We simply love this bed frame. Im a big girl and my boyfriend is by no means a small man. We haven't had any issues with it, it makes no noise when we "get busy" and it's holding up just fine. Super easy to assemble. I did it by myself.
Ok, so when I first opened the box being someone who can’t manage to put anything together I totally panicked. Soooo many parts. They are labeled extremely well and come with all the tools you’ll need to easily assemble. I found it very helpful to organize each piece where it needed to go like in the picture. I didn’t take a photo of the finished product because it looks just like the amazon photo.
I didn’t realize this was a substitute for a box spring so I officially have the world’s tallest bed lol. I have my box spring and mattress on it so I can’t speak to the comfort if you didn’t but it seems like you’d have plenty of support.
I’m a big girl and I’ve already tested it out with a big guy. Together about 400lbs. It’s a bed so I’ll just put this out there, sexy time was not an issue lol. Nothing creaked, shook or broke. I gave it 5 stars for quality and the price point. I would buy again.
Center bars are too short. Sat on bed and bars gave in causing me to fall. Slept on it one night. Useless product. Do not recommend AT ALL
Very easy to set up very sturdy as well also comes with its own tools
I was in the market for a new bed frame, that would hold a foam mattress and could support my weight with no worries of breaking. I have a small Studio apartment, so I needed something compact. After reading many reviews and comparing this to other frames on amazon, I took a chance with this one. The frame arrived before its arrival date, and came packaged very carefully in an easy to carry box. Inside all metal was wrapped and styrofoam padded the edges (did i mention that the styrofoam came wrapped in plastic so there was no mess when unpacking...awesome), I laid out all the parts in the order the instructions stated and got to putting it together. This frame was very easy to assemble. It would have been even easier if I had an extra person but that was my problem. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble this frame. Very lightweight and it looks awesome. So far I have slept on it about 3 nights in a row with a 10" foam mattress and my 280 lb. self. No creaks, and no worries of it falling apart. The clearance is a little less that 14" from the ground, but its not a big deal, it's still plenty of space to store stuff under the bed if need be. I highly recommend this frame to anyone that wants a frame for their foam mattress and have minimal space in their home.
This product is completely defective, it's almost as if it's made from limp plastic. I am so ungodly disappointed. I weigh 220, and live alone with my dog. So it isn't like there's an insane amount of weight (or more than one person) breaking this frame.
I purchased it last Thursday, today is Monday. So it went four night and is now completely unusable. The metal has bent like a child's toy and can't even be slept on now. I am so highly disappointed, I don't have money to throw around to buy another frame as a broke college kid so now I have to go without again. I hope no one else makes this mistake.
Great bed frame/foundation. No need for a box spring with this. Easy to set up - took me about 45 minutes to unbox, put together, and open up the mattress (ordered separately) from the box and position on it. Very sturdy - doesn't move or wobble at all. It also looks great in a minimal sort of way.
One point I figured out that I didn't see in the instructions, the cross-pieces have double-sided tape on them - this is to keep the mattress from sliding on the metal frame. Also, I suggest installing the eight cross-pieces (four on each side) first, then installing the two middle pieces. The middle pieces have screws that go in the sides and pull the whole frame tight - doing this first makes it hard to put the others in.
Got it for about $75 with Prime Shipping so it was definitely a great deal.
Worth the money I bought for 70 bucks
Feels like a pretty solid bed frame. Happy with it so far. Will add to the review if things change.
First of all, the packaging. Although it's light enough to carry by one person, it is very big. The length of the frame at least. So definitely not something that can easily be picked up from the post office if you miss your delivery. That's something to pay attention to if you live in an apartment like me. I had to beg Purolator to re-deliver, then stressfully waited by my phone in order not to miss the buzzer.
Now onto putting it all together. If you take a few moments to study the diagram, and compare the numbers to the bars, it's pretty straightforward. If you are good at building Lego's this will be a piece of take. The box comes with all the necessary tools and a few extra screws. Basically fool proof. I am a 5 foot tall woman and I put the whole thing together by myself in about 30 minutes.
It's a minimalist design. Looks super sturdy, allowing me to prop up my foam bed without a box spring or slats. Plenty of room underneath for storage. I'm very satisfied.
Update: I’ve since moved and gone through the disassembling and reassembling. Bed still going strong!!! Better than IKEA
I couldn't find this information anywhere, so I thought I would share - the slats are 7.5 inches apart. I found this too far apart to just put a mattress on top and ended up getting a wooden board to make the bed more comfortable.
I've purchased two Zinus bed frames in the last month. This is a review of the 16 inch Metal Platform Bed Frame with Steel Slat Support. The other bed I purchased is the Modern Studio 14 inch Platform 3000 with Wooden Slat Support. The review will compare them as I think they both are very good for what they cost but there are reasons why you might choose one over the other. I live on the Canadian prairies where mildew will never be a problem due to the extreme dryness of the climate.
Assembly: The metal slat bed has a more pieces and was a more involved build. The frame sides are in two pieces. The instructions had me assembling the foot of the frame into U with the feet attached and the head into an n with the feet attached. I was then to join the two assemblies into the complete frame. When I went to do so, one of the sides had a slight twist preventing the join. I tried using a large adjustable spanner (Crescent wrench) to twist the rectangular tube to fit. The frame material is very solid so this was not successful. I loosened the leg and the attachment of the side piece to the end piece and this allowed the join to be made. This problem speaks to how solidly the frame is built. The wooden frame went together without any hitches and with fewer steps. The metal slat bed kit included spare fasteners but the wooden slat kit did not. One of the hex holes on a bolt on the wooden slat bed stripped but the head was large enough to be able to use a Vise grip to finish the tightening. The finished build on both beds was very solid and I don’t doubt that both will be around after 20 years of daily use. The metal slat model seems to be the more robust of the two. It has three middle support legs vs one on the wooden slat model.
Design: The wooden slat model has 12 slats that are 65 mm wide and the metal model has 10 slats that are 12 mm wide. The wooden slat model does a better job of distributing the weight of the mattress. The metal slats are held in place with tabs welded onto the frame. They are not going anywhere. The wooden slats are held in place with Velcro. It might be necessary to redo the Velcro at some point in time (although probably not as there won’t be a lot of stress put on the Velcro under normal use.) The wooden slats appear to be of sufficient quality that they won’t warp from the dry weather however only time will tell.
If you have a need for extra strength (say rambunctious teen-aged boys) or you want to save a few dollars (the metal frame model is slightly less expensive,) you might opt for the metal frame model. Both of these beds offer great value for a low price.
So far so good. I was skeptical at first when it came in a thin box. Instructions were easy to follow, tools were easy to use. I removed the grip tape because I was fearful it would rip the mattress (as someone here said it ripped theirs). I’m also a 300 pound dude and girlfriend is about 200 and we haven’t collapsed the bed frame or anything... Lol! Pretty sturdy, but I would recommend having at least a 10” mattress on top because there is a bit of a space between each slat in the frame. Works good, first day of use.
I set it up alone within half an hour or so surprisingly. It's only been a week of having it assembled. It is still wobbly and shaky especially since the metal isn't heavy. I don't know if screws need to be tightened better. One of the poles seems slightly short from touching the floor. The bed height is perfect so i can see my window.
Update; Almost 2 months later, the bed frame collapsed. It is not practical for a mattress or 1 person to sleep on it. Its absolutely weak besides noisy with any slight move. I didnt realize it only had 1 month amazon return window. I just deassambled it and need to figure out how to return it.
Update 2: Their customer service has been unhelpful via email a week later sending photos and listing broken parts. They have not offered to refund their defected product and claim that it is not eligible for a refund.
