I'm a bit torn about this rating...pun intended. I purchased two of these 87" long Ultimate covers in September 2016 to protect some deck furniture so we wouldn't need to bring the cushions in every time it rains. They claim "100% waterproof and fade-resistant" so I was hoping opting for the "ultimate" version would serve my needs. It turns out they are absolutely waterproof but definitely not fade resistant. After a full winter and spring I pulled the covers hoping that everything would be in good condition and sure enough there was no sign of water or dirt from over 6 months of weather. The mocha color had faded badly though. Honestly, I don't really care about the fading but if you are going to advertise "fade-resistant" then you should back that up. The reason for the 3-star rating though is that the material apparently became dry rotted and prone to ripping easily. At one point this summer when putting the cover back on the corner ripped a 10-12" tear even though I was being careful not to yank on it. I'm contacting their customer service and requesting replacements and will report back with the result. They have a 2-yr warranty so I expect this should be covered without hassle. So bottom line, the covers work great (5 stars), fade more than I would have expected (4 stars), and potentially become prone to ripping over time (3 starts). I'll remember to be particularly careful in the future but IMO I shouldn't have to treat weatherproof outdoor furniture covers like they are made out of parchment paper to avoid ripping.
I purchased these Duck Covers 'Ultimate' Covers to protect my new Better Homes and Garden Patio furniture (Hawthorne Park 4pc Sofa Conversation Set). The covers fit the furniture extremely well, and should protect the chairs and sofa from our strong Florida sun, rainy summers and the nasty pollen we get in the early spring. The covers are very easy to put on and remove. The sofa bench is perfect for storing the covers while we use the furniture.
For reference, here are the dimensions for my furniture in the event you have similar sized furniture.
3-Person Sofa: 35.21in.D x 80in.W x 32in.H
Chair: 5.21in.D x 32in.W x 32in.H
I hope you found the review helpful in making your purchase decision.
Thankfully they are under warranty. It will be two years in August. After a year they faded significantly, you can see the color difference in the photos. After this past winter we took them off to clean the sofa and put the cushions back on...when we lifted the covers off they tore. You can see in the picture, that a big chunk just came off. The second cover tore as well, but it was a straight slit-tear, and not at the seam either.
I have submitted a warranty claim for both covers, and I will update my review depending on the response from the company.
I will also note, we live in a moderate climate. We do not get snow, ice, or freezing temps. We barely get rain and while we do have sun, we have considerable fog...I'd be worried what these covers would do with extreme weather conditions.
UPDATE: They did honor their warranty and sent us 2 new covers. I will say that one of those replaced through the warranty has already torn in the same manner. I haven't found anything better, so we will just keep replacing them.
Very impressed with this cover!! I spent last year chasing a light weigh plastic one around every time the wind blew and it ripped in many places by the end of the season...useless. I researched Amazon and found the Duck cover, which is about $50-100 cheaper than what I found in my local stores.I think this product is fantastic no would by again if this one ever wears out!!
-For me this cover was totally rain proof and wind proof
-The rain beeds up and it drys quick for storage
-heavy duty construction and material - it's flexible and easy to get your outdoor furniture covered
-really stylish and good looking- I have the tan/brown colors
-There are four straps to attach to the legs of my wicker couch - even if I didn't attach them this cover stayed on the couch in all the heavy storms we've had lately
-great value for the price
Bought two other covers. The first one was definitely not as described and did not have the tie down features described. It went back. Bought a different brand. Oh my gosh. It was as thin as a plastic grocery bag. Installed it one evening and only had a slight breeze that night - not enough to even extend the neighbours flag. The next morning the cover was torn. Back it went. Out of desperation I order the Duck cover even though it was $10 more than the competitor. Quality was so much better than I expected, it had all the tie down features, and it fit my furniture like a glove.
So impressed that I ordered two more for my other love seat and a chair. Delivery was fast. You get a card where you register the covers for a warranty. They even have a "serial number" on the cover. Very impressive. Highly reccommend these covers.
I've purchased a similar cover for my square table/chairs so I was confident about the quality of these covers. It handled the Canadian winter weather well for the past 2 seasons. I have four patio charis so instead of purchasing four patio chair covers, I purchased 2 loveseat covers and put the patio seats side by side. I picked a cover big enough to cover both patio chairs and they work perfectly!
We ordered the matching couch cover to the ones we purchased for the chairs and the build quality is the same - excellent. If I had one comment to make, order the exact size you need as these have a little extra in them. They say this fits a 77" couch, wrong... It'll probably fit an 80" couch easily. The chairs covers were the same with a little extra also. Haven't noticed any rain through them but they do sit inside the gazebo with no sides. They do get rained on though, even where they are, but i do think they'll keep everything dry no matter where they were placed. I just wish they had the right size for the ottomans and table though, hint, hint, if you're reading because I'd buy them too.
Very good quality, substantial patio furniture cover. All leg ties have snap-in buckles to secure the tags. Toggle cord helps secure bottom from being lifted by the wind. I live in a VERY windy area and the covers are remaining very secure even on the windiest days.. I bought the loveseat and two chair covers and really happy I did. Much better quality than any previous covers I've had. I would like to be able to buy coffee and end table covers of the same quality but Duck does appear to make them in the Ultimate category.
We've had a few days of rain and these Duck Covers work! We have 2 deep-seat loveseats and 4 deep-seat chairs under our gazebo, so I bought 4 loveseat covers and they are perfect. Super easy to put on and just as easy to take off. We store the
covers in a little bench seat next to the gazebo, so it's really easy to access them. I saw others at the store and they don't compare to the quality and thickness of Duck Covers. Well worth the money to protect my new cushions and pillows!
