but it does the job with little drama and is dead easy to put together. They even give you some extra bolts. By the way, there are no nuts. The bolts thread into the metal pieces.
This is an excellent bed frame. For what I paid and having dealt with wooden bed frames (think imported from a Scandinavian company) this is NO contest. I'd do it again in a heart beat. Inexpensive wooden bed frames? I'm done.
