I regretted almost immediately buying this. the center posts were slightly higher than the posts on the outside. so it was a little wobbly, but hey, I can make do. One year and two girlfriends later... Well, the thing was shaky with the first girlfriend. The second girlfriend took it to another level. Last night, 'activities' were had, and the foot board sheered completely off from the rest of the bed. Afterwards, we were forced to sleep on an incline for the night. This bed, a lot like my ex-girlfriend, looks nice, but will probably let you down in the end.

I have ordered 15 zinus beds and mattresses in this year alone, including three of this bed. Their products are great for the price.
I am extremely disappointed in the last one that I received. It had a manufacturing defect in one of the headboard vertical poles - the 2-3 piece. I understand that this happens in manufacturing occasionally - what I am annoyed with is Zinus's response - or rather, lack there of. I called, left a voice mail, emailed, and left a question on Amazon. NO RESPONSE. I will be spending extra money and time to "make it work" by drilling new holes, purchasing nuts and bolts, and the bed wont be assembled 100% correctly.
Yes, I realize I could ship the entire bed (now half way assembled) back to Amazon for a new one. Who has time and energy for that? Just overnight me the one replacement piece, Zinus! Or how about a credit towards the next purchase if I decide to keep purchasing your products after this?
PS - I am a professional furnishes a lot of houses.
PPS - I will consider revising this review if and when I ever hear from Zinus.

Edit: I originally had high hopes for this product. The reviews were good, and it felt very high quality when I first put it together. But I do think you get what you pay for. Within a month this bed started to squeak and sway some with getting in and out of bed (not to mention "adult activities"). I started to note that the legs underneath were shifting at and angle, and were no longer straight up and down. The screws that hold the legs on do not give it enough support, and by 3 months this bed was unusable. It would shift A LOT with any movement. My husband and I are not large people, and even we felt unsafe on this bed after some time. No matter how cheap this bed is, dont waste your money!

Original Review (1 day after assembly): So far so good. This bed feels super solid and quality for the price. The head and foot boards are solid and heavy, and its not squeaky. Also was fairly easy to put together. Took about 30min and the step by step instructions are super simple.

Broke after a week. The steel beam shore off at the bolts. Took a look at it and it looks like the area was warped from the factory.

Amazon says I have to ship it back, which is insane because it's a hundred pounds of steel and wood.

edit 4/19/2019: Emailed Zinus twice to no avail. Brought Zinus' complete lack of customer service to Amazon's attention and they issued me a full refund without having to ship it back.

Thank you, Amazon. Everyone else, be wary of Zinus' warranty. In my experience they absolutely do not stand behind it.

UPDATE 03/25/2018: It's been almost a year and the frame is still going strong. No warping of the legs or anything like that. The only issue I've had was a bolt that backed out and caused some creaking until I tightened it. By the way, the shipping time I mention in my review below doesn't apply anymore since the item's now on Prime.

I'm very happy with this purchase. The setup was easy. Everything is labeled with a number and all you do is match the numbers to each other. Assembly uses a hex key (included). The wood slats are connected to each other by a Velcro strip which adhere to the rails so I just had to roll them out to put them in place. There's also a tacky strip on the top of two of the slats to hold the mattress in place. Speaking of which, my mattress was a tight fit (Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea 12"). Outside of kicking it repeatedly I can't imagine anything shifting it out of place.
The construction is solid. I haven't heard a single noise or creak out of it. I did notice one tiny imperfection in a piece of metal while assembling, might have been a paint blemish, but honestly I have no idea where it is now so it's not a concern to me.
For those wondering how tall a mattress it'll take without being taller than the footboard, I have a 12" tall mattress and it sits about 2" from being even with the wooden part of the footboard.
Plan accordingly if you're buying a mattress at the same time. It does take longer than normal to receive this item, hence the "usually ships within 3-5 days" note on the page. I ordered 3/18 and it arrived 3/29.

I am not a frequent reviewer, but this bed deserves the rave review! I am so hesitant to buy things on amazon (or anywhere else online) that are difficult to return, but I took a chance on this bed and I am so glad I did. It is gorgeous- such a statement piece. It was quick and easy for my husband to assemble- nothing screwy like uneven holes where you have to drill your own to make it fit (actually has happened to us before). It looks so good in our guest room. This is a somewhat rare case of an item looking just as good in person as it does in the advertising. I would highly recommend!

This bed frame has exceeded my expectations. It was packaged very nicely and was easy to transport. I was able to put it together in about 45 minutes. It is the most sturdy bed frame I have ever owned and does not make noise (I'm 250 lbs). The design was even cuter than the profile picture on Amazon when I fit it into my space. I could not be more happy with my purchase. Great value too!!!

Incredibly attractive and sturdy and so easy to construct I had my cat Count Whiskerton III put it together. He did a passable job for a fur person with no opposable thumbs but the bolt tightening left a lot to be desired. I should have learned as much from the children's swing set fiasco of 2017. Suffice to say I will not be placing my monthly Fancy Feast order this week. That aside, great frame. My dreams have improved four-fold since it arrived. Call it a coincidence or just plain old science.

I want to say that for the price, this frame is awesome, but why qualify it? So far, this thing is just awesome! We just upgraded to a new Bloom queen mattress and wanted a new frame that wasn’t overpriced for the quality (IKEA) or way too expensive for something that’ll last. We’re new parents of twins, so our sleep is sacred, but frugalness is also key. The directions were easy even though mine included numbers and letters when the pieces themselves only had the numbers, but no big deal. This took me 45 minutes to put together by myself while the hubby watched the girls (just had him come behind to tighten everything) and all with an Allen key! They include a ratchet which is a super nice touch, but I didn’t need it, so will use for some other DIY project. I can’t yet speak to the durability since we’re only 7 days in, but I don’t hear a peep when I roll over and the bed feels sturdy/strong. It came quickly and was boxed great with as little filler as possible (although you guys may want to start using recyclables in there as opposed to styrofoam moving forward;). Finally, my room looks like an adult couple with kids live here now vs. overgrown post-college kids who’re in denial about the being adult parents thing. I think coupled with the new mattress, we’ll get great use out of this frame. We plan to use daily. Will update after a few months of usage.

I seriously love every Zinus purchase I’ve made so far. Everything is nicely packaged, well made, sturdy, fast delivery, easy to set up, and you just can’t beat the price. This Zinus Sonoma Metal & Wood Platform bed is no different.

I love the ample room under the platform style beds. So much storage (or hide and seek!) space.

The only thing I would change about this bed is I would make the headboard a few inches wider than the frame on either side, just a style preference. Otherwise, it’s fantastic.

It went together very quickly. It also came with extra bolts and surprisingly included the tools required to assemble it. One was a really neat Mini Ratchet as a great keeper and the other was a basic Allen Key. This is a very sturdy frame so don't be mislead by the minimalism of design. The slats are all pre-spaced and attached to a Velcro ribbon so they go in pace in a couple minutes. The mattress stays in place due the surface friction on the slats and mainly due to the sticky tape strips that are located in two places on the slats. Great frame and would definitely recommend if looking for something that is modern, clean design and easy assembly but at the same time sturdy. CHECK!
