This is an attractive looking bed and a good height for saving space in a small room and yet not being too tall/close to the ceiling. It’s great for young kids, my 6 year old loves it! There is space underneath behind the dressers where he has placed a caterpillow and arm pillow to lounge out on. I am pleased with the purchase, it was easy to assemble, we used a drill though so one of the legs on the dresser cracked, I think it would have even if we had just used the Allen wrench. But it isn’t noticeable and I will get a bracket to put on the crack to stop it from spreading.
Very disappointed with the purchase. The description does not match the reality. That is not a solid pine wood bed, it is a composition wood. Rails, steps do not look sturdy and as solid as our other solid wood bunk bed. But it is not the worse part, this bed was made with wood veneers glued together. One of the glue component is formaldehyde. That chemical has very strong smell. You can see a caution sign on the bed about formaldehyde. That note have to be added to the product description. After we unpacked bed parts, the strong and heavy chemical odor was everywhere in our house for almost a week. I can associate that odor with formaldehyde only. I could not find any information on the manufacture site about furniture safety certifications and if furniture have been tested on the level of formaldehyde. I am going to test if formaldehyde level of that furniture is save for kids. Will provide updates soon.
Purchased this as a transitional bed for my 6 yo. Upon opening for inspection, saw that paint has bubbles in front drawers and railing, so no way to hide. Paint has also dry drips in the front, creating multiple bumps that are visible. Hubby began putting together drawers, and one has no pre-drilled holes at all, another has the holes pre-drilled half-way, causing the wood to crack at the front, hence the drawer is ruined. The worst part, the smell, and the warning stickers that warn against the formaldehyde used in the materials. So now I have a toxic bed for my child, ugh. Nowhere in the description does it state this. We left on vacation and placed all pieces in the middle of the living room to air out. Back one week later and it still stinks. I am hoping the seller at least can replace two of the drawer fronts so we can make it look decent. Will be getting rid of this poorly made bed in a year and I will never skimp on furniture for my child again!
I shopped around for a while before deciding to buy this loft bed for my son. I wanted to be sure it was the right choice because I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of a return if it wasn’t as described.
Bottom line, we could not be happier with this product. It arrived professionally packed and without any damage. It was a bit of a hassle to figure out how to open the boxes, which sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. If you carefully use a box cutter and open it from the skinny/narrow end that works best.
It did take a long time to assemble - probably 4-5 hours total - but the materials were nicely packed and labeled, and the instructions were easy to follow. They provide a hex wrench for the screws, but if you have a power drill I’d suggest that to speed up the process. (Note: the instructions say not to use power tools, but using a screwdriver and hex wrench to install 600 screws would take ages.)
The quality of the product is fantastic - sturdy and modern looking. I love the dark gray and think it could work well for a boy or girl.
There is plenty of room underneath the bed for storage, even with the bookshelf and dresser in place (which by the way are freestanding from the bed frame itself and can be positioned anyway you like). We were able to fit several large Tupperware containers underneath.
Despite the long assembly process, I would highly recommend. The final product is worth it.
The dresser smelled SO strong for a few months (Like a strong paint/lacquer)- it finally faded and you can’t smell it anymore but it took awhile.
When putting the ladder together- the bottom step won’t screw in all the way (see picture) it always pulls out like this but it’s still useable.
The bed is pretty sturdy but not great. The whole thing moves easily even when child is getting on and off. (Which for reference my less than 30lb 3year old is who sleeps on it).
Also, on the bed- the wood is splitting where it connects to the headboard and footboard (see picture). It didn’t do this til probably 8months of use or so.
I love the look but wish it was better quality. Not worth what we paid in my opinion. We’ve had this for almost a year now. I would NOT re-purchase this. When my sister was looking at getting a low loft bed for one of her kids, I told her not to get this one.
We are extremely happy with this purchase. I only ordered from Amazon because we waited over a month for another discount site to ship and after they moved shipping date out for a fifth time I canceled and ordered from here. I am glad I did! We have had the bed for about two months now and have had no issues with it. It arrived on time and was packaged very well. Nothing was damaged or missing. My husband and I assembled it over the course of a day and did not experience any major problems with assembly. We did opt to use a power drill for some of it but almost stripped one of the screws and so did a lot of it by hand as well. If you've ever assembled furniture before, this is no different. Having two people made the process much easier and I would think assembling the bed frame would be very difficult alone. Anyway, I find the bed to be very sturdy and the dresser and bookcase are very nice also. I think for the cost you really can't beat it. I like how it is modular so you can move the items around if you like, as the bookcase and dresser are not attached to the bed frame. I love having storage underneath and how much extra space my daughter has in her room now. She loves to go underneath and plays there in her "fort". Very happy with this purchase!
