I have upgraded my living room and my old TV stand of over ten years no longer matched. After hanging my tv on the wall I wanted something sleeker and space saving. This was perfect I got the 72 in Columbia’s Walnut and it matches perfectly. There are very few pieces to putting this together but it is very sturdy and two people is recommended. I couldn’t be happier it really pulls everything together nicely. And for reference my tv is 65in.
It's a beautiful counter that had more potential. I hate how the inside is black instead of the same wood. However my biggest pet peeve is the location of the hole where the cords go through. Obvious it wasnt planned out right being that it would've been smarter to keep it towards the back so the cords can be more flush and hidden if you use a cord panel of some sort instead of having it look ugly and stick out a bit. Also the hole isn't even that big EITHER.. not very well done. Otherwise just good overall but could've been better.
I was shocked on how heavy this shelf was but I managed to install it by myself without my husband. I’m not that strong but I sat it on a stool that was the perfect height, placed it against the wall, leveled it and it actually made it very easy to install. I did however have difficulty screwing the screws they provided that go into the stud. Even my husband couldn’t get it back in and striped one of the screws. So I went to Home Depot and got proper screws and that did the trick. The instructions are very good and putting it together is the easy part. Overall I am very happy with the look & style, it’s solid and decent quality for the price and perfect for my workout room.
I recently assembled the unit and it was a bit of a hassle. The material is heavy particle board and the pilot holes are not sufficiently deep enough to screw the wall brackets without difficulty. I ended up stripping one of the heads of the screws halfway through the tightening process on the first set and using a hack saw to lop off the top of the screw that I couldn't get flush to the unit. After I re-drilled the holes, I didn't have any trouble with the second set. They do not provide any spare hardware pieces - so take care not to lose or break any of them. They also didn't drill out enough room for plastic barrel nuts - if you don't align the holes correctly, you will never get them out of the unit nor be able to twist them to center on the opening to receive the long metal wood screws that hold the top and bottom shelves together. The entire console is very heavy. I haven't mounted it to the wall yet - but you definitely need to ensure you mount the wall bracket to the internal wood wall studs - dead center, or the thing will not stay on the wall. Challenging project for a novice in assembly and wall mounting.
While I thought this would be the best solution for my A/V gear storage I find that the shelf is much too shallow to hold my Onkyo A/V receiver. The shelf is 11.8" deep from the front to the wall while the Receiver is 14". This would work if you didn't have to plug anything into the back of the unit. Obviously you do. Which pushed the receiver just far enough forward to be precariously perched on the very edge of the shelf. Having my Onkyo receiver protruding over the precipice just wont do. So if you purchase this to put a nice vase or a very small cable box on, in addition to your center speaker then you will have no problem. I can not recommend this for any A/V gear deeper than 10".
Edit (2/04/19): As soon as I positioned my A/V receiver on the top shelf, right side, the shelf started to sag, and twist. So now the right shelf is tipped down in front and curved to the right. Junk quality. Do not buy this.
Delivered quickly, no missing parts, and easy assembly. I did break a few of their bolts in the studs by over tightening had to use my own. I wish the back brace was little longer as the studs in my apartment complex are 16” I believe. I secured the middle in a stud and the exterior of both sides using dry wall plastic anchors with screws.
Quick delivery and in exc condition. No missing hardware. Received in separate plastic bag. Only complaint is that a phillips screwdriver is the only tool required but did not work. Tried to use my lightweight power drill with no luck. Handyman assembled and installed with heavy duty drill. After all that I love the shelf but be prepared for a very heavy item. Weighs around 70 lbs.
We've had this on the wall for months now. Totally sturdy, zero issues, looks beautiful, we get compliments on it all the time. The details are hazy since it's been so long, but I distinctly remember installation being the WORST. Part of the issue was that we have a concrete wall, so we had to use a special drill etc, but that's our own problem. Actually putting the console together, though, was so painful. Two of the panels were incredibly difficult to get aligned - I think a couple of the screw holes were slightly misaligned?? It took both of us attempting to maneuver it by miniscule angles to make it so that we could basically force the screw in at a slightly off angle for a loooooong time before we could get it to work. We finally did manage to force it to happen because no matter how painful it was, returning a package of this size sounded even worse, and once it was finally done slinging it over the wall bracket was easy and it looks awesome.
ETA: It's been a couple years and it still looks great. Not a scratch on it even though our cats occasionally try to jump up on it. It's been super stable. One thing we just noted - since it's impossible for us to put wires behind our concrete wall, I've been trying to figure out the best way to hide the cables. I got a paintable cable sleeve, etc, and specifically found a flat plug swivel plug surge protector so that we could run it up the wall as inconspicuously as possible. Turns out the hole for threading the plugs through is actually pretty small, and a flat swivel plug wouldn't fit through. I am very determined though, and I ended up getting a jab knife and sawing at it until i got a little bit of a notch that let the plug fit through, which was relatively quick and easy even with it on the wall.
I received a replacement shelf. This one is not as defective, however you can still see a slight curve downwards. I will keep it as I do not have the time to return again but overall it is a very floating shelf.
Shelf looks amazing when put together, but that’s as far as it goes. Mounting it to the wall was a nightmare, as the pre drilled holes that lined up with the wall studs clearly lined up with the brackets as well (see picture) so the shelf can’t sit properly in the mount. Whoever thought this mount up probably had a team of monkeys working on it.
I had to drill my own holes into the mount so the brackets would fit in their slot. So now the screws are quite close together in the wall stud for one, and because the quality of the screws isn’t that good I ended up stripping one to the point it is useless and cannot be removed.
