They are made like crap already rusted on me
I was excited about these until I got them. I could tell by the scrappy package that I made a bad purchase. 3 out of the 6 are dented and won't sit flat on the counter so they rock back and forth. If you flip the bowl over and lightly push on the bottom, they pop. Not worth the money or time I wasted. Back they go.
I am unconvinced these are 100% stainless steel. I believe the company misrepresented the origin of manufacturer (mine was India others were china). None of the bowls have any imprint indicated what material they were made of. Every stainless stele product I have bought in stores have an imprint saying stainless steel, even ones part of a package. Highly skeptical and without knowing for sure what they are made of I cannot recommend this product to anyone and I won't use them myself, especially for food consumption!
I don't understand all the positive reviews here, unless people just have never seen decent stainless bowls before. With only a light touch these bowls flex and the bottoms pop in and out easily. These aren't sturdy enough to stand up to real cooking. As soon as I pulled them out of the box I initiated a return. I guess for the price you get a lot of bowls, but if you like things that last look elsewhere.
Upon opening the box, I notice 2 of the 6 bowls had arrived with a significant dent at the base of each bowl. It has to be noted the package was intact. Subsequently, I believe this had to have happened prior to shipping during the manufacturing process. Anyway, I returned the bowls to Amazon.
Initially I was contemplating giving it away as a Christmas gift, but decided to try it out first and buy a second set if it met my satisfaction. Imagine keeping the box closed for that long and then opening during the holidays. This is a lesson I learned a long time ago of what not to do... Inspect. Inspect. Inspect.
This is the second time I've tried to post this review--
I just received the shipment and examined the bowls-- 5 out of 6 were in good condition but one was scuffed and banged up so much that I'm surprised it passed evaluation and was shipped out.
For the price, I suppose this is acceptable, but it makes me feel negatively about the whole experience and dampens my enthusiasm for the remaining 5 bowls.
To be clear, these are not stains that can be wiped off. They're either scrapes which have cut through the shiny finish, or bumps and impurities in the metal underneath the finish.
These are gorgeous! Photo does not do them justice. Not the least bit flimsy, and they sit very steadily. I really like the substantial lip on the rim. These will make perfect gifts too. Came carefully packed, and not a single ding. My only minor quibble, is it would be nice if the quart size was stamped on the bottom of the bowl. Unless it is, and my rapidly fading eyesight just can't catch it. However the size is easy enough to estimate, so it really is not an issue. And no I did NOT get these at ANY sort of discount! Are other people as sick of seeing those sorts of reviews as I am?
Nice size bowls! The largest one is incredibly huge!! So far, I have only used it to mix 2 lbs of baked macaroni and cheese, with 6 cheeses and it doesn't even get close to filling the bowl. I will also use it when I make cornbread dressing because I have to make 3 different versions, 1 of each for myself, my husband and our son, so it will come in handy when mixing the main ingredients.
I have only had it for a week or so and there are already “blemishes” (see photo) on my favorite size bowl. That's a bit disappointing but it's not a deal breaker.
4.5 stars
Truly not impressed by the quality of this set... At the very first use, the surface of the metal started to peel, leaving black chips and rust spots. (Pictures and video in attachment) We were washing some cauliflowers and brocolis with water and a little bit of salt when we noticed that the salt in the bottom of the bowl starting to change into a yellowish color. I'm immediately returning this set.
Although it's made of stainless steel, my set of bowls started to get stained. They are also rather thin, which is not a problem for me, but I can see it being a problem for some people.
The "5 Quart" largest bowl in the set holds around 2.5 Quarts. They are shallower than they appear in the photos. Construction ok.
Absolutely amazing to work with this. I make medicine and it’s so easy to clean and to dry, no stains no scratch due to the mixing materials, obviously I use spatulas to mix but sometimes grainy things can scratch the bowls, not these one though.
EDIT: The seller initiated an exchange of messages after my initial review (which I'll leave below) and worked hard to come to a conclusion that was satisfying to me as a customer. It's not a given in this day and age to have a company with such an active take on customer service, and I do have to say that one rarely feels as respected as a customer as I did in this instance. So my recommendation is: Order the product, see if it fits your purpose, and if not, they do have a phenomenal customer service that is more than willing to work with you. I've gotta say; I'm surprised by the experience, and in the end I got what I needed. It's my understanding that the original set I received (which the review below refers to) had a defect, and I've since received replacements. However, I feel it's only fair to leave the original review in too, for whatever it's worth. Just know this: The customer service is great.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The set, in regard to container sizes, is good. The shapes of the bowls are great. However, it has a huge problem: the build quality is flimsy and not good enough at all, when it comes to the higher sized bowls. The smaller ones, however, are excellent. As one commenter had previously mentioned, the bottoms of the bigger bowls keep “punching” in and out like a very thin film, and with a horrible, annoying sound as well that somewhat resembles a bad quality crash symbal in a drum set. You can’t use the bigger bowls without constantly triggering the thin bottom to pop in or out and you’ll end up not using them because it’s just intolerable, truly.
I’d return it but I can’t stand the thought of spending any more of earth’s resources to ship the lot back and forth, I’ll just use the smaller bowls (they seem sturdy) and put the bigger ones to thrift shop, maybe someone else can find them tolerable.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this set, only 75% of the bowls feel sturdy enough for use, and those are the small ones that one generally uses less frequently. Buy something useful and lasting instead, don’t pinch the pennies in this area like I did...
