We purchased this sink from Amazon about two months ago. We received it two days later but the right back corner was cracked and detached from the sink. I called Kraus directly on Wednesday morning and spoke to Tony. After emailing him photos of the damage along with a copy of my invoice he said he’d place the order for a replacement which he assured me would go out the same day. Later the same day I received an email with tracking information for the replacement sink. On Friday, just two days later I received a second broken sink. This time it was the left back corner. At this point we were concerned, thinking Kraus would lose patience and somehow make their problem our problem as many of today’s companies do.
I emailed Tony with pictures of the damage and followed up with a phone call sharing my observations regarding the packing and shipping. In both instances of receiving damaged product the packing materials had shifted in the box leaving the larger back of the sink where the faucet is installed vulnerable to the exact damage we were seeing. Tony assured me they would open the box and inspect the packaging before shipping a third sink. At this point we were losing faith but Tony was ‘All in’, understanding that we really had our sights set on having this sink. On the following Monday I received an email from Tony with tracking information and his assurance that the product was inspected prior to shipping. On Wednesday the third sink arrived. The packing tape across the top of the box had come Lioose and my hopes of receiving an acceptable product was diminishing. After opening the packaging I first noticed the sink was whole, no broken corners. I then got a shop light and started inspecting for minor cracks of which there were none. The third sink arrived in perfect condition!
Originally we planned to have the sink professionally installed but with the delay we now had scheduling conflicts with the installer so I decided to do the installation myself. While the clips that secure it to the underside of the countertop (this was installed as a top mount) were a bit tricky we did get at least one on all four sides. The installation, including our existing R.O.filter, a net Delta ‘Touch 2O faucet took about 3-4 hrs. We did get tripped up a bit as we had to get creative with the new placement of the drains but in hindsight, successful science projects are a lot of fun!
Bottom line....We love this sink!!!! In reading reviews we’ve noticed several people talk about ‘Hard Water’ spots and whiteness. Our water is by no means soft, by the same token, it’s not West Texas hard either. A good example of our water is, DO NOT wash your car in the heat os the day.... It will leave spots regardless of how quickly you work to wipe it dry. Having said that, after a month or so, we’ve found NO WATER SPOTS in the sink.
Bottom line 2.0...... Customer service.... Kraus earns TEN STARS! They absolutely earned our business and recommendations. So many companies today operate with an unfortunate motto of “We don’t care and it shows”. Not the case with Kraus. They absolutely care and will definitely earn your business given the chance! Their customer service is absolutely outstanding!!!
This review is for Kraus dual mount 50/50 black sink. The size of the sink is standard and I found the depth to be more than adequate. We installed this undetmount and it looks fantastic. If you are looking for a modern sink this is the one for you. Keep in mind that this sink is DUAL mount meaning you can mount it under mount or drop in. So the choice is yours. They have a single mount option as well that is cheaper. So if you already know which way you are going to mount it you might want to save some money and buy the single mount option.
This sink has a total of 5 cutout options for your faucet (3) and other accessories (2) like a water filter and soap dispenser. You can choose to cut these out or leave them in.
As modern and good looking that this sink is I did run into a major issue with it...keeping it clean. It does not clean like most sinks and simply wiping it with soap or water will not make it back to normal. See pictures for what the sink looks like after attempting to clean I was obviously upset about this issue and did some research and found that if you use "dawn" brand soap it help with the dusty aftereffect. It has to be dawn due to the specific formula they use. I used it and found that it did help. Overall the sink gets one star reduced because of the specifics of cleaning. It is not like the sinks you're used to. No pain no gain right? Beauty takes work.
Overall I have been happy with the sink minus the cleaning issue. If I had the choice I would purchase again because it looks solo good. Enjoy.
Oh and I would recommend a faucet with a long spout so that you're not forced to fill pots, cups, etc near the sides and can be more towards the middle of the sink basin.
I would give this sink 7 stars if it would let me. I cant overstate enough how much I love this sink. First, the pictures do not do this sink justice. There is a depth to the material that has a sparkle to it that is amazing when the sunlight hits the sink. I love how deep this sink is. I have never had a sink quite this deep and it is a delight. I also love that they include all the necessary hardware with this sink, rather than making you purchase it separately. This really makes the price on this sink so much less than it seems comparatively. When you combine the ability to mount this sink both above and below your counter, and with 1 or 3 holes, it really meets the needs of all people. I purchases this to mount above my counter now and then below in a few years when I upgrade to granite.
Absolutely top notch sink. I get so many compliments for the styling. You will set yourself apart from everyone you know with this sink. No one else will have anything like it. You will leave everyone jealous and trying to copy your style.
Had a few micro fractures after laying it in the hole. Nothing majorly defective and it m since it was black used a permanent marker and rubbed it in smoothly so you can't see it. I really don't like the fasteners for the drop in. They made the install harder and I don't know why you couldn't have them screw in vs slide in. My old sink was the dance side and it took me half the time to install. Looks great so far but was a pain in the butt to put in.
I had been eagerly looking forward to having the crew install this double sink but once I started using it I was so disappointed. There’s no way I can keep it looking good even after using the special cloth Kraus included with the shipment. Anything left in the sink for even a short time seems to leave a whitish imprint. When trying to remove these “ghost” images it looks like they’re gone, but as soon as the sink is dry, they appear again. I have had other Kraus products and sinks before, which were always satisfactory, but this one is a total disappointment.
I cannot believe I could be so excited about a sink...it's just a sink right? NO! Even my husband who doesn't cook is crazy about this sink and my daughter, who has her own home (and doesn't cook), wants one too. I knew it would visually make a bold statement in my kitchen. Some of the unexpected features were that when I set a glass in the bottom of the sink, it does not tip over because the entire bottom is flat. It's really deep, and in fact twice as deep as my pretty normal stainless one I had. The bottom dries very quickly on it's own. That basket for catching food particles is so handy, because you can let it fill up with prep stuff, and just dump it when you are done. I really like the band of brushed stainless up the middle because it matches my tap. I got my sink for an excellent price. I have seen it priced as high as $961 and my plumber said when he came to put it in "oh my goodness, this is a thousand dollar sink". We live in a very modest townhouse, but this sink makes my kitchen. The dual mount is great because one day when we get a quartz countertop, we can undermount it.
I loved the look of this sink when we first purchased it in Sept. 2018. We had it installed professionally. Within a few months it started to discolor like a dull grey. We don't have hard water as we had it checked . I have tried scrubbing with a mild cleaner but doesn't do anything. The only thing that makes it look black is to put a little cooking oil on a rag and wipe it , then it looks new again. I don't like the looks of it now. If I wanted a white or grey sink I would of ordered one.
I installed this sink and ran into issues since the sink only comes with one tailpipe for only 1 drain side. Seems strange to only include 1 and I ran out for parts and do a little macgyvoring to get it to fit current plumbing. The old sink and many I have installed have 2 tailpipes to the drains. This sink for some reason has a basket drain on 1 side and a female threaded end, NO tailpipe. 3 Stars since no warning that another tailpipe was needed and for the cost another pipe could of been included for easier install
