I'm a little bit of a snob about furniture. I want solid wood whenever possible, but at the end of the day I wasn't willing to spend $3,000 on a bed for a six-year-old. I researched as much as I could and read tons of reviews on this bed. At the end of the day I decided that $500 was a reasonable investment for me to take a chance.
I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of this bed. We've only been in it 3 weeks so that could change over time, but it seems to be a very sturdy and well-made bed. The important parts are solid wood, the rest of it is MDF but overall, if you know what you're doing when you put it together, you're going to have a very sturdy product.
Each component took roughly an hour to assemble. My husband and I assembled the bed together and I did the other three components by myself. I didn't have any problems with holes not lining up or pieces missing or damaged. Everything looked great and went together with relative ease.
We were able to get rid of a dresser, a bookcase, a toy bin, and a bed and replace it with just this one piece of furniture with a bonus desk and a nice little area for her to play underneath. I strung up some lights and put a dollhouse under there and she is very happy!
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
I read all the reviews, good and bad. Looked at all kinds to see what I wanted and in the end this was going to be the best one for my 8yr old. Got it and didn't tell our son. Took him out for couple hours while his dad built it. He was so excited to see it and loves it!! It's perfect! He loves the bed, book shelf, and computer desk which he now has a computer on. Like any bunk bed it's kind of hard to make and this one I won't go on as I'm to heavy so he has to do it. All in all a great bed.
I’m starting this review by saying half my house is furnished from a certain Swedish big box store so I’m not picky about furniture. However, this product is awful and unsafe. Predrilled holes in the wrong spots and wood is flexible. The slats on the bed to hold the mattress are attached to each other with thin strip of fabric stapled to slats to connect them to each other like rail road tracks. They are not attached to the bed and the slats bend with any weight on it. Bed was creaking with the weight of a 4yo and safety rails bow with the slightest amount of weight. It’s extremely soft wood to the point where it’s unsafe. If you are going to buy it and give it a try at least avoid OJCommerce. Their return policy is awful (sellers pays shipping and 20% restocking fee even if defective and unsafe).
I spent months researching which big girl bed I wanted to get my five-year-old. I kept coming back to this one, but some concerns I had made me hesitate. First, I was a bit worried about the ladder. My daughter is not an adept climber. But now that’s it’s here and built, I realize that I was concerned for nothing. She gets up and down just fine. It’s a low loft. The height is perfect. Standing up, I can lean in and kiss my daughter goodnight with no problem and I’m only 5’4.” I also don’t need to worry about her safety if she has to get down in the dark to pee in the middle of the night.
My second concern was that the description here on Amazon has the bed listed as “cappuccino/zebra” while the photo shows a white bed. I wanted the white, and the reviews weren’t giving me a solid answer on whether or not I would receive the bed in the description or the one in the photo. I rolled the dice, ordered the “cappuccino/zebra,” and thankfully, a white bed arrived! Hooray!
My daughter LOVES this bed, so much that the past few nights, she’s asked to go to sleep at 6PM and actually did, never once coming out of her room.
Overall, It took my husband and son about 5 hours to put together. No problems arose. All parts were there. No nicks or damage. Paint job is beautiful. So far, the bed is sturdy and exactly as described. I moved the dresser across the room to make a little fort underneath. We put up Christmas lights and my daughter is in heaven. It’s her new favorite place to hang out. If I had this bed when I was little kid, my parents would’ve had to drag me out from under it. It really is cool and surprisingly spacious. I was able to sit up comfortably underneath. The dresser is small but the drawers are roomy and held the same amount of clothing that her previous did, and it was twice the size on the outside. The desk itself is sturdy but does move too much on its wheels since it’s meant to slide in and out. My husband is going to just anchor it in place, an easy fix. I’m so glad I decided on this bed. I just adore it and wholehearted recommend.
I think having reasonable expectations goes a long way when you’re buying items that have to be assembled, and you know aren’t solid wood. That being said, this item exceeded my expectations.
The drawer, table, and bookcase were the cheaper composite wood I expected with a veneer finish. The drawers instructions were by far the hardest to follow. All other instructions were very clear and easy to follow.
The loft bed was made of solid pine, and feels very very sturdy. It’s the perfect height and still allows me to tuck my daughter in at night. The directions were so easy, and took two people exactly one hour to put together.
I love that the loft, table, drawers, and bookcase came in separate boxes and were labeled 1 of 4 etc.
Unfortunately, box 4 of 4 got lost in the Black Friday and holiday madness, but this seller was EXTREMELY quick to make things right. I didn’t have to plead my case, I just stated what was wrong and they shipped out its replacement quicker than I anticipated.
