If anything touches raw meat I always wash it and put it in the dishwasher, if it’s said to be dishwasher safe. Apparently these were not, even though they said they were because they already started to rust and I’ve had them for about a week
The KitchenAid scissors is replacing my original (no brand name) one from my knife set. After 12 years of use, the blades are dull and bind when cutting through meat. The KitchenAid was chosen as they are about the same blade length as my original, but the handles are a tad larger. Not an issue for me but the wife finds them not as ergonomic as the old pair. They are indeed sharp and great for cutting raw veggies, meat, and anything else in the kitchen, think plastic meat wrapping to cutting through corn on the cob. For the price and functionality, this is a must have in any kitchen. The only complaint I have is that I wish the handle plastic extended to cover the outside edges of the metal blade so that it wouldn’t scratch your non-stick cookware or delegate dinnerware when cutting things. It may seem unlikely, but it happens.
I was a little leery about ordering these kitchen shears at first. I had a different pair that didn’t work out so well. When these arrived, they were bigger than I expected. However, I just finished using them to dice a 48 ounce bag of dried apricots to add to my oatmeal and OMG, these shears worked sooo well! I went through the apricots quickly and easily. So much better than using a knife! Like other reviewers, I, too, have slight arthritis and carpal tunnel in both hands. The larger openings in the handles made it easy to manipulate the shears with very little pain. The blades were easy to clean, and I love the shield that came with it. Thank you KitchenAid! I can’t wait to try these kitchen shears on other foods!
These are the best Kitchen Shears I've ever had. I just ordered two more for myself since my pair is now in the camping equipment for keeps. I also bought a pair for my bf, who's kitchen shears suck and won't cut paper, let alone chicken bones or plastic packaging.
They cut through anything, seriously, and last a good long time. I've had a pair for 4 years, use them at least a couple of times per week, and they still look and cut like brand new. They also go in the dishwasher, I put them in the silverware rack on the bottom shelf.
Great Product.
My husband has bent so many kitchen tools, which is why I had to buy new scissors. He’s banned from these because they’re so nice, but I doubt he could do much damage. They’re very sturdy, comfortable to hold, and seem ambidextrous (hubs is a lefty). Definitely my favorite kitchen shears that I’ve owned
They are comfortable to hold, esp. for large hands. (finger openings are large enough for bigger hands) The rubber handles have so far, handled the dishwasher fine. The pair we have, cuts well and smoothly. I thought about any negatives, I just don't feel anything was really much to complain about. So far they've been fine. To each his own of course, but if asked I'd say, based on this pair, I'd recommend them for larger hands for sure, but they are comfortable and easy to hold for my wife's much smaller hands. They are definitely sharp and easy to cut with.
This is an excellent scissor but it is not a 5. This is a has a certain lightness to it. I ordered three scissors at the same time a KitchenAid a Newness and another highly rated scissor. The Newness has a heaviness durability and precision cut that sets it in a class by itself and Newness is a 5 scissor. KitchenAid is a great basic scissor but the difference is I guess between a great Farberware pot and an All-Clad pot which is simply in a different and higher class. A 5 goes to Best in Class, KitchenAid is great but definitely not Best in Class so far the Newness is the best scissor I found or shear or whatever you call it. KitchenAid is a well-designed precision lightweight scissor. If you want a heavyweight Scissor that can be passed to your grandchildren get a Newness.
I've been trying to sharpen my old scissors for some time now. I tried all the tricks I was told, even buying sand paper and cutting it up to sharpen them. They still didn't cut very well, I was thinking it was maybe the material I was trying to cut. So I bought these with just a hope. They did not disappoint. They cut through those mail envelopes that they make clothes out of, the type of material that you can't tear. They cut it no problem, Then you have the type of envelopes that they send drugs in, plastic with the air bubbles on the inside of the plastic, again, like a hot knife through butter. Another issue I had was the seal a meal bags, these cut those just as well. I haven't had anything come up that these would not cut. Very pleased with my purchase.
This is what was looking for. It is big sturdy scissors. I use it to chop cilantro...works fine.
