So before I begin, I should say where I'm coming from with this. It's a nicely designed, interesting piece. It is also designed in a way to make it, well, easy. By that I mean it does fold up to make shipping easier, it does require some light assembly, and there are some compromises made that better balance the convenience and price point with the look and style. So when I say I love this, and I do, it's in the context of how well it pulls off that mission rather than comparing this to a $5,000 designer sofa. Things that would be unforgivable in a really expensive piece are more easily accepted here.

So first I'll start with the design. It is a futon so the back folds down. It is also hinged in the middle so the entire thing can fold in half. There is an interior pocket to store the legs. I mention this because when it comes to moving this thing, disassembly and all of that are made pretty convenient. But that also comes with a compromise. Because the middle is hinged, the two halves of the back don't align perfectly...they are off by about a quarter inch. Again - compromise.

Another design compromise is putting the sofa into futon mode. The back that folds down requires extra support - and this is provided in the form of fold-out legs that are otherwise concealed behind zippers on the back of the sofa. Now the zippers are color matched to the upholstery, but there are still...zippers. So really, this isn't suitable for sitting in the middle of a room. I'd say have it against a wall, especially if the zippers are going to bother you.

And really....those are my only real nits with this piece. It's solidly built, indeed it's heavy (all that metal and wood makes this weigh a bit over 100 lbs), and the cushions are nice and firm. The seating angle is comfortable for me, and it does easily convert to a futon...under a minute. There was some initial consternation about the metal-legs-painted-to-look-like-wood, but when I thought about it more it made sense...this is supposed to convert to a sleeper and I like having the metal support over wood in that case. Buttons on the back, always a weak point, aren't all that weak...they are well secured. And in futon mode...it's really a comfortable sleep. I'd say because the upholstery is permanently on there (more on that in a minute), put sheets on it if you use it as a sleeper.

Now then, it's a 1950s style design. And that's part of the charm. It's clean, and somehow looks modern and throwback at the same time. It's not ostentatious, but I think it has a certain something something in it's style. Kind of understated, but yet it makes a statement. In other words, it works.

I do have some minor concerns about cleaning - because of how the thing is build, the upholstery does not come off...so if something is spilled on it, cleaning is going to be a hassle. So I am forced to be careful with it.

Let's now shift to assembly - basically you pull it out of the box, unfold it, and screw on the six legs. The instructions had the orientation of the sofa mixed up a bit in the illustrations, but it's easy to figure out. My one suggestion is to ignore the Allen wrenches you're provided and use an impact driver to put this thing together. You don't want any wobbliness. There was some issue with the center legs....there is a bend in the middle of the plate to fit over the center hinge, but the measurement is slightly off and the provided bolts weren't *quite* long enough to make it work. I ended up having to bend the plate a bit more and use my impact driver on a higher setting to make sure it was fastened securely. But any assembly issues are one-time-only inconveniences and don't impact (pun not intended) my enjoyment of the piece.

It's a good sofa. I like that it is flexible to convert to a sleeper, it's solidly made, and came together quite nicely. It's a simple thing but somehow it became the centerpiece of the room in which I placed it. It is something that I could use as an anchor for an overall room theme, and I like the possibilities with it. In sum, it's a good sofa and indeed a more designery like piece than others I've seen and used. It's a futon that, for a change, would actually be out of place in a college dorm. It doesn't scream futon, but it does give off style. It's great.

Looks great but as previous reviewer said, the sides aren't flush and it's not very comfortable. It could break in with time, I wouldn't sleep on it regularly though and even as a sofa I would be sure to use extra pillows. Also the legs aren't wooden like the description said, they are metal painted to look like wood.
I love this mustard yellow couch. I live in a studio apartment so I wanted a versatile piece of furniture that brought a pop of color to the room. This couch is rather firm so don't expect to sink into it too much, but the cushions do soften up a bit over time. I've even taken a nap on this thing and slept great.

PROS
- cute couch at affordable price
- sturdy metal legs that look like wood but are stronger
- despite being a futon, the back isn't ugly
- deep enough seat to sit criss cross even if you're not a small person

CONS
- takes a little time to break in; not for people who want a couch that feels like a marshmallow
- no arms to lean pillows against, but not a big deal IMPO
You get what you pay for. This is my life's motto.

However, don't pay for this thing.

First, you think the back can stay up in the middle of the room as shown in the photo. Nope. It needs to be against the wall. There are no locking mechanism to get the back to stay up. Depending on the floor material, it might be okay, but it slides very easily on my wooden floor. I have to reposition it every once in a while.

second, the internal structure is just... springs. You can actually feel the springs when you sit. you can hear the springs working. I mean, it's certainly better than wooden floor, but it's definitely no where closer to "comfortable". I don't know if I can suggest someone to sleep on it.

Buy it only if you are very desperate. When I'm moving out, I'm giving it to my roommate. or donate.
The design and the color are same as the picture but the couch is really firm...no good for the sleep. Unfortunately the split back is not in equilibrium. One is quite flat and the other one is bulging. Anyway I'm in remorse for this purchase.
This futon has livened up my tiny space so well, I’m in love with it! I decided on this little couch because I live in 340sq ft. It’s the perfect size for my space, anything bigger would swallow up my “living room.” The fabric is possibly my favorite part about the futon, it looks like higher quality woven threads.
The bottom cushions are fairly stiff, so if you are looking for something super comfy to lounge on for most of the time, I’m not too sure if this would be the right choice. Mine is also a little wobbly, not in a structural sense but two corner legs aren’t even on the floor, however that could also be my floor being uneven and not the actual legs.
Assembly was the easiest, took me probably 15 minutes at most and it comes with all the parts you need.
Mine is perfect. No weird spacing like the others. It is quite hard but I like it. Fits my place well. Design is awesome.
Day 1 Missing Screws looks like an open package. Called Manufacturer. Was sent an email where I had to re-type everything I just told the person on the phone. Day 6, after 5 days my new hardware package finally arrived. Begin step 2-3 easy peazy screws went in. Step 4 (hail)! Holes and screws don’t align with hinge. All holes not pre-drilled. could go to hardware store and buy more screws, using an impact driver. Also adding carpentry to my resume. 5 days in. Think it’s going back :(
