I already had a lemon zester and was reluctant to buy another, thinking-------wasteful on so many levels. But then I thought you are 73 years old, not so much time any longer to be wasteful, so treat yourself.... So I did, it is a much better tool. You need less pressure and it produces a larger quantity. Buy it..........

I was amazed and impressed by what a great tool this grater is! I didn't expect it to be this good. I've been using a box grater for lemon zest and grated cheese before I got the Deiss PRO grater and I always found the box grater to be awkward to work with. The Deiss grater is easy to work with and very easy to clean. The curved surface makes it easy to concentrate the grated material into a bowl beneath it.

I got an unexpected bonus with the Deiss grater. I've always had a problem with having to buy more ginger than I needed for one meal project. I solved that problem by cutting the ginger roots into tablespoon-size pieces, peeling and freezing the leftover ginger but when I needed to use the ginger again, grating a chunk of thawed ginger was very messy. I solved that problem by just grating the frozen ginger straight from the freezer. The Deiss PRO cuts through the frozen ginger like butter! That was stunning! This grater is one of the best kitchen tools I've bought in a long time!
Oh my gosh. I never thought I’d have such intense feelings for a lemon zester. This thing is AMAZING. don’t bother looking at the other zesters just get this one. It’s so nice that it has a sheath to cover it. And oh my gosh this thing works so well. It showed that lemon who’s boss. I’m not even kidding. I zested a lemon with a regular small holed cheese grater yesterday before this came and then today I used this one and the zest from the regular cheese grader was like 2 table spoons but with this zester it was like at least a cup. It’s so easy to use and the handle has a nice grip to it. Not to heavy or too light. Never thought I’d be so passionate about a kitchen tool.
I've often heard it said that it helps to have the right tool for the job. And a good tool as well. This zester/grater proves this. I have always groaned when having to zest for a recipe. The zester I had for years was a royal pain to use. I have only used the Deiss PRO once so far, and it was such a pleasure. Easy to use, easy to clean. This is a professional tool. I can't wait to make a lemon cake! I also appreciated receiving a thank you from the company for my order, along with suggestions on how to get the best results. I appreciate such excellent customer service. Thank you.
Best-ever ginger grater. But *beware*. This thing is surgically sharp. It is so sharp that ginger grates like butter. When using it for zesting citrus, you must hover the citrus over the grater. If you make normal contact, you're down to the pith in one swipe. For citrus you really have to concentrate to keep a light hand. It's a bit nerve-wracking if you're used to a "normal" grater. Honestly, this thing is amazing. But be *very* careful. Not to be used by children who may be helping in the kitchen -- you'll end up in the emergency room.
We have been using a traditional grater for decades to zest citrus fruits. Our son convinced us to invest in this zester. Wow! No comparison. This thing works like magic and we get more zest than we ever thought possible. (Time for Key Lime Pie) The wooden handle is top shelf! Easy to hold, easy to use. Deiss makes quality products. Highly recommend.
I like the quality of this zester/cheese grater. It has a nice grip, making it easy to handle. There is a small rubber cylinder around the bottom frame, that helps to keep the grater from slipping while resting on a surface. The grater itself it stainless steele and comes with a protective plastic cover that slides over the grater for clean, safe storage. I haven't had it long, but it seems sturdy and constructed to last.
The zester has worked well for me. It quickly produces lime zest, quickly processed a block of parmesan and made fantastic minced garlic. I was initially concerned with the length but it greatly adds to the speed and ease of use. Clean-up is easy with a quick rinse and wipe down with a sponge (don't run the wrong way unless you want sponge zest).
This is a cracking grater and I wish I’d bought one sooner. My daughter and husband do all of the cooking and they both say this is ideal for grating smaller things and also Parmesan. It’s very sharp but being slimmer it means they’re less likely to grate themselves by mistake. There’s been a lot less screaming since I got them this. You do still need to take some care though! Highly recommend this grater.
Was really happy with it until shortly after buying the spot welding gave out on one side with light use. Not strong enough for purpose at all. Sad. Great in all other respects.
I'm not sure how well this works for zesting lemons or chocolate but this is a nightmare to use for grating parmesan. Because of the angular design of the blades it forces any downwards motion on the grater to the side almost immediately, numerous times I've cut myself trying to grate cheese on this. Absolute waste of money.
I like this well enough. I just wish it was a little smaller for ease of use. Works well though.
Easy to use and clean and very effective with minimal effort. Added tips from seller welcomed.
